Ah come on, that happens all the time, at least once a year. It's no more dangerous than running with a shredded tyre or Vettel doing a lap of Australia this season with one wheel only held by the tether. What is dangerous, however, is not telling the driver that the wheel was loose and that's the accusation.

Yeah, mileage isn't everything but it's a pretty good indicator for a buyer who is a complete novice mechanically. That said, I know my way around a car but I got caught out when I bought an MGZR with only 15k on the clock. I took it for granted that the engine was sound, after all it went ok on the test drive, but within a thousand miles I'd snapped the camshaft. That was messy, and expensive.

Most bodyshops and some carwash/valet places will do a "mop job". It's basically a deep polish and paint restorer applied and buffed with an electric mop. It will restore the colour and lustre of old, faded paint but it will only be temporary. You can prolong the effect with regular polishing of your own afterwards. The last time I had it done it was £40, but that was a few years ago. The results lasted about 2 summer months without any follow up from me. This was a Mk2 MR2 which was supposed to be red but had sun-faded to a delicate shade of pink.

May I kindly suggest that some of you put NC on ignore if he gets under your skin so much as this e-vigilante 'ganging up' is getting pretty ugly.
