Well I think tonight's result puts this thread to bed. Roll on Wembley and 2010/11.
-
not good enough
-
If we don't win this then it's game over as far as the leagues concerned. It's a good job we've got Wembley to look forward to and the skates to laugh at.
-
Does the administrator have any claim to future payments? Doesn't seem fair that HRMC and the other creditors will get 1p in the pound when future parachute payments will be due to the club.
-
Is there a chance that the administrator will take one look at the books and say **** this, I'm winding it up?
-
I expect the interested parties all have buying from administration in mind anyway. Hopefully they wont get a CVA and still get the minus points next season, jammy gits probably will get away with it though.
-
There's a difference between being hard and losing your temper and stapling your own hand.
-
People who bully usually do it through frustration because they are **** at their job and they know they are. Brown is not PM material, never will be.
-
My gut feeling is that the judge will put them in admin with the hope that the players will agree a wage cut to get them through to the summer. Then cash raised through a fire sale and Sky would give the creditors something. Wind them up next week and the creditors get zero and the PL is thrown into chaos, doesn't make sense to me. But then again HRMC are not that happy with football and want blood so liquidation wouldn't surprise me.
-
To get to 40 points Portsmouth need to average 2 points a game - that's the same as Arsenal.
-
Even if we go on an exceptional run the chances are enough teams above us will get enough points so it is very unlikely.
-
Whilst I think it sometimes makes sense to rest players, I don't think now is the time - we need to just go for it.
-
If these South Africans are serious about taking over on Monday they are going to need to have serious cash. They will need to stump up £12mill cash in a weeks time to pay the taxman, they will need funds to keep the club going until May. Any sort of investment is going to want to own the ground and land so they will need at least another £10mill for Chanrai, plus whatever Gaydamak wants. That's before any investment in the team, stadium etc. Surely if they are rich enough to chuck that sort of money around on a Championship club then proving funds should take about 5 minutes?
-
I do like the way he talks about portsmouth in the past tense.
-
I would say they are worse off because even after administration or liquidation, whoever owns the club will have to fork out £1mill a year in rent to Chanrai for Fratton Park.
-
Huge result, 3 more points against Wycombe and we're cooking.
-
Chanrai's loan was secured on the ground so it was always going to be his. They effectively sold the ground to pay the wages at the start of the season.
-
That's an ass-kicking.
-
Impossible to say, one thing is for certain though - they will say a deal is being done regardless of what's happening. They've tried every trick in the book so far, expect some businessman/billionare to be wheeled out Mon or Tues saying time is needed for due dilligence etc.
-
All to be expunged soon. Next season we will be celebrating 125 years of SFC and all the history that goes with it. Your club will be in it's first season, playing Totton.
-
Pretty much the same thing, they need to send a strong message to other football clubs to make sure they get paid in full and on time in the future.
-
I'm usually pessimistic but I can see us doing a job today, I think the players will be relieved to get all that cup nonsense out of the way and get a settled team again. 2-1 Saints.
-
The club doesn't own the ground, Chanrai does.
-
But at the moment they have no assets, zero payers to sell, zero sky money, if they can somehow make it to June they in theory will have something to fight over. They might want to teach football a lesson though, in which case pompey are definitely fish food.
-
You are probably right, their biggest problem is the fact that they have lost their ground to Chanrai and the land to Gaydamak, even debt free they would not be a good investment, all you would be buying is a bunch of overpaid players and a rent bill for the use of the stadium. But it must make sense for HRMC to keep it on a life support machine until June, I expect Muntari and co would even consider pay drops when the alternative is being expunged.
