There is no doubt we are in strange times - Tuesday before the 20/21 Season kicks off and unless my mince pies have developed a fault, no build up thread! I guess with nobody having an away ticket in their pockets for potentially the crappiest view in the Premier League it’s a bit surreal that footie is back on Saturday. So here we go - I’m guessing Ralph will be picking the team that finished the season v Sheffield United as long as JWP and Ings return from Denmark unscathed. Back to 3 subs and no tea break in the middle of the halves, unless we have an Indian summer and the mercury hits the required temperature.

Quite a cunning plan by the parent clubs - "just play one game if you must", "but do whatever you can to miss the midweek game" .

Thought JWP did alright seemed to be idling on tick over nice and easy, whilst those around him looked a bit leggy. Noted when Walker went to test the hot water first, Prowsey was over to Southgate to get the positional message to take back to the team. Southgate and JWP have a good relationship going back to when he was his captain for the under 21s/23s - Southgate commented not too long ago that some might accuse him of being JWPs Dad. I just had a closer look to check against possible work and holiday dates - all away games clash so far so that's a bit of a result. Just have to get a result in the ballot or whatever they decide...................how weird I looked at those fixtures like I have for past seasons only typing this now I realise I will need to look through them again with "I hope I can see that game - oh and that one there" eyes.
