  1. Just give him some examples of those players who contribute to the team are worth more than those that can only stick it in the back of the net (cantona v owen type scenario). Performance isn't everything at that level, it's getting to understand the game and having a good technique. This will be a good test for him but probably one that he needs to make alone rather than have you by his side. All IMO of course.
  2. I think your view that Pinnacle bought exclusivity is correct but not for the right reasons. I don't think before exclusivity started, Fry did the appropriate due diligence for the Swiss group as it was known at the time as surely the names Liebherr and Cortese would be significant enough to dig a bit first to gauge the seriousness of interest. Either Fry persevered with the Pinnacle bid suffering from White coat syndrome or it was a major slip up not to find out more from the Swiss group. Besides, wasn't Pinnacle's exclusivity extended by a few day?
  3. Cambridge Utd, being selfish as it's an easy journey for me.
  4. I would doubt it, if PFC have broken an agreement then the next step is the bank demanding the money. If that is the case then either the PL are blocking it or the next step for the bank is to call Mr Fry. It would perhaps (ok a guess) only be to save a transfer step and any investigation in the PFC accounts of where the money came from.
  5. Well, I had us down for the play-offs but never thought about banging on about it. I'm sure there were many others. It took some weeks to get a team playing as one and it's great to see so many goals, however there is still a long way to go and the defence seem to be too generous atm. Let's hope we can get some cover for the defence what with the uncertainty with Trottman and injuries to the full-backs as well as Hammond in midfield. It could be the difference of just making it or missing out by a few points.
  6. probably out of expectation of what MB can link to from material on his hard drive.
  7. same here, I refreshed and click on the vote button.
  8. It maybe your posture or your positioning of your feet. I have problems with shin splints and have found that orthotics have helped. See your doc or a podiatrist and they will see what is best. http://www.feetlife.co.uk/ and congratulations for competing and finishing it.
  9. Any player with attitude problems is not a benefit to the team. Plus he's a loser.
  10. Last seven games: Lost 2-3 Drew 2-2 (cup game) Won 4-1 Won 3-1 Won 3-1 Won 3-1 Drew 2-2 For those interested in stats, out of the games listed, the opposition have scored in the following order: first goal 3 times, second goal 5 times, third goal 1 time, fourth goal 1 time fifth goal 1 time (out of 2) Whereas games before the Rovers game we were tending to score first then concede.
  11. St Will, I think most posters have worked out Alpine's style of posting. It maybe irksome, but it can be cut through and questions responded in a reasoned manner. I recommend you read up on transactional analysis for something that may help with answering the post rather than the poster.
  12. I think that is one chink in our defensive armour. Last season the defence wasn't protecting him so much and he was stopping the shots which were coming in more directly rather than the oppo having to get by the defence down the wing to put in the cross to feed the attackers.
  13. BoB always brought a lump in my throat. A great series telling a story of extra-ordinary men. Having no Sky is a bummer, I'll have to watch out for any torrents or watch it on HBO website.
  14. I would hope that would be a useful option. Wotton can do the role he is given well and it works against the limited opposition as we have many attacking threats which stretches them. I wouln't be confident when the opposing team has the attacking threat to stretch us as Wotton will not be able to cope.
  15. It would be nice to have a synopsis. Money owed is tricky to find a baseline but here is a first attempt: Standard Bank: £26m ?, not sure how much was paid in Sept Arsenal: £1m for Diarra sell on clause Chelsea: £1m for Glen Johnson sell on clause Watford: £0.5m for Mike Williamson Agents: £3m HMRC: £10 ? Barclays: £10m ? Monthly outgoings: £2m for player wages Income: £20m ? Sky money in Sept £12m Sky money in January ?= not sure of amount, happy to be corrected. Other outgoings need to be added but not sure what amount for the upkeep of Fratton as the price of creosote escapes me. Ownership club: SAF: 10% plus first option on land Consortium: 90%, two members suing Gaydamak Snr Gaydamak Jr: owns land around fratton
  16. If only it worked like that ;-)
  17. I have a tempur mattress which you do tend to get warmer by, but then you don't get the bed bugs!
  18. He may have options but it seems Gaydamak's company (MILAND?) still holds that ace.
  19. Apparently only a sore ankle after training. Should be OK.
  20. And so the rumblings go on... http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/oct/21/portsmouth-sulaiman-al-fahim It states the club has still got a £70m debt but at least we know who owns the land and who's fighting for it!
  21. Only because of the media frenzy in this day of 24 hour news coverage.
  22. Actually that would be interesting to see... but obviously not from a boro fan's point of view!
  23. I'm sure they have a good case for defence if there was plenty of goading going on, afterall, there is a precedent: $tevie Mbe gets off after punching someone three times because he thought the other guy intended to hit him.
  24. I'm not sure he'd want to jump ship after only three months. He's building something good here and he has the resources to achieve great things.
  25. Indeed, we want a happy crew on board the good ship Saints, not frustrated players who expect to be in the first team and cannot get a game because of too much competition. Priority seems to me to be with defence with Trotman still only a loan until January.
