I think this is very likely right. I know that all club employees got a big bonus the season under Strachen when we sneaked into 10th place on the last day. Very much doubt there were significant bonuses on offer for the cups. And until the financial gain to Clubs for FA Cup success starts to match Prem League prize money clubs will continue to be not bothered. Anyone know how much winning the cup is worth? Also agree that it's not entirely about not wanting to win the cup, although I think Poch doesn't want the Europa place as it would over stretch us next year, but more about maximising the league chances.

You couldn't be more wrong. The approach to the game today is a strong indication that he'll stay. He hates the Europa league and winning the cup would have put us in it and he doesn't want that: he wants to qualify next season for the Champions League. If he were leaving, he'd have gone for a bit if glory for himself in the cup and not cared about the consequences.

Like I said, he doesn't want Europa so doesn't want to win the cup.

Buying big doesn't necessarily work. The players have to gel. Think Osvaldo, and to a lesser extent Ramirez. Look at our recent results with 4 most expensive players out. Being a team who work together and understand each other is more important.
