To be fair, you don't sound like you live the life of an international rock star.

Whilst it's right to question the science this just stinks of a the politically motivated resorting to the desperate last refuge of "all science is corrupt". The NOAA is just one of many scientific bodies, I'm pretty sure they can all measure temperature. In theory it doesn't matter wether you measure temperature in warm or cold places anyway, there are local conditions effecting temperature everywhere, it's how temperature varies over time that's being measured and I'm sure the scientists are more than aware of the Heat Island Effect, I did that in GCSE geography. I would ignore any politically motivated articles anyway, either left or right wing, they will all have an agenda.

Why do people bang on about this "cease to exist" ******, it has never happened to a club their size and is never going to happen. At the very very very worst they will end up a non league AFC Portsmouth, even the tree hugging softies on here must find that amusing?

Pompey should win but we have a puncher's chance. Marcus is basically building a Championship quality squad here, after a few of theirs are flogged his transfer window that is all they will have. The gap might not be as big as they think.

Midday Sunday I expect.

Bye bye pompey and bye for me.

He was a Grenadier, so I guess that means his job is to chuck hand grenades at the bad guys. My point was I know **** all about being in the army so couldn't possibly judge on how good a job they do. Just like you know **** all about how much hard work goes into getting a degree.

My mate was in the forces and sent to Northern Ireland, he said he spent most of the time sat around the barracks bored out of his mind doing **** all.

Keane is a sad pikey ****, I hope he gets dogs abuse.

Sounds ideal for McDonalds. Plenty of employers see the value of a degree, even if it's not totally relevant, it shows intelligence and aptitude. Anyway, I don't expect you to understand but university is not just about getting people jobs, it's about higher education and research.

To be fair, students nowadays have to pay way more than what I did, I had all my fees paid and a grant. There were all sorts of losers poncing about repeating years and stuff at the tax payers expense then. I think if we want people to be educated we should pay for it, cut all government assistance and you end up with only the rich going to uni and all the good jobs will be taken up with thick posh in-breds who speak funny.

So you think the wise thing to do is ignore all expert opinion because sometimes they are wrong - genius idea, Delldays for Prime Minister. So when a doctor tells you to stop smoking or die you will carry on because "sometimes they are wrong - cancer was around long before cigarettes".

There's obviously been volcanoes, but no real noticable increase in the last half a century. Also I would guess that if Mount Pinatubo had beltched out billions of tons of CO2 in 1991 there would have been a noticable sudden increase measured. Scientists have looked at the data, are think they are better placed than you or me to decide what correlates better Man's CO2 or Volcanoes.

This is such a fantastic reversal of fortune. Just 6 short months ago, 28th May 2009: Saints appearing to be going out of business... http://www.football.co.uk/southampton/saints_unable_to_pay_wages_285854.shtml ...but end up with a billionaire Pompey appeared to have landed a billionare... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article6375213.ece ...but end up going out of business

Obviously Leeds v Saints would be the best final, but the most important thing is to put a shiney thing in our trophy cabnet and Carlisle would be the easier of the two.
-
Which big volcanic eruption is responsible for the warming during the last half a century then?
-
Of course there are other greenhouse gases, pumping out billions of tons of any of them would logically have an effect when most of the atmosphere is made up of non greenhouse gases.
-
Or Prem/Championship Saints could draw a non-league Portsmouth in the FA Cup - and really set the record straight.
-
Ignoring general scientific concensus because "scientists tell lies" is a pretty retarded point of view. I think people would take the sceptics more seriously if they came up with valid scientific reasons behind the recent warming (natural and man induced). Opinions vary wildly as to the effects of global warming and the time-scales involved, simply dissproving one or two's predictions mean jack ****, many many predictions will be wrong because science does not have crystal ball. I think much will be learned in the next few years, all we know at the moment is that CO2 absorbs more heat than other gasses in our atmosphere, we are pumping out billions of tons of the stuff and the last half a century has seen a rise in temperature of the planet. Only a complete ****ing idiot would ignore the opinions of experts given the possible scenario that lay ahead.

David Sullivan was just on Sky saying he thinks a Premier League club will go into admin this year and that thre's a good chance they will go out of business altogether as "their footballing debts are more than the value of the club".
-
Pompey just sound so so desperate now, basically the future of their club appears to hinge on HMRC not knowing the VAT laws and the PL not knowing their own rules.
-
If I attempted to withdraw my labour I would be laughed straight onto the dole, as I suspect would most other people who work for small companies trying to fight their way through the recession.
-
That is a good article but sceptics would be right to point out that he is only calling for scientists to show responsibility about how their work is presented to the public - now that it's nad freezing cold. There was no call for such thing when the hot summers were being blamed on global warming. A hot summer/winter is as much "just weather" as a cold winter. I guess that's the point he is making but the fact he is making it now does hint at an agenda by the scientists.
