  1. Here every time. If there's something official, then there's bound to be a link or brief recount of the story. And despite many false alarms, this place does have a decent record of insights and heads ups on breaking stories. I don't think people should underestimate how informative and useful this site is (particularly to the many far flung Saints fans).
  2. Am I missing something on that link, as I can't see any mention of Mortimore??? Or is there more in the paper version???
  3. I agree with the bit about all the ex directors, ex employees, hangers on and even current employees, but John Mortimore was, and as far as I am aware, still is the Club President. Now I don't see him mentioned in the Echo (so it may not even apply to him) and he may even be totally OK paying his way and making a contribution, but I just think we need to be careful about throwing the baby out with the bath water here. Mortimore has been a good ambassador for this Club, never involved in any of the politics or squabbles (as far as I can remember) and as others have mentioned, he is often seen around Staplewood. I would have thought as President he should be given a lifelong ticket in the Director's Box. I think there's a big difference between providing a seat to the Club President and providing one to any number of hangers on.
  4. I know Denham pays the normal rate as he sits just in front of me in the Itchen North. Have no problem with ex directors or ex employees paying their way, but not so sure with the situation regards Mortimore. As Club President, having taken over from Bates in 2003, shouldn't he be entitled to a free seat in the Director's Box???? Or are Presidents expected to contribute financially towards the Club????
  5. Now if he really had been Gibsonesque or Majeskiesque, then I think everyone would have been much more forgiven. When you're pumping in that much, then whilst not above criticism, it certainly buys you a rather large stash of "Get Out Of Jail" cards!!!!!!!!
  6. There can't be anything wrong with nutjob, mentalist, dinlo and a whole host of fairly innocuous insults. Calling Sundance a nutjob is par for the course IMHO if you recall his behaviour on this forum (up until he was banned). After all, I've seen (and been called a lot worse).
  7. I remember saying exactly the same thing to that nutjob Sundance who used to post on here. Onwards and upwards.
  8. As it was near the end of the match, then needless to say a few pints and 18 years may have dimmed the memory. We were in the Lower Nursery and I thought the bowler (Bicknell??) was coming down from the Pavillion. I thought Ayling who I think was left handed cut it/slapped it squarish into the stand to our left (or if he was right handed he had to be up the other end LOL) and it went in either the Mound or the Tavern. From underneath at the very back you couldn't see fck all when the ball went up in the air!!!!
  9. I have to say that's one of the reasons I like Thailand, in that you haven't got a clue what is going to happen. Normal to surreal in 5 yards/seconds. We'll be taking Koh Phang-Nan in this time around for a bit, so thanks for the warning with regards one eyed longtail coxens!!! And going back to the naked Katoey, before she/he chased us on her/his moped she jumped out from behind a bush shouting Fck me, Fck me. 4 men combined ages of 120+ then sprinting to our hotel and losing our flip flops, only to be resuced by the Night Guard was funny as fck.
  10. I'll give you the others, i.e. Redknapp himself and some of the other coaching staff and players having an impact on the "experiment", but the idea that the fans somehow put the kibosh on the whole project is somewhat stretching it IMHO. For me SCW was potentially the right man, but totally at the wrong time.
  11. If today is anything to go by we could be calling for Andy Flower to make the jump.
  12. Lowe was trying, very trying;)
  13. LOL I'll raise you with 4 of us (1 posts on here) being chased down an alley to our hotel by a naked ladyboy riding a moped!!!!!!!
  14. OK, how about Bob Higgins??? Or failing that, Simon Clifford???
  15. Off that way at the end of the week (after a stop over in your neck of the woods), so will need to brush up on my Katoey spotting skills;) PS Take it from me, he never made that mistake, I bet he knew what he was taken on;)
  16. It certainly was, but there wasn't much in there that I didn't think would be relevant today (assuming it can be replicated of course).
  17. Geirges Prost is tied up at the moment, so how about tempting Malcolm Elias back (as he's been recently bumped out by Liverpool)??
  18. A good read, thanks for the link. At times this forum can produce some real nuggets of information.
  19. Apparently the nutjob got banned. No idea what for, but some of his ramblings were mentalist (as were his unslicited PM's he used to send out).
  20. I'd say it's on a par with that nutjob Sundance Beast!!!!
  21. Mark Robinson has been quoted as saying he expects Prior to be released and playing in the final. And losing at Arundel by 4 runs (although that flatters us somewhat) means we will be the underdogs. The toss will be crucial again.
  22. Thanks Ron. Must have missed that as the Club slid towards oblivion. Has anyone got any latest gossip on why he was put on gardening leave in the first instance??
  23. The 1991 Cup Final was the best for me as I had managed to see almost every match in the lead up to it. I can vaguely remember the Quarter Final (too drunk). I think it was Notts at home and we had one of those "boxes" in the Phillip Mead stand. There was some big argument when Terry was run out and Nicholas told Terry not to leave the pitch. The semi was at Edgbaston against Warwickshire and I can remember Aston Villa and Birmingham fans kicking off behind us, Hampshire fans in fancy dress behind one end and winning easily. Then the nightmare of the Final!!!! Chris Smith wasn't playing as he had left for Australia, Nicholas was injured and Surrey looked a big ask. Middleton steps in for Smith and scores a shedload, Ayling comes in for Nicholas and smashes a six into the Mound Stand?? and is there unbeaten in the darkness at the end to win the game in the last over!!!!!
  24. And I presume Hockaday had no chance at all either????? How about Henderson back to the youth teams somewhere?????
