I hope so, I just think Saints being 3rd highest spenders last summer hints at us living beyond our means. Hopefully we will carry on the same way anyway. Only time will tell.
-
I'm not sure spending £15mill fees and 60K a week wages on players like Osvaldo is our true level though.
-
I hope you are right but my gut feeling is that if the money was still there Cortese would still be there.
-
I expect the only thing they would have cared about is Cortese's ability to get hold of loads of Leibherr's money - that is what success is linked to.
-
I don't think it matters much about his ability at all, no player is going to be that bothered about the skill set of a CEO. The only reason to worry is WHY he left. In my opinion it is probably down to Liebherr not wanting to finance his little dream. If Cortese has promised the players something that cannot be delivered then he has left us with a big problem.

Impossible to say stuff like this unless you actually know what's gone on. Might have just been a good old fashioned punch up.
-
Would explain why Miss L wanted a bit more control. It doesn't take many of those sort of signings to ruin a club the size of Saints.
-
Pointless banging on about it though Cortese has decided to bugger off to better things and left us with the guy from Deloite to carry things forward.
-
Even if you are promoting the club as modern and forward thinking our history does add value to the SFC brand. Obviously our history is not as rich as some clubs but it adds value, just like a few trophy wins a hundred years or so ago adds to the image of clubs like Portsmouth or Preston North End. For example if Coventry hadn't had that spell in the top flight and won the FA Cup your perception of them as a club would be very different. History and tradition are a huge part of the identities of British football clubs.
-
But you are not going to maximise revenue by alienating supporters and local businesses, fighting with the media instead of utilising it and discarding the club's history instead of using it to enhance the brand. Many of Corteses' petty actions flied in the face of the professionalism you say is so important.

No different to a crack addict feeling alive when they shoot up. Just as sad.
-
I just find it depressing that someone can value their life so little. His mother looks like a complete idiot as well, making out she couldn't force him to go to school etc. she's probably to blame.
-
Yeah, because you have to stop one to do the other.
-
Cortese would have known football finances inside out before he came to Saints. Hiring someone just because they are a banking is a f*cking retarded idea IMO.
-
Yep, been done before, it was when we actually sold out the corporate areas.
-
Yeah, because you can't embrace your history and look to the future at the same time.
-
I think saying we're not for sale probably means we're not for sale.
-
Great news. Just need to hire a new bloke to sign the cheques and were sorted.

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)

But quieter periods usually mean lower temperatures. What is your explanation for the recent warming? -

The longest-running temperature record is the Central England temperature data series, that started in 1659. The longest-running quasi-global record started in 1850. The point is something has made the last decade warmest on our records whilst the sun is cooling. What do you think the reason is? -
If Cortese was planning something, the one thing you can guarantee is that the staff at SFC would know jack sh!t about it. To be honest I'm not bothered what happens. If anyone was to buy the club chances are they are going to have a decent amount of cash. If the Leibherrs want to keep it and hire another CEO - great. If Cortese comes back with a super-rich owner - fine.

Why do you think this last decade has been the warmest on record whilst the sun is going through an unusually inactive phase?
