  1. But for once in a lifetime events like what happened this winter surely it's more cost effective to just let the insurance deal with it when it happens again in 2097 or whenever? Of course if climate change means it will happen more frequently then it's worth the investment.
  2. But floods have always happened, why spend billions on flood defences now unless you think it's going to get more frequent or severe? If it's purely down to natural cycles then it is just as likely to be less server weather from now onwards.
  3. This Krueger thing is good news purely because it shows KL planning for the future. I doubt she will do a Rupert and try and crow-bar him into a football role, according to the BBC the majority of his work will be on the commercial side. It will be interesting to see what role he has and what changes he makes.
  4. But what is the point of adapting to what has already happened? If climate change is just down to natural variations then temperatures could go up or down, sea level could go up or down, weather could get milder not more severe - what is the point of adapting when you don't know what you are adapting for? How could you possibly adapt anyway? Accepting man made climate change and choosing to adapt instead of fight it is a valid argument. Saying it doesn't exist but we should adapt is just a bullsh!t point of view.
  5. But if it's due to natural variations and we don't have a clue what's around the corner how can we possibly adapt?
  6. If it is just natural variations why the sudden need to "adapt"?
  7. Tuesday 25th February 2014 and Turkish finally gets something right.
  8. I didn't mean weather patterns, just climate change in general - what sort of proof are you waiting for?
  9. What sort of conclusive proof are you waiting for that man is influencing the climate? We could have every year hotter than the next for the next century and you could still say it's due to cosmic rays or just natural variations. How do you expect a definitive conclusion?
  10. They get that anyway, we foot the bill and the landlords rake it in.
  11. The situation is screwed up, people can't get mortgages because the banks ****ed up so they are forced to rent - pushing rents up. The government need to heavily tax anyone with a second home IMO, making it less viable to rent out properties.
  12. I doubt they would jump at the chance of hiring him though, unless he actually wins a trophy.
  13. As long as he keeps his nose out of football affairs (unlike Woodward) I don't see a problem. Does it actually say anywhere what his role will be?
  14. Going in with low expectations might actually help us. Greece didn't win the Euros by going into it thinking they were better footballers than everyone else. They accepted their limitations and played to their strengths - we need to do the same. Accept the fact that we are sh!t and try and grind out enough draws to see us through as far as possible. We've always had a pretty decent defence, just keep it tight and try and hit teams on the break. And practice penalties.
  15. I see Connolly scored again today. That means since they have loaned him out he has scored the same amount as the entire portsmouth team.
  16. I read "the way the West Ham have" as referring to their style of play. I accept their is a feint chance we could 'do a Greece' but history shows this is not very likely at a World Cup. I think we will go out at the group stage, it's the worst England squad I can remember.
  17. Despite some tough fixtures pompey should have enough winnable home games to see them safe. Could get interesting if Northampton continue to sort their sh!t out though.
  18. "grind out wins from a mediocre overall team of players in the way the West Ham have" What point were you trying to make then?
  19. Poch is obviously doing a great job despite his f*ck up last week so anyone should be concerned if he were to leave. In this league it is a fine line between mid table security and relegation candidate, that line is often a talented manager. Better squads than ours have been relegated before.
  20. The main problem with the England team is the fact that not enough English players play regularly at the highest level in the Prem. Look how well Sturridge has developed since his move to Liverpool after just sitting on his arse at Chelsea. Players sat on their arse today include Ashley Cole, Young, Oxlade Chamberlain, Milner, Lescott, Welbeck (not even on the bench so I assume is injured). The last Spurs game Townsend and Dawson sat and watched. Unless we limit the amount of foreigners allowed we will continue to decline at international level.
  21. Yeah, because hoofing it up front would work against the best players in the World in 30 degree heat.
  22. Doesn't make any difference, we are still 8th, if we won we would be 8th, if we drew we would be 8th. It's a pitty we don't have a cup or anything to play for.
  23. Pretty good attendances for reserves fixtures.
  24. I understand the reason for giving your second choice keeper game time in the early rounds but not towards the end of the season with Wembley a couple of games away and nothing to play for in the league. Makes no sense at all.
