The Mike Dean list of crimes against Saints in favour of the big boys is pretty long, and yes that's one of them. Bizarrely on one trip down the Saints we listened to the Peter Crouch Podcast when Dean was their guest, I have to say he was good value on it, well worth digging it out for a listen.

Not seen it anywhere else, if you want to stump up £15, rather than sort through the cobwebs to find the HDMI socket, its on BT Sport Box Office. We have a newly promoted to Select Group 1 Referee on the whistle for this one, only reffed one Premier League game previously BHA v The Blades last December - He will have Mike 'look at me' Dean in his ear on the VAR.

Bizarrely they kept making comments about the size of his calves on the commentary, maybe that’s the issue regarding his socks, anyway it’s not the rough and ready days of Norman Hunter agricultural tackling in footie any more.

Seems fine to me - thought I had spent too much time yet again in front of my laptop when I notices the little tweaks.

What a goal take a bow. Son

I believe for International friendlies there was a limit of 6 due implemented some time ago. This came about after Sven Goran Erikson pushed the boundary by subbing 11 players for England v Australia (don't think it helped much as I think we lost) "Honest" Sepp Blatter got the arse at this and as Sven had been slowly creeping up the changes in friendlies, a whole team rotation was seen to be damaging to the product, I think Fifa get a cut of the gate revenue and England games did become farcical as the second half wore on while Sven was tinkering.

I had the advantage of watching that one on a dodgy stream with cameras up every orifice coverage. Does show why views do differ on here, I've sat in SMS watching the game from behind the goal, tuned into Sky for the Match choice thingy and gone blimey that was a bit different to what I sat through for 90 odd minutes this afternoon (ok they edit out a lump - probably ball out of play time).

Think folk quickly saw that whilst he may have the attributes to be a good footballer, it got shot to bits in the full heat of battle, the thought and intention was there but the moment of execution was snuffed out by the pace of the game and opposition players. "oh I was about to kick that"........ and repeat. A damning moment came up at Huddersfield, Obafemi had come on and was scaring the life out of their defence, and bagging his first senior goal. He took a pass from Mo, took it into the box got surrounded, played the ball slightly blindly to where he, and most players in a similar cul-de-sac, thought Elyounoussi would be arriving. Mo was just stood watching pretty much from where he passed the ball to Young Michael. Obafemi just let rip at Mo questioning why he was over there when he should have been here. Didn't Ralph have similar positive things to say about Boufal when he returned from loan last Summer?

I can see that from Boufal - I watched a couple of academy games where he was given a run out and his attitude looked a bit rotten almost "I'm too good to play at this level". One game I think a few of us watched he was subbed after an oppo nipper had run rings round him for the second or third time and he lashed out at him got a yellow, his head was gone so subbed. I have to agree on the Lawrie era, household names pulling on a Saints shirt, Dave Watson I would throw into that mix too. Jimmy Case was only brought in to paper over the crack left by Steve Williams leaving, and I think Jimmy and Lawrie only intended it to be a short term thing as Case knew his legs weren't what they were in his Liverpool pomp, (last signing McMenemy made) amazingly 6 years later he was still running our midfield. Probably find if you had the Lawrie from back then in the job today, Theo might well have found himself on his shopping list.
-
Probably find after the Shaw measured hack on Sunday, his head wobbles, and we find Shaw being offered on loan as Williams is considered the safer head on the pitch.

A plucky 8th and a cup run.
-
He was at a dinner held at SMS just before Christmas - Franny, Matty, Beatts, Cockeril, and Jo very pleasant evening.
-
As an aside, I saw on the BBC that Fulham had been busy boys hoovering up 3 including RLC - Lemina must be laying in bed this morning thinking of all the things he can do in London on a match day having so much money burning a hole in his pocket.
-
I guess with the log jam these “stinkers” was causing, someone had a sensible moment and like real life decided to finally go “Ah well clear them out and wipe our mouth”.

Hardly a surprise after Shaws meltdown spiteful hack v Spurs

Guido Carrillo - Official: Free Transfer to Elche
John Boy Saint replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Think I might be indulging in a little something from my cocktail cabinet at that news - good luck to him. -
Maybe Ralph wants him as an alternative to Long for the latter minutes of games - wise old head instead of a naive nipper.
-
He is pretty local himself having grown up in between Newbury and Didcot playing as a nipper in Newbury, which is where Swindon spotted him and the we nicked him from them. So as a nipper he easily fell into the hours drive from the academy catchment limit (even though McMenemy won us dispensation on that ruling as not many football prospects could be found an hours drive south of Southampton)
