  1. Ward Prowse and Lallana working hard. Rodriguez too though he and Fox not on same wavelength. Guly a decent and willing outlet but Punch v poor thus far. Not altogether bad.
  2. Given Mackail-Smith's subsequent 'success' maybe NC's offer was nearer the mark than the crazy amount BHA paid for him...
  3. Looks like the Trust is resorting to accepting family members as capital assets in their bid to oust Chanrai, according to this post in the News: "14/08/2012 6:08 PM BST LI 125 The Trust have got my brother and my pledge and I hope they get the club one day. To suggest giving the manager a budget of 4m would be nothing short of financial suicide, given the debt that has recently increased."
  4. Judging by the cast/boot and the camera in the background, I reckon Cork is re-making Hitchcock's 'Rear Window'.....
  5. Ok - so are you saying you would rather have WHU's 4 or so signings, or Reading's signings, rather than our 4 so far? Or would you rather we wait a reasonable amount of time for the right people? I am sure we are working on deals every minute of every day - you would have to be a fool to think otherwise - and NA has stated the areas which need attention. Deals take time in the real world; what more can we reasonably ask of the club right now??
  6. Yes, a fair point. However, if things are quiet across the board, inevitably we too will be affected by the lack of activity. I suppose it's rather like being in a chain when buying a house; if the selling club hasn't found a replacement, or wants to push it to the deadline day wire, things will necessarily be going more slowly.
  7. But Mulletsaint's point, which you quote, is that it is quiet everywhere at the moment. That might be for a number of reasons, but it means we are not alone in waiting for things to happen. Besides which, as many others have stated, still waters run deep; bound to be loads going on behind the scenes. Patience required by all, methinks....
  8. Is it just me, or has this forum really gone downhill in recent months?
  9. It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Saintsweb forum, which finally passed away this evening after a long illness.
  10. Any news , Benali-shorts?
  11. Quite agree with Adrian. Living in Medway, I have seen Paulo play for Gillingham 10 or 15 times. He is an excellent goalkeeper with maturity beyond his years, and he will only get better. Anybody writing him off for one poor kick out is, quite frankly, beyond hope.
  12. Interviewer at h-t stated in chat with Steven Davis that he was Recovering from a double hernia op; was this known about by anybody outside the club? Can't recall it being mentioned.
  13. Benali-Shorts on the Buettner thread is claiming deal is now on verge of being done.
  14. Fair-ish point, minus the sarcasm. Doesn't detract from the fact that it is clearly not PROVEN that you NEED established PL players to survive, or do well.
  15. Can anybody recall, off the top of their heads, which big name, 'quality' established PL players Norwich and Swansea signed last summer? Any names spring to mind? No, me neither......and yet both of those teams did more than OK.
  16. Any further news on this front?
  17. Does anybody else find they get to 6 mins from the end and then it freezes? Or is it just me?! Yet to see Sharp's hat-trick goal!
  18. Living in Medway, close (but not too close ;-)) to Gills' stadium, I have seen a lot of Paulo and trust me, he is an excellent goalkeeper who should only get better. I have never seen Butland play, but he would have to go some to beat what I have already seen of our new signing.
  19. Ahhh yes, but will it have a monkey chicken petting zoo? Well? No, thought not.
  20. I wonder if Stoke fans are currently bemoaning how unoriginal their new home shirt is, and how they could try to do something different instead of just red and white stripes with a slightly different collar..... On an unrelated note, it looks like Crouchy has lost a bit of height this summer.
  21. Could be wrong (and apologies to all concerned if so!) but isn't Pilchards real name Colin Graves? That would tie in with the tweet from MasterCGraves and the post above about the Michu rumour emanating from him. Hope it's true!
  22. Yes, that's a really good read. For old fashioned (but true!) football romanticism, try "The Miracle of Castello Di Sangro". Cracking book.
  23. If you've ever read Simon Kuper's excellent "Football Against the Enemy", you'll know exactly how football in Ukraine works....
  24. Formation
