Best media article so far on the situation
miserableoldgit replied to Sour Mash's topic in The Saints
Good article, and sums it up for me. -
Wasn`t there supposedly a "war chest" put aside to allow for a 5 year plan to get to the PL? This has been achieved in 2 years which, if true must leave a fair bit.

How long before we all calm down on this forum
miserableoldgit replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
All true. I would imagine that NA, being the sort of guy he is, wouldn`t want all of his good work wasted and would want things to carry on going forward. I am sure that he won`t want Saints to fail and get relegated. If he has a beef it will be with NC not the fans. -
Do you think that they (and Cortese) are completely unaware of the uproar the yesterdays events have created? Cortese is a ruthless business man used to taking cold hard decisions in whatever business he is in. He, and almost certainly the family will know whats going on but will probably put up with it because in their eyes he has made the right decision to carry out the next stage of "the Plan".

Nothing positive then??
-
Agreed.

Ok, "No protesting during the game", plan b?
miserableoldgit replied to UpweySaint's topic in The Saints
D o you not think that NC is totally aware of the fans feelings on this? He may be many things but he is not stupid. He knows how popular NA is and must know how upset his decision has made everyone, but he has made it for what he sees as the right reasons. I am as gutted and shocked as everyone else but there is nothing that I can do about it and I guarentee that if MP is as successful as NC expects/hopes NA will just become a happy memory to most fans. -
It`s a change of manager FFS! Doesnt compare at at with the shenanigans down the M27. It happens all the time. A shock - yes. Very sad - yes. Bad timing - yes. Right choice of replacement - who knows. Lets just see. Demonstrations during the game will achieve nothing aprt from distracting the team.
-
Totally agree. Only time will tell if it was a good decision or not, but we need to give MP a chance.

Protests, booing, boycotts are Not going to Help us Move on
miserableoldgit replied to Crowds's topic in The Saints
This ^^ -
In what way is this going to help? I am as gutted and shocked as everybody else (as I was when Pardew went) but I really can`t see it having any poitive effect. These things happen in football and it MAY just be that NC has done the right thing. Only time will tell but to condemn MP out of hand, even though most of us hadn`t heard of him is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction.

Saints only club in PL without undersoil heating
miserableoldgit replied to once_bitterne's topic in The Saints
When the stadium was being built, I did a visit and I asked about underground heating and I was told that it was not being put in as it was expensive and was not really needed as instances of games being called off in Southampton because of a frozen pitch were very few and far between. I suppose that this has been proved correct. -
Saw this review of Les Mis online, made me smile this morning; Went to the movies with the wife. We saw this obscure movie I had never heard of, some French foreign film. They must have been giving away free tickets because the lines were out the door. Anyway, the movie starts and Wolverine is singing his guts out. then Catwoman starts crying and singing and it's all very moving. The only problem... was, the girl next to me, who had apparently read the book or something, starts singing along. it was very distracting. so Wolverine is on the run from the Gladiator because Catwoman had a baby at Borat's house, but now she wants Wolverine to care for her. Time skip. A bunch of kids get shot, and in the end everyone dies. Four stars. ....and this Funny!

Really doesn`t take long does it?

Absolutely agree!! Seen them 8 or 9 times. Never fail to excite. Closely followed for me by Oysterband.

Indeed, though weirdly most of it is about Newcastle!

"These Tesco burgers are low in fat but high in shergar I just checked the Tesco burgers I have in the fridge.......... THEY'RE OFF!!!!!!!!! Tesco say that the public are not concerned about horse meat in their burgers according to the Gallup Poll figures" "Is it a coincidence that 'HAMBURGERS' is an anagram of 'SHERGAR BUM' ? And some more....... I took some Tesco burgers out if the freezer this morning..... nearly thawed, they are going good to soft! I complained at the checkout today that I had Zebra meat in my burger, then I realised it was the barcode"

Is it okay for Saints players to dive and cheat?
miserableoldgit replied to the stain's topic in The Saints
If Suarez or anyone else obviously and deliberately dives, I will come on here and complain (if that`s alright with you) but if Saurez, or anybody else gets involved in a situation like yesterdays, I will come on here and complain about the ref for making a balls up, because that`s what happened yesterday. -

miserableoldgit replied to the stain's topic in The Saints
No you won`t. There have been several versions/explainations of what happened but none of them have convinced you yet. You have a strongly held opinion and you are entitled to it as I am to mine. -

miserableoldgit replied to the stain's topic in The Saints
You have just proved my point. Laughing at those with a different opinion to yours. If/when JRod, or any other Saints player deliberately and obviously dives to get a penalty, I will condemn it as strongly as anyone else but I will not condemn him when in my opinion he did not deliberately and obviously dive for a penalty -

miserableoldgit replied to the stain's topic in The Saints
What is amusing to me is that those who think that he deliberately dived are SO convinced that they are right that those of us that think that he didn`t dive are dimissed as biased and wearing red and white glasses. Surely the fact that there is such a split of opinions on here indicates that the situation is not as clear cut as it might be. I still maintain that he did not dive looking for a penalty. That is my opinion and I am allowed to have it..........aren`t I? -

Thank you. This is basically what I was trying to say last night but not doing so very well. Hope that you have a tin helmet ready!! -
