He did OK at West Ham, they stayed up by 5 points. Pardew got West Ham promoted and was seconds away from winning them the FA Cup. Zola may do well but he would be a big gamble. Being a big name is an asset in that it attracts players but it ends there, he might not be a very good League 1 manager despite being Italian and having a cool sounding name.
-
Big big gamble IMO, Pardew did way better at West Ham.
-
McClaren can **** off.
-
I'm guessing that's why he's favourite. I would prefer a manager who has actually achieved something though. Zola has done nothing in management, West Ham were not great under him.
-
Exactly what boxes does Zola tick?
-
Put the handbag away - I was only joking.
-
I would be happy with Widdrington but I can't see it being Cortese's choice. I don't think being a Saints old boy ranks high on his tick list.
-
But McDolalds have always had a high turnover of staff.
-
Why do people keep mentioning ONeil like it's likely to happen!?! Might as well make a top 3 of Ferguson, Wenger and Morinho.
-
I don't get the Zola thing, what exactly has he achieved as a manager apart from make an average West ham side look average? Being a great player and having a cool sounding name mean jack **** when it comes to being a manager.
-
I'm getting flashbacks from the Lowe/Sturrock episode...
-
What do you mean source, we've just sacked our manager 3 league games into the season after a 4-0 away win. Cortese is a complete nut-job.
-
Because he's not a complete fool and could have his pick of most Premier League clubs and is probably favourite to be the next England manager. Why would he choose to go to a 3rd tier club with a hair trigger chairman?
-
LOL at people thinking Martin O'Neil would be our new manager.
-
The problem is we have a similar situation to when we had Lowe in charge. Great opportunity for a manager to come in but having a complete tosser in charge limits who you can attract. A football manager's career is a funny one, many good managers wont touch the SFC job because of Cortese IMO.
-
Sometimes I think SFC is cursed, this was supposed to be the year we walked the league. 4 games in and our billionare owner is dead, manager's sacked and we have a complete idiot running the club.

"Unfounded" speculation and rumour in the Echo.....

He's right though. -
I ****ing hope it's not that **** Les Reed

Be willing to work with a complete nutjob.
-
Completely bonkers.
-
Of course we want to win it, but we can't let it effect our League performances and I believe the extra games the JPT gives you does end up being a distraction in terms of preparation/tireness/injuries and suspensions. Man U want to win everything, but there is a reason why they play their reserves in the lesser games. Chuck our reserves out against Swindon, if we win then great.
-
I don't want to lose it but I would definitely rest a few players. People say teams like Man U etc win leagues and cups - true but they also play their reserves for the minor comps - we should too.
-
Totally agree, the left wing extremists are every bit as bad as the right wing. A guy at my work believes in the "all ownership is theft" nonsense. He actually cheered when news of 9/11 broke.

EDL and the UAF are obviously both a bunch of morons out looking for a fight. The ****ed up thing is that both their causes are essentially the same because EDL are also against a form of facism. If the UAF had any brains at all they would know that if they didn't turn up to these EDL demos then no one would take any notice of the burberry clad morons, there would be no trouble and they would get zero publicity. When things like this hit the screens every nut job in the country will want to turn up to the next one for a good old punch up.
