Just pepper Gomez with hard long range shots and make sure at least 2 players are steaming in to mop up his usual parries, job done.

I have to say Redmond has reached the peak of his potential, what you see is all you are going to get. Any moments of brilliance are more luck than of his own making. Since he has been with us he has indeed picked up the ball and run with it get to the box 2 defenders double up on him and he stops. Sitting in the crowd you hear folks crying out for him to take the defender on but 99 times out of hundred he either just off loads the ball or loses it. As I said on the Steven Davis thread, Davo has anticipation in his game, Redmond has reaction the only trouble is Redmond is 10 yards away from where he is needing to be reacting. Stood watching the Huddersfield game it was astounding just how true this observation was. Hand on heart for a young player some in Saintsweb land please tell me what actual improvement to his game he has shown since being here. Tadic thought when Puel said he wanted to build the team round him thought he had landed, he thought he was untouchable, hence throwing the toys out of the pram when subbed. Yup there are moments but a handful at most in each game is pretty poor show. Tadic and Redmond on the pitch at the same time is like having 2 Luxury players on the pitch at the same time: trouble is they are Lidl luxury not Fortnum & Mason luxury. Think I am talking hollyhocks? Just watch them both when they lose the ball for the umpteenth time in a game, they both blame every other player on the pitch.

Again it's nothing new, Lawrie McMenemy always said that we were a quiet bunch, but get us going and we are pretty noisy. He told the players don't wait for the crowd to get you going you have to get the crowd going, because overall they are a knowledgable lot. The comparisons to the League one Championship days support back this up, we all watched swashbuckling marauding football overall, that's how we got promoted 2 seasons running, the team played with a purpose we had goals raining in from all over the pitch. The second half of Koemans last season we were up and at teams and the crowd responded. Once dear old Claude got his feet under the table we have played almost going through the motions football, with very little pazzazz it's almost predictable which is no doubt why the goals have dried up. At the moment Pellegrino is trying to get the players to move the ball quicker from the side lines but yet the players still seem to be playing the inert football we were for big chunks of last season, there is no little or no spark it ignite the fans. On Saturday Huddersfield fans were noisy with the drummer banging away, and the bloke down the front with the loud hailer orchestrating the songs. But the Saints fans were not watching much of a huff and puff from the team more of the usual wheeze. And that was reflected pretty much across our small crowd. Driving "home" in the car Mrs JBS, my Sister and Bro in Law all commented on how quiet I was throughout the game, I guess I have gotten use to watching Saints players going through the motions and not playing how they could and should, no one is taking the game by the scruff of the neck to enthuse me right now, and going by the lack of noise I am not alone. What's worrying is if I feel like that, and I am part of the hardcore support of many years, then that is a concerning situation we find ourselves in.

For all of you pontificating about the value of Davis based only on your exceptional view on a tiny screen, you might as well step out of the conversation about having an opinion about him, if you physically pay your pennies and sit stand and watch Saints games with you own eyes then you are in a better position to comment on his contribution of the team. If you were at the game yesterday, you would have seen that he worked tirelessly mopping up stuff most other players couldn't be bothered to or could see would prevent an issue occurring. Next time you watch a game live in person, take the time to watch Davis and Redmond in isolation, Steven Davis has anticipation, Nathan Redmond has reaction trouble is Redmond is often 10 yards away from where he needs to be reacting. Fill you team up with Redmonds, hello Championship, sprinkle the team with the odd Davis you might have a chance to succeed.

Only if it coincides with my holiday an hour up the road:D

Tell em "seeing as it's you and you've been so polite, €50m and a pre season game at SMS and he's yours"
-
Then the judges crack pipe fell out of his pocket, whoever decided that was not at the game

Sod DM stick him straight up the front, won the winning penalty on Saturday, and against Swansea he probably posed the biggest threat of scoring, scissor kick, header and free kick, if some idiot hadn't wrongly put the goals 6 inches to the left he would have bagged a hatrick. Great news to get him nailed down, been a fan for many of the years he has been with us.

As I have said elsewhere, Tadic is living a charmed life at Saints, we seem to have him in the side for a "maybe this game" moment, then in the game "maybe he'll do something in the next minute". Boufal on the otherside of the coin just looks like he takes to the pitch knowing he will get subbed, knowing he'll miss the next game and in trying to avoid both tries too hard and puts in a varied performance through not being relaxed. Yet the bloke on the otherside of the pitch puts in another under par performance, yet is the first name on the team sheet!!?!!??!

Here's a thought; Saints have pretty much resigned themselves to VVD going, but rather than let him go for mega bucks at the opening of the window. Have let him fester while they got in players like Lemina and Hoedt at "sensible" prices rather than prices that are inflated by the selling team realising that we are loaded.

The last time we played them on that added Xmas bank holiday, a mate and me decided to catch the train from Blazingsmoke and have a bit of a pub crawl to and from the station, we had a most pleasant time with the Uddersfield fans we came across, in Yates post match they were still quite chipper, and found it amazing that they could smash us at their place but were complete pants at ours 2 seasons running. Anyway got our tickets, couple of nights away in Glossop with rellies, been supporting Saints long enough to accept what we are served up................ just someone please go in very hard on Tadic in training so he can't pollute the pitch for another 90 minutes.

Pretty much sums a lot of it up. Thought Yoshida was sponsored by Chubb fire systems tonight, running about with a fire extinguisher all that was missing was a fireman helmet with a blue flashing light on top. Towards the end of the game when he made that rash tackle (That he got away with) I think the bloke was knackered from babysitting Bedenek and McQueen who seemed to spend the first half in a cloud of rust dust. With Boufal I think he is trying too hard, he was winkling the ball away from Wolves players superbly early on, wolves player on his backside moaning ref had nothing to give. If he owned the compromising photographs Tadic and Redmond obviously have of someone high up in the club, and knew he was going to take to the pitch for the next 5 or so games for 90 minutes regardless of his performance, he might not feel he has to try so hard and relax. That clear cut shot from Tadic was a bloody disgrace, from someone who is supposedly so bloody great, he isn't great he is as average as some of the $Høitə the club use to spin and blow sunshine up our backsides about having just signed a pitpony every other team was looking at.... yeah looking at and going "we don't want that". The point with Romeu was about right too, aside from the brainfart on Saturday of trying to dribble out of the box into a wall of West Ham players resulting in their first goal, with Lemina at his side he did look more relaxed. Overall we are too bloody slow, Austin, Long, Redmond are too predictable, Gabbi can pull a rabbit out of the hat but the bloke is living off scraps........... I am just fat lad who sits up in the stand but have watched enough football down through the years to know what I am seeing across the whole pitch with my own eyes, and quite honestly I think we have dropped a böľłøçķ shipping an "unknown quantity" (to the prem) like Gallagher out on loan. The one saving grace tonight was the Wolves player Dïčķø was too fast damn for the rest of his team, that Reuben-Vinagre was also a handful for such a little bloke too.

Bit of a low blow to compare him with Fourpast!! Funny how some work and others don't, also funny how people's opinions are cemented in the the first few outings of a player. Went to the Palace game a couple of years ago on a dirty winding December Saturday afternoon, he was in goal palace won 1-0 from memory with a goal 2 keepers would have struggled to keep the ball out if our net. Palace tails were up and he without doubt kept the score down, following week he is back to the bench. Where he remained and I just thought "eh?? Give the lad a run". Still gets another one off the list............ might get a run out at Wembley too!

Saints 1st team player data/stats from Hoedt video

Thats brilliant, considering most oppos would pay oodles of money to someone acquiring that sort of information, you just did yourself out a 2 week holiday in the Maldives flying first class in your eagerness to post on here.................. That said you would have been rowing back from there as during your 2 weeks away whoever you sold it to would have worked out that it was bum info. Probably just get a late night knock on the door from some lads what Uncle Les knows, after they spent 3hours setting that shot up, only for some smartypants to read and fritter away a few hours in excel and post it on a fans website, when they hoped they could dupe Wolves and Huddersfield at least....... and just maybe Watford too. -

Getting him settled ready for the promotion push next season??!! -
If Redmond can stay on the pitch to the end in a Premiership game putting in a performance to make us look like we are also playing with 10 men too, then your wish of seeing JWP out the door is akin to standing in a force 10 gale and piddling into it!

Azpilicueta was given handball against him on Sunday running through midfield, arms and legs doing what they do naturally when you are running, ball bounces randomly up at him off a very close Spurs player unexpectedly and faster than he could humanly react to change direction, handball given, same ball same scenario in the box ref would have waved it off as too close. The lines of interpretation from refs are very fuzzy regardless of position and viewing it in real time despite a lino to help him out in most cases. On a different matter, seeing as it's now Tuesday I guess Nobles studs up tackle on Lemina and also his un-gentlemanly attempt at getting a reaction when Lemina walked away, is just one of those things that happens in football, as it was merely Southampton v West Ham.
-
Much of that is down to the miserly away allocation the club takes, Huddersfield sold out at just a season ticket stage if I am not mistaken
-
Think he has sharpened up over the summer, in the brief cameo v Swansea aside from doing himself in the first few minutes he seemed to knuckle down, doing what he can do keeping it simple instead of trying out Fabrice Fernandes Tadic as he was doing last season, and seemed to chip in with his defensive duties......... would have liked to have seen him replace Redmond Saturday.

It's the words from that great pre match video from a couple of seasons ago with the great lines "we've been to the edge of the abyss and come back" and "we don't buy success we breed it" Just reading this thread is quite funny, as a few football puritans are close on getting their knickers in a twist over them, when in reality it's nothing new in football, just a variation on the old Football rattle that could be heard at many footie grounds before they were banned as a potential weapon in the bad days of the 1970s. Damn sight better than those Vuvuzelas

Booing was out of order really, he served us well. Maya did him a favour by getting injured at the Confederations cup, as Loren had been brought in partner Yoshida by Poch, Fonte saw the writing on the wall and dug deep within himself and gave himself and us few more good years, winning the Euros at the end of it all. In these days when players are wired up to satellites to monitor their performances, just like Lambert in his last season any fan, as much as it hurt, could see that the peak had been hit and the journey down the other side had begun. in reality on Saturday we should have been applauding him, as his shenanigans last summer saved the club from having to tell a loyal servant of the club that his days with us were at an end. Even more so for the fact that we bought him for £1.2m in 2010 and sold him with plenty of miles on the clock 8 years later for £8m. Pretty damn fine bit of business when you consider some of the players we have bought over the years for good money at the time, and just slide away for nothing. And cheers for the penalty he gifted us, in getting done by a player only a year younger than himself...priceless!

Harmless enough, although a tad annoying last week because the kids were getting bored and just slapping them randomly. If they have a 40ft container of them to work through they will be just right on a icy winters day when folks have their gloves on. That bloke on the video just painted a target on his backside, worthy of a clack near him just to wind him up

With you on that one. Not long into the game he was signalling across to the bench that he wanted to come off, then when Maya went to play a ball to him in space he signalled "no" he didn't want it, then he saw out the game??!! Think he was also getting a bit hacked off at Redmond in the second half. I heard from someone with a connection close to the team that pretty much the first available bus out of Saints he wants to be on it.
