  1. We can only go on what we read in the Press and Crouch said in the Echo that Fry said 500K was needed or the club folds. That was clearly a lie because a billionare was interested.
  2. If the club are in the business of maximising revenue at all costs, as it appears, a good plan would be to just open one ticket booth prior to a big game then you will have to pay to park and they could lay-off some ticket staff and save some money. They could also wheel clamp anyone who goes a minute over - make a fortune.
  3. Alpine - you seem to have forgotten that it's over a month before the start of the season. Chill the **** out, there will be new signings.
  4. He didn't have to but my guess is even though he knew Pinnacle were a bunch of jokers he had nothing to lose by conning a wealthy Saints fan out of half a mill.
  5. I think you can only blame Fry for that, Crouch was told it was cough up 500K or the club would fold. I'm sure if he was told cough up 500K or a billionare will buy the club he wouldn't have chucked half a mill of his hard earned down a bottomless pit.

  7. 500K is a lot of money, even for someone of his wealth. True Saint.
  8. I wonder if there is any chance Leicester might want him?
  9. Dos this mean they are sacking the old bloke who told Keegan to **** off?
  10. Surprised he can't find a replacement, has got to be better than working for the NHS doing 11hr shifts and sticking your fingers up the bums of chavs.
  11. I see it's not just the police in Southampton who enjoy wasting our money... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/birmingham/10499030.stm "A spokesman for West Midlands Police said the force accepted the need for spending cuts but the decision to change the shirts had been taken in conjunction with the Police Authority and funding had already been accounted for in this year's budget." That quote just sums up everything that's wrong with the public sector - "it's in this year's budget so might as well spend it". If any business in the private sector had that attitude they wouldn't last 5 mins.
  12. If it's not bull****, "major changes" does not really imply a major signing. Anyway the vast majority of staff at SMS only find out about major signings pretty much along with everyone else. I'm guessing a ground redevelopment.
  13. we obviously need to make a few signings but there is not that much urgency, unlike the start of last season we can field a strong team with the players we have at the moment.
  14. If there was a big positive announcement, like a KK type signing, it would certainly go a long way to explaining the bizarre policy on ST sales.
  15. I really don't get what the fuss is about, the private sector has made massive cuts, now belatedly, it's the public sectors turn. I think it would make sense if they ALL took a big pay cut, at least then they would save some jobs. The unions wouldn't allow it though.
  16. Exactly, which is why he would welcome criticism and feedback on decisions he has made. He won't get that if no one opens their mouth through fear of upsetting him.
  17. Dumb idea. Arrange a two week break around Xmas then when the fixtures start again there will probably be two weeks of extreme snow meaning a massive backlog of fixtures around their precious Champions League knock out games. Make the useless overpiad ****s work over Xmas.
  18. We obviously need signings but it's a bit early to get stressed about it - even for this forum.
  19. I'm just going by personal experience, a few of my mates are teachers and most of them just ended up teaching because they couldn't get jobs in the the subjects they graduated in (WTF can you do with a degree in history nowadays?). Also at school there were plenty of teachers who just turned up, stuck a video on and sat in the corner of the room for an hour. There are obviously good and bad but 30K is a decent wage considering the time off they get IMO.
  20. I would say that is way overpaid, considering the amount of holiday they get.
  21. It looks like they are taking a bit of a gamble. If Saints are top of the league after a few games then SMS will be packed and they will make alot more money by having less ST holders. Remember, only the old farts among us can remember a Saints season where we challenged for the top spot - expect sell out crowds towards the end of the season if we're top. Also if the season goes to plan and we are promoted, there will be loads of people buying "New" STs for the next season in the Championship at the higher price than if they renewed. The problem is if we have a bad start we could see very low crowds at some games. Trying to convice people to part with £25 odd for Saints v Dagenham & Redbridge on a cold November Tuesday evening if we're in the bottom half will not be easy.
  22. No one is anti-Cortese, just questioning a few decisions made by the club, nowt wrong with that. If anything the club would welcome honest, constructive criticism and feedback.
  23. My guess is that they do not want to many fans with Season Tickets because they make more per game from tickets sold individually. Cortese is assuming that we will be top of the league and SMS will be packed regardless. And he's right, if we do run away with it then they will make more money by having fewer Season Ticket holders. Also by not selling Half STs the club can sting fans for the more expensive "new" STs the season after in the Championship. The problem is if we start slow then attendances will be a lot lower. I'm not that bothered by the payment plan thing in itself just disappointed in the club's attitude.
  24. Exactly, we are all grateful that Marcus saved the club and if Cortese had a role in that then we are thankful to him too. But they didn't buy Saints because they like the sound of Come On You Reds drifting on the solent breeze over Woolston, they invested in a business for the same reason Manderic, Gaydamack etc did - to make money. nothing wrong with that but it doesn't mean you should be scared of speaking up when you think something is being done wrong. To many plumbs on here live in a little fantasy world where they think posting on an internet forum will cause Leibherr to do a runner.
  25. Probably because many can't hear because they have their heads stuck firmly in the sand.
