He was excellent. Strode out of defence in the manner of a Hansen or (a bit worse) a Terry. Played it simple, and took the easy option most of the time, sign of a good defender. Really, really good signing. Things are definitely looking up.

I haven't enjoyed a game at St Mary's so much for about five years. Now convinced we are on the right track. Hooray! Really good football, really good pass and move and we totally walloped them. A few points: I watched that berk Wright Phillips when we scored (he was warming up) and he did not even flicker. No emotion there, no happiness that we had scored, he just carried on stretching. We do not need players like him, Euell, Syer, Skacel at the club. The players who did play played like a team, and this is a massive, refreshing change. Long may it continue and well done Jan. But I'd like to caution that, as always with this forum, we lurch between 'we are doomed' when we lose, to 'we are going to win the league' (with people offering latest odds) after winning 1-0 against a very poor side. If you don't understand that then I suggest you change your log in name.
