  1. Does anyone know if their cases are similar/better/worse than pompey's?
  2. I hope I'm stood in front of Saint Stevo.
  3. Surely it's in HMRC's interests, unless they get paid in full, to wind them up? Otherwise it sends out the message to every other football club that you don't have to bother paying your tax and can bully HMRC into an agreement that suits you a few months down the line.
  4. I think it would be harsh and a bit dumb to sack Pardew just because we wont go up this year, we started on -10 and the squad was a basket case at the start of the season. Cortese is right to put pressure on him though, Pardew does have the tools to work with now, there should be an improvement before the end of the season.
  5. They must be able to loan out enough players to survive to the end of the season, then they will have the parachutes and maybe flog a few players. I suppose their problem is they have donkeys like Utaka on 80k a week, impossible to loan or sell. They couldn't even give James away.
  6. Surely it's in HRMC's interest to force the club into admin, at least then they know someone is going to be trying to recoup their cash. I doubt they will accept a penny less than what they are owed.
  7. Think actually watching the team would help you get a slightly more informed opinion though. Football is all about opinions, two people could watch the same game and have completely different views, forming your opinion from other people's is a dumb way of doing it.
  8. So actually watching the team has no relevance to your opinion of the team!?! I have heard it all now.
  9. A few weeks ago I thought the League was our main priority, hen the JPT (because we have a realistic chance of winning it) then way behind was the FA Cup. But now promotion looks very unlikely, even if we hit top form. We are a draw away from Wembley in the JPT and face the skates and are two games from Wembley in the FAC so it's hard to prioritise. Though the JPT is quite Mickey Mouse we shouldn't underestimate the value of a trip to Wembley.
  10. It should be an extra -2, Bournemouth had -15 because they failed to get a CVA and the fact that they have been in admin before made it -17. The Premier League might have different rules though.
  11. Whilst it's funny I think it was a mistake to help them out, should have demanded cash up front for the tickets and put more pressure on their finances IMO. It's not ****ing charity week, I thought we were supposed to be running a business here. If they can **** a hundred grand up the wall how about opening the whole ground for the less popular fixtures so we can sit where we want.
  12. Think Palace did it the day before their court date.
  13. If some idiot was going to **** their money up the wall and buy pompey they wouldn't wait until just after the transfer window shuts. Bill Gates could buy them now and it wouldn't stop them getting relegated.
  14. My bet is Chainrai will put them into admin Mon/Tues, makes no sense letting them fold (Would never get planning permission to bulldoze Fratton Park), makes even less sense trying to pay off their debts... "But it is claimed that Portpin have already recouped £14m - receiving £4m from the sales of Younes Kaboul and Asmir Begovic, and could write off a significant amount more in return for taking ownership of Fratton Park. The original £17m loan was secured against the stadium. If he owned the ground, as well as the club and all its assets, administration might not be so painful for Chainrai. Whoever ends up buying the club out of administration would need somewhere to play and Chainrai could recoup his money and more by selling the ground back again. A club wiped clean of the rest of its debt - they are already one of few Premier League sides without any long-term bank loans - would arguably be a more attractive proposition for potential buyers, particularly with the prospect of Premier League parachute payments to come. "
  15. If you like war stuff the beeb site is a fascinating read, 47,000 mainly first hand accounts of WW2... http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/
  16. You see similar things happen to every team, it doesn't matter who you are having big games coming up or just played does effect the players mentality. Leeds had a crap result after beatibg Man U. Even sides like Man U sometimes have had odd results leading up to big Champions League games etc. If we didn't have the distraction of next weeks two cup games I bet you would have seen a different result today.
  17. I didn't expect us to win today anyway, there are two massive games next week I expect the players have more than half an eye on these.
  18. At least we can focus on getting to Wembley, zero chance of the play-offs now IMO.
  19. That was only because we went into admin after the deadline, if Lowe had pulled the plug a few days earlier we would have took the -10 hit last season. I don't know if there is a deadline in the Prem or not.
  20. It is pathetic, if a Saints fan is traveling that far the club should go out of their way to make sure they can get a ticket. Unfortunately the ticket office is full of jobsworth ****s IMO.
  21. So the way I see it, Chainrai either: A) Chucks millions down a black hole to keep them afloat and effectively spends a fortune for a Championship club. B) Lets them go bust and writes off his £15mill but I expect keep the land and the ground for redevelopment. C) Finds a buyer in the next few days. D) Lets the football club go into admin and keep the ground holding any future purchaser to ransom.
  22. The guy at the The Echo sounds like a **** but Cortese is acting like one. Thye are like two babies fighting over a toy.
  23. There is no reason why their plans shouldn't work in the long term but it will takes a few years for the different parts of the ground to settle into the "stand up and sing" areas and the "sit down with thermos flask" areas. The idea that the Northam would turn into some sort of Kop is nonsense, you will just end up with the Chapel moving to the other side of the ground. Half the Northam would move to the Kingsland and half to the Chapel to be near the away fans. A lot of fuss and inconvenience for no real gain. By far the best solution would be to blow off a couple of corporate boxes and move away fans to the Northam Itchen corner. You could put the rozzers in the last few boxes, then they could enjoy their doughnuts while they work.
  24. Is it definitely open for the skate game? Don't usually drink there but it was superb for the skate game a few years back because the pompey mongs are escorted right past on the way to the ground, it's like a freak show.
  25. Moving the away fans will make no difference whatsoever, it doesn't matter where they are, the people who sing will sing, those who don't won't.
