  1. Even weirder wanting Man Utd to win to give us a chance of going top!
  2. It's Happening...
  3. It is fantastic to hear, to do what we are doing with a nucleus of English players bodes very well for the future. Imagine what our squad would be like if we had kept hold of Walcott, Bale and Chamberlin!
  4. Beat Arsenal, lose to Chelsea.
  5. It's not a traditional war though is it? If it was I would think it was out of order. Does the Geneva Convention even apply when the enemy are not in uniform, sneaking around pretending to be civilians, hiding behind women and kids, then blowing themselves up taking out civilians in the process? If we send our boys out to fight guerrilla warfare in these sh!thole countries we shouldn't expect them to behave like Tommy from WW1, it's a different set of rules.
  6. We are an above average Premier League side who has had an easy start, that's all.
  7. I feel sorry for the bloke who got sent down as I probably would have done the same thing in his situation. They shouldn't be out there in the first place.
  8. True, but unless you pay a sh!t load of cash that affinity doesn't count for much.
  9. It's great to hear but lets not be naive, players love it here because they are being paid a sh!t load of cash.
  10. I don't doubt that but this old chap obviously feels many didn't have a choice, I don't think either of us are in a position to call him a liar.
  11. I think his point was that whilst many chose to go, alot of poor people didn't have a choice.
  12. I agree to an extent. I think the main motivation for the Afgan war was to rid the country of a regime who harboured Islamic terrorists, wether Bin Laden was handed over or not was irrelevant, the regime being in place was a threat in itself because it supported the Al Quaeda movement. It did fit the whole USA Westernisation strategy though so an element of what you said is probably right. Iraq is a different story though, it was pure aggression from the US and UK. The thing is bringing freedom and democracy to a country is the exact same thing as giving corporations the freedom to exploit it. There is no difference. The problem is that giving people freedom and democracy is a good thing (no matter what anyone says about different cultures etc, democracy is the only right and fair system) and will always be the cloak to hide behind.
  13. Cortese would never sell for that.
  14. As soon as the docks were turned into a political football you just knew Portsmouth would lose.
  15. Great stuff, thoroughly deserved
  16. Exactly, and if Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and Man United we're not in European competition they would take the League Cup even more seriously. The reason they put out their reserves is because they have untold European games as well, not because they can't be arsed to win it.
  17. Great, our squad gets 'game time' in our quest for a 7th place finish, meanwhile our trophy cabinet remains a complete embarrassment. Sunderland were poor tonight, we could have rested a few key players and got a result. Instead we think were f*cking Man Utd and put out our reserves because the League Cup is so beneath us. It was a wasted opportunity tonight, I don't remember Saints putting out a reserve team away to a Premier League side, one game away from the quarter finals before.
  18. I couldn't give a sh!te what Sunderland did, if we wanted to win the cup we would have put out a stronger team. I wish the club would just be honest and say they don't care, it's all about he money and the Premier League. We are a a club with a f*cking embarrassment for a trophy cabinet, it's time we tried to do something about it.
  19. It's arrogant to think we could put our reserves out and still go through.
  20. What a pathetic, lame way to go out of a cup competition. Might as well ask the Football League to not bother entering us next year if we don't give a sh!te about it.
  21. F*cking useless
  22. Putting out a weak as sh!te side in a competition we have a decent chance of winning just to rest players for the Prem.
  23. It's a shame how money rules football nowadays, I'm getting less and less interested by the day.
  24. Not exactly surprising - trouser the 200K then allocate it to what would have been spent anyway. I expect Cortese's line of thought is that the fact that our club is 200K richer should make our most loyal away fans very happy.
  25. What green light is this, and who presses the on button? You are not seriously suggesting the /McCanns control the press as well now are you? If the press had the slightest bit of proof that they might have done it they would be all over it, nothing or no one would stop them.
