  1. It's funny how the sceptics now think "man's influence on climate change is small" where as a few years ago it was all supposed to be a load of nonsense.
  2. Walcott will be a massive miss for England, hopefully Chamberlain will get fit before the end of the season. I think Lallana will go anyway but we need some good runners with the ball, I don't think Townsend is the answer.
  3. You can't blame people for wanting to get on the housing ladder. In a way it is unfair, when I brought my first house I was completely skint and used a 101% mortgage. I sold it for a 30K profit a few years later even though it was in a worse condition to when I brought it. The problem is schemes like this are just fueling another bubble, the crash will be much worse next time.
  4. Nonsense, we are doing fine. In the last 9 games Villa was the only really poor result. In the last 9 we have played Chelsea twice, Arsenal, Man City, Spurs plus Everton and Newcastle away. Which of these do you think we should be expecting to win with key players injured?
  5. I what was reported to have been said is what was said then I doubt the club expected anything further to be done. I expect hey are just doing what they can to put pressure on referees just like clubs like Man Utd and Everton have done before. It's probably no coincidence that this follows the "we are too nice" statement made last week. Who gives a monkeys about a few jokes in the press?
  6. "Crunch Time" - what a load of b*ll*x. We have had injuries to key players whilst playing a tough set of fixtures so surprise surprise, we haven't won many games. We won't go down, we won't get into Europe - there is no crunch.
  7. It's great that the club look like they are taking the FA Cup seriously. If we can get our key players fit we will be a good outside bet. Our full strength side is a match for anyone on their day and the big clubs will prioritise their European fixtures later on.
  8. No it doesn't, he said he enjoyed refs giving banter back and the club should have just left it as that. I'm not sure how it makes him look a hyporcrite. Fo what it's worth I think the club are probably making the complaint for a good reason. I expect they felt Clattenburg spoke to Lallana in a way that he wouldn't have to someone like Gerrard or Lampard and they are making a point about us not being pushed around just because we are not as big.
  9. We could alienate Scotland and lose North Sea oil?
  10. Depends what was said, we have only had Clattenburg's version so far.
  11. Alcohol is ingrained in our culture so suddenly banning it wouldn't work. Cannabis is not the same. it's widely used but it's not normal to have a joint with your nan whilst eating Sunday lunch (in most houses). I just think making it illegal puts off many people, especially kids, from doing it which is a good thing. Of course thousands of people will do it anyway, doesn't mean a war is being lost.
  12. “You’re very different now since you played for England. You never used to be like this.” Doesn't sound like something a grown man would say to another in a heated argument.
  13. 3rd round day used to be one of my favourite days of the sporting calendar but it's not quite the same anymore. I'm not even interested in going to watch Saints Reserves vs Burnley tomorrow. It's a shame. I don't know how much money a club makes from winning the cup but it's probably dwarfed by the prize money of a few places in the Premier League. In days gone by I think the cups used to be a bit of a money spinner, that's the difference.
  14. But it being illegal did put me off doing it when I was younger. Legalising it will just make it more acceptable and accessible and I don't think it's a wise move even if it does make some money through tax. Alcohol is a very good example of a drug that has been made normal and accessible to everyone - look at the problems caused by that.
  15. I don't think legalising it would help, it would just make it more acceptable to kids IMO. I know the fact that it was illegal put me off doing it when I was younger.
  16. “You’re very different now since you played for England. You never used to be like this.” - I find it hard to believe it was over that. It was probably “You’re very different now since you played for England. You never used to be such a ****.” I find it hard to believe Saints would make such a fuss if it was the former, hopefully they will come out with a different version of events, and get one of those lip-reading guys to confirm it from the TV footage.
  17. I always thought you were sent off for swearing at or insulting the ref. That was the case when I used to play (along time ago granted).
  18. Our start was easy and we had few injuries to key players, that is all.
  19. **** it, you've convinced me. I'm on your side now, it's all nonsense. I'm going to ignore the consensus of the World's leading scientists and concur with some bloke who names himself after a missile and posts anonymously on a football forum. That's the sensible way forward, our country's leaders should take note. When deciding on policy instead of consulting the experts go on a football website and see what the local sarcastic arsehole has to say.
  20. I think the role of the rain forests in the theory of man made climate change is quite obvious to anyone with a GCSE in science.
  21. Have you got any further with your cosmic ray theory yet?
  22. Yes by the press and the ignorant (eg. see numb-nut's posts above). Serious scientists will look at it in context of long term trends.
  23. I will be p!ssed off if we put out the reserves again. Maybe rest 1 or 2 but no more.

The drainage at St Mary's is very good. I think the only danger of waterlogging is if there is really intense rain just before kick-off, even then I think they can just wait half an hour or so and it will drain away (think that has happened before).
  25. But if we flog Lambert and end up finishing 12th instead of 9th we will lose £8mill in prize money anyway. Not sure that is good business, especially given that we could easily spend £15mill on a replacement that turns out to be garbage.
