Last post today ,but that is probably made much easier because Spanish teams generally play that way and do so from a very early age . Not nearly as common in this country.

Because managing an international side is completely different to running a club side . As I said in the original post Pep needs his players with him all the time because so much of what his teams do is automatic . The player on the ball will know without looking where his team mates should be therefore cutting down decision making time . This is not feasible when you only have the players for a few days before a game or a few weeks before a major competition . Those same players will then be going back to their parent clubs and quite possibly playing a totally different way. We have never had a foreign manager who could get as much from the players as Southgate has and as previously mentioned in this thread Sven Goran Ericson had players equally as good as the present crop and achieved very little.

Pep would be hopeless as an international manager . He needs to be working with his players on a daily basis to get his ideas across . Also he couldn't spend a gazillion pounds on getting the players he wants. Foreign managers are never going to work IMO. Needs to be an Englishman.

I am in the 9.30 window and I am having the morning of work to make sure no one disturbs me. -
At the game last night I thought the Smallbone disallowed goal was the correct decision but having just looked at the replay when the ball is played back across by Downes , Adams is off the pitch. I thought you couldnt be offside if you are out of play . When Adams plays the ball back to Smallbone there are 3 Coventry players on the line so surely he couldnt be offside then . Then again I might talking complete bo"£$cks

I have heard that because of safety concerns , which assume is toxic material in the stadium, there will need to be an inspection before Saturdays game can go ahead.

Leicester winning

3-0 Spurs in the end .I think we need another season in the championship because we didnt really lay a glove on Spurs.

As far as walking away from the ground after the match,I dont see where the coaches park will make any difference. I am in Itchen North and usually drink in the Northam club before and after each game and walk past all the away coaches . So if they are parked up in the industrial estate behind Chapel what is different?

When are 4th round matches due to be played ? Is the Hull game game likely to be postponed?

Rather amused that Chris Sutton has Walsall down to win 2-1 in his FA cup predictions

I got mine back in time to see injury time. The bits that I did manage to see make me think we have a few good youngsters in there if they progress as we hope.

What was fan violence like in the 80s at the dell?

I missed this discussion when it originated all those years ago but I think some of you will be sorry to hear that Steve Jewett one of the original Wimpson and later on Portswood boys recently passed away . I was at his funeral at Stoneham East chapel and that was completely full with well over 100 people listening to the service outside . The wake was held at the muni golf course and there were some right old hard nuts from the late 60's and 70's there . -
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67513747 I saw this and thought the ladies were getting a bit of national recognition ,but no. The goal is not even described correctly.

Surely if these teams are relegated .They will have the same problems as other relegated teams in that their best players would not want to being playing 2nd tier football.
-
2-0 victory .Top of the league

I have watched Ballard a fair bit and he is not an out and out CF . He is a poacher , he is not strong enough (yet) to be a target man who will hold the ball up for others to join in . I think if he was brought into the first team regularly now it would do him more harm than good .

I would recommend staying over the night. Sheffield has got plenty of places to stay without breaking the bank!! The big challenge is likely to be the industrial action that is affecting train travel that week. You may be better travelling by coach from London on Thursday or Friday and returning by coach on the Saturday... Or hitch a lift or see if someone else on here can give you a lift!! You probably ought to identify where you are travelling from for this. I have hotel booked in Sheffield for Friday night so driving up with mates . Going to stop off in Brum on the way home on Saturday and watch Eastleigh play Solihull .
