  1. Agreed. As a referee myself that one really annoyed me, because it was obviously a foul the other way. 1000 replays and you would not be able to see a foul in that. Antonio was leaning forward with his arms down. Therefore no obstruction or leaning into fouls can be given. Very annoying. Thankfully didn't cost us.
  2. It could be helpful to bring in a player like Stock or Danns, but it won't change our season much. Schniederlin will be missed but I think we could cope for 3 games. Considering one of them is cup and one of them is Stockport at home (not winning that would be a sin), it may only be 1 game we could end up regretting his disappearance.
  3. I think today when confronted with a 50/50 yellow/no yellow the ref favoured the way of the card. It could have been needed to calm the game down, however you could claim that James, KD and Schniederlin decisions were all harsh. However, an appeal will fail for the red - don't bother with the extra game ban Saints! The difference IMO was that Schniederlin made physical contact pushing the face, and combined with the poor tackle, did more than the MK Dons guy to earn a worser punishment. However, at first I felt it should have been either Nothing-Yellow, or Yellow-Yellow. But no appeal.
  4. Harsh but he certainly shouldn't be complaining. Pushed a guy in the face after retaliating to his tackle. By the law, that's violent conduct.
  5. Red card was harsh but reasonable too. The only two decisions he got wrong all night was the handball that he missed (although it seemed everyone missed it other than the commentator) and that "foul" against Antonio for going into the corner flag (with thanks to the linesman) I'm a ref, and I thought he controlled the game quite well - it could have got nasty.
  6. Very very good performance, extremely positive about that. Fonte and Schniederlin excellent (when on the field!!!). Lambert a handful - play like that and we'll easily be promoted by 2011 - and we could easily get our hands on a trophy!!! Ratings: Davis 8, Mills 6, Perry 6, Fonte 9, Thomas 7, Wotton 6, Schniederlin 8, James 7, Antonio 7, Lambert 7, Lallana 6 Great goal from Antonio, but boy isn't he hit and miss? Frustrating and a joy all in one!!!
  7. Great performance on the field today, but all of our cards today could easily have been avoided. To be honest it was pathetic from some of them. Why does Lloyd James need to get involved (He now misses next game ? Why does Kelvin need to run 40 yards to get involved? I'm OK with sticking up for your team mates but don't get aggressive and raise your arms!!! Silly of Holmes to get booked for kicking the ball away. Stupid yellow really although its his first of the season so not too much bother. Wayne Thomas gets booked for an elbow in the face. Close to a red you know that - lucky boy, and all because he wanted to retaliate after the player kicked him in the hip while going for the ball 10 minutes earlier. And now for the cream of the crop. Schniederlin was excellent today, a 9/10 performance, but he went and wrecked it with a moment of "seeing red" madness. Why does he have to raise his hands and push him in the face? WHY? I like to see him get stuck in but now he has to face the consequences with a 3 match ban. Final Whistle just gone however and i'm very satisfied. COYR!!!
  8. Just stay in the hunt please Saints. Any result other than a loss - I would take. MK Dons will be confident after just smashing Hartlepool 5-0, so we will need to get in their faces early on just to give them a reality check that it won't be happening again for them. Shut them out for the opening half hour and they could get frustrated, in turn that could help us gain a good result out of this one. COYR
  9. Realistically we won't be getting to the Play Offs this year. A successful season would be finishing in a position where, if we could add 10 points, would be enough for a play off position. I'd say it's also important we finish the season strongly to boost our hopes of a positive year next season. Positive vibes during a pre season for once would do us the world of good. And when 10/11 comes around, its no fecking about, the pressure is on. Promotion is expected next season - how about we finally win a match on the opening day of the season?
  10. What the hell is the OS playing at??? If anything it has made me more hopeful though!!!
  11. I'm starting to see it that way as well but I keep telling myself that 1) Its all about next season and 2) as long as we finish 6th if we add 10 points to us at the end of the season, we can consider this season a success. But man for man, I cannot see why this squad has amassed so little points in comparison to Charlton who have a weaker squad.
  12. not the JPT since Palace aren't in it... probably cup tied for FA Cup however
  13. Very interesting, and exciting :)!!!!!
  14. Unbelievable that Pompey guy is, blatant lies... "embargo will be lifted", "everything OK until rest of season" - absolutely hilarious. They are so f**ked!!! And if someone does pay them a massive loan... who are they? what are they? and how on earth did this guy get a job at a bank???
  15. By signing Fonte (a fantastic signing that in hindsight could be better than the Lambert signing), I think there is less of a chance of getting Ward as well. I wouldn't rule it out, but I just think Pardew, Cortese, Markus & Co won't want to have someone earning what Jaidi does on the bench. Jaidi is awesome for League 1 anyway - so I wouldn't be buying TOP talent in the CB just yet, now we have Fonte.
  16. I'm sure the 3 relegated teams are likely to feel that they have a great chance of promotion next season too. BUT, we are a wealthier and healthier side than almost every team in the bottom half of The Championship, so we shouldn't worry about them. We have spent loads of money for this division, and therefore promotion must and will be achieved by May 2011 without any excuses!!!
  17. Might not want to look at the table on Saturday evening. We would have played a similar amount of matches to everyone else and could well be 13/14 points off the play off places. I think not having a game here puts more pressure on the result at Millwall. If we lose that one we could be close to the bottom 4 again - this COULD cause panic and poor confidence in the team, which would basically ruin any aspirations for play offs this season. However, on the plus side, we haven't been playing that well recently, Huddersfield are a good team for this division, and we might as well play them with a new squad, playing better football (hopefully).
  18. Ward would be a great signing. Remember he was a beast at the back for Plymouth when they were a mid-table Championship side. Scores goals as well. Would be a very similar player to Trotman IMO, a worthy replacement and the exact standard that Pardew should be looking to try and get into the club. However we should also be wary about not letting players go. Ensuring the likes of Lallana and Schniederlin will stick around next season for a probable 2nd season in League 1 is paramount to next seasons success.
  19. This isn't an excellent draw but its quite a good one. Is it winnable? Yes, but it will be very tough, and if we can go into the game with a bit of form then we should give a good account of ourselves. However, play like we have done in recent matches and we will be swept aside 0-2. Think of it this way - Ipswich will be well p!$$£d off they have to play us... AWAY
  20. Yes, we can make the play offs 50/50, I believe more week on week that we will. As long as we finish on a total that would see us in the play offs without a points deduction, I could say we have had a reasonably successful season. Considering where we were in June, and considering the start to the season and also our 05/06 season in the Championship where we finished 12th, this would be a fine achievement. IMO, promotion must be achieved in 2011 at the latest...
  21. Waigo offside a few moments ago......... .................. ANYWAY FT - thank you for the 3 points... but could we do it more comfortably and confidently in future weeks??? Bring on Colchester - need a result to keep up the chase
  22. red was in the 1st half. 6 subs = 3 mins 2 goals = 1 min injury? 1 more min. only those there truly know...
  23. phew.... that is all I can say. maybe you could say the potential scoreline flatters us? well, it would be our 6th 3-1 of the season... thankyou Waigo!!!
  24. Wotton should stick his teeth in. Get some Plymouthian hate to ruffle some feathers and keep us with the EXPECTED 3 points... Edit: Of course, how many teeth does he have left after the Burnley incident
  25. need to keep our heads!!! don't panic!!! we should believe we are way better than Exeter, especially with 10 men!!! aaaaaaaaaahhhh nerves rising
