It appears that Nick Illingsworth has been refused a season ticket
aintforever replied to hypochondriac's topic in The Saints
Strictly speaking they can stop the Echo or this website using their crest. It would be a pretty retarded marketing policy though because they are just getting free promotion. It's a different story if you are producing TShirts etc with the crest on though. -

So am I, it couldn't have worked out better. Still doesn't make it right to ban fans for their opinions. -

The trust was nothing to do with Silverspoons. -
That's one **** effigy.

community (noun) - the people living in one particular area or people who are considered as a unit because of their common interests, social group or nationality. Would a church stop being part of a community if only a few people turned up? I'm glad Leibherr bought the club but if he hadn't someone else would have. There will always be a football club in Southampton, just like there will always be one in Portsmouth. -

You say "where was the community" yet then go on to say how you and many others donated money - err... that is the community. You don't get people throwing money in buckets for any other businesses that face going under. A football club is a business AND part of the community, the two are not mutually exclusive. It was here long before, and will be here long after Cortese has gone. -

Stop talking crap, a football club is not just a business, it's part of the community. That's why when it falls on hard times it's people like Ilingsworth that chuck their hard earned into a bucket to keep it going. I don't even like Illingsworth, I think he's an attention seeking bell-end, but to ban someone for voicing their opinion is simply just wrong. -
I don't see what American support in the 80's has got to do with today's Taleban.

Why were so many of our "best first XI" in the league missing ?
aintforever replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Typical Alpine melodramatic nonsense, I expect it's a combination of injuries and Pardew not wanting to show his hand. -
There needs to be a Court of Common Sense set up with power to over-ride any over that , in cases like these, just say "naa **** off". Unfortunately in this country we have laws set up to protect us and they get abused.

Is The Forum Representative Of Saints Fans In General
aintforever replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
No way near representative, this forum is a magnet for weirdos and obsessives, and there is a high proportion that go on here because they can't go to games. For most people going to football is just something to do with their mates on a Saturday, like go out on the p!ss or to the cinema or theatre. It's not something to argue with complete strangers about. -
Plenty of clubs with huge debts still buy players, maybe they are gambling on getting back to the Prem to pay them off. They still need a team and buying players from League 1 would be cheaper than buying Prem/Championship players. I'm not saying it's true, just saying it could be.

I think we can assume Nick has tried (a) or (b) and has received neither. -
Your thoughts mean nothing because you don't go to games.

Of course not. I'm just commenting on how things appear off the field, which isn't that important. It would be interesting to see how Lowe would fare with a billionaire's bank account to dip into though. We would definitely be able to read decent features in our local paper about Saints, read a matchday programme and pay for our ST's in installments if he was here though. We would also have a fan's forum, more ST holders and be able to voice our opinion without fear being banned.
-
Why? Lowe managed to get a programme printed for every game. Lowe managed to communicate properly with fans. Lowe never resorted to banning the local paper. Lowe managed to set up a installment plan for fans to use. The fact that we are even discussing the chairman at a time when we should just riding the crest of a wave speaks volumes for what a **** Cortese is. Remember Cortese's job is way way easier than the one Lowe had - he didn't have a billionaire's cash to throw about.
-
To be fair, football wise so far we have done OK, if he had done a "great" job then we would be in the Championship - remember he spent more than any other team EVER in this league and didn't even reach the play-offs. The test will be this season. Off the field Cortese makes Lowe look like a genius IMO.

Surely this issue here is not wether you think Illingsworth is a **** or not but if you think it's right for a lifelong Saints fan to be denied a season ticket for voicing an opinion? If that is what has happened. -

You are probably right, but fact is many Saints fans (real ones that actually go to games), particularly the elderly rely on the Echo for news or enjoy reading about their team in the Echo. Cortese has shown complete disregard for this part of the Southampton community. -

If Cortese has banned Illingsworth from having a Season Ticket (and it wouldn't surprise me) then he is a complete c*nt, I can't believe anyone would defend the decision. -
Whilst I think Illingsworth is a **** it's still good to have some sort of fan's organisation IMO, especially with the way Cortese has been acting.
-
It's difficult to measure accurately but it's not hard to see when someone's taking the ****. They were paying people who had little or no image millions, a crystal clear tax fiddle.
-
...and that's such a shame.

4 days a week is more than enough time to apply for jobs and arrange interviews. When I graduated from uni I worked full time (on a pittance while renting in London) while I applied and found a proper job.
