David Sullivan was just on Sky saying he thinks a Premier League club will go into admin this year and that thre's a good chance they will go out of business altogether as "their footballing debts are more than the value of the club".
-
Pompey just sound so so desperate now, basically the future of their club appears to hinge on HMRC not knowing the VAT laws and the PL not knowing their own rules.

If I attempted to withdraw my labour I would be laughed straight onto the dole, as I suspect would most other people who work for small companies trying to fight their way through the recession.

That is a good article but sceptics would be right to point out that he is only calling for scientists to show responsibility about how their work is presented to the public - now that it's nad freezing cold. There was no call for such thing when the hot summers were being blamed on global warming. A hot summer/winter is as much "just weather" as a cold winter. I guess that's the point he is making but the fact he is making it now does hint at an agenda by the scientists.

Possible but unlikely.

I think it's fine to wear a Burka, but if they choose to do so they should expose their breasts as a trade off.

Alot of the stuff pompey are coming out with is just for show, they have to appear to be doing something just to stop the chavs rioting.

Didn't see any, just a few scuffles with police. -

It was completely OTT, the fact that there is a cage from the ground to the station meant there couldn't be any trouble anyway. It's a tad short sighted to say it was a job well done, if there were any hoolies there that were being "kettled" you can guarantee that what the police did just made them more aggressive, more anti police and more likely to kick off with someone as soon as the the police finished doing their stuff. The ironic thing is that on the train up we were worried about the Millwall fans (a mate works with one and we were meeting some for a drink) but they were as good as gold, even paid for our cab to the stadium and walked us to the away end. It ended up being a bunch of tossers in uniform that bullied us all day. -

True, but if you put enough people's backs up you will only make your job harder. I have certainly lost all respect for the police now after being told to "**** off I can make you go where I want". I know people who have experienced similar "kettling" tactics on protests, they too have turned against the police from how they were treated by the Met. I can only guess what it's like for asians in london who continually get stopped and searched. -

I've been to enough games to know when the Police are being tossers. The train pulled up at waterloo, there was a big line of coppers stopping anyone getting of the platform, if you were going to football you were pushed to one side and made to stand there until they decided to move everyone to a pub. the fact that we arranged to meet our parents somewhere else and didn't want a drink seemed lost on the retards. After the game it was worse. -

Neither did I, just got off a train and was forced to go into a pub in Waterloo station, until I reminded one of the tossers that it is a free country and I can go where I like. After the game i happened to be stood near some "known trouble makers" so had an hour of being treated like a bunch of criminals. I have ever known anything like that in my life. It's probably the same Met scum who beat up war protesters. -
Exactly, Pardew's tactics were way too negative yesterday, a draw is pretty useless to us at the moment.

After the way the old bill behaved yesterday at Millwall I think the less powers they have the better - bunch of tossers. -
If you didn't go to the game your opinion means nothing.

I think Bart is potentially better but at the moment there is nothing between them so Kelvin deserves to keep his place IMO.

You can guarantee that Gaydamak had first dibs on that Sky TV money if pompey had received it. That's the beauty with having some puppet Arabs appearing to own club, if he was still officially owner of the club there is no way he could pocket all 7mill and not pay the debts. if the club received the cash then the Arabs would just say there is nothing they could do about it, the conditions on the loan meant it had to go to him, and all Gaydamak would be doing is calling in a debt - just like all the others. Luckily the PL are not completely stupid.

We need to do something, the banking system is completely screwed up. They cause the recession, we bail them out with billions, the economy suffers with millions unemployed or taking pay cuts yet a year later they are making massive profits and gets huge bonuses again. IMO the whole banking sector needs to be nationalized, otherwise we will just be heading straight down the same road again.
-
That's all they owe NOW, their wage bill is unsustainable at this level let alone if they go down.
-
Backup for Lambert, at the moment if he gets injured it's season over.
-
It would be interesting to see what the PL do with their parachute money if they go into admin, they could just hand it all out straight to their football ceditors.
-
I think the PL are going easy on them at the moment because it looks like they are doing a fine job of relegating themselves anyway. Other small clubs are not going to want to set a precedent of having the book thrown at them at the first sign of financial trouble - it's not in their interests. If pompey somehow manage to win a few games and look like staying up, clubs like Bolton make sure action is taken IMO. It's not fair on the clubs who pay their bills to have cheats like pompey stay up at their expense.

I think Redknapp would make a good England manager.

With airport searches it's about using time and resources most effectively. of course everyone needs to go through some checks but profiling can target more thorough, effective checks to those more likely to be terrorists. I would prefer the Police to have the power of more random stop and search checks because if they can only search obvious threats then it is pretty simple for a terrorist to avoid being checked. Obviously this can be abused but I would rather have a few cases of victimisation than be more open to attack.
