Spurs certainly showing us how to go about winning a must win game at home!

Much as I liked Adkins I think you are being a bit harsh on MP he didnt ask for the job and 5 points from Everton Manu ManC Wigan Newcastle and QPR is probably a couple of points less than we would have wanted/expected but surely it is far too early to make the judgement you have!

probability of each finishing place given we have 10 to play! http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/Southampton.html our chances of finishing 10th have decreased significantly given the last two results but as Lighthouse points out they were better two games ago! It shows we currently have no chance of positions 1 to 9 all others are still possible but obviously with descending probabilities 16th is currently our most likely finish position at 22% probability and we have a 16.4% chance of finishing in the bottom 3. 10th place is still possible with a 2% probability down from 10% two weeks ago!

Back passing to keeper, why Saints ?
Saint Without a Halo replied to Saints Warrior's topic in The Saints
ERR one of the problems yesterday was a lack of creativity in the final pass and the fact we could do little else than lump it forward to a Rickie who was well marshalled by that tall lump of lard Samba! resulting in bags of possession and no end product. This is where our only really creative midfielder, Lallana was missed 2nd half! -
Perrennial relegation strugllers under Cortese? This is after all our first season back after a double promotion. Three and a half years ago when Cortese came in we had a team that probably just about matched Pompeys current one, Two and a half years years ago we had at best a mid table championship team in league 1 today we have the makings of a future Premiership team. We are in the process of building a solid team and it is not unnatural to stuggle first season back after two rapid promotions. Keep the faith there are worse teams than us in this league and we will only improve!

Adkins takes legal action over sacking
Saint Without a Halo replied to Graffito's topic in The Saints
Pobably on the grounds of constructive dismisal (would need to see his contract). But we have effectively sacked him even though we are honouring his pay. This is the same as appointing a director to a company and then making him the tea boy on the same salary! He has the right to go to an employment tribunal for full and proper compensation and a release from ongoing obligations on his part given the other party (the club) has not complied with its obligations! -
Lesser of Two Evils? Have you had a goos look at the Chairman of the other 91 league clubs? we are lucky to have Cortese! How many others would or could rescue a club languishing in league 1 (with a minus 10 start) and get it back to the Premier in 10 years, never mind 3 (just look at Leeds and Nottingham Forest for example as well as the way Coventry and wolves are going) even Leicester with bags of money and only 1 Divison down are making hard going of the task of getting back. I wont even mention the little club down the road and their various Chairmen. The only comparison success wise could be Norwich and Delia who seem well run. No one is perfect and Cortese man/medi management could be better he also has an ego but so do many other Chairman however in the list of successful current Chairman he cant be too far off the top! As for Lowe he did well keeping us up and built us a stadium but in reaility he made too many bad mangerial and investment decisions and its arguable that if it it was not for Le Tiss we would have gone down far earlier anyway. Also their choice in managers stand little if any comparism so far as both Pardew and Adknis contributed to our return and the early signs of MP are promising!

A few facts to balance the situation 1) SRL is 31 years old with at best a couple more top seasons left in him, Ramierez 21 so his price will include far more potential than SRL's 2) He is already a full Uruguay International at a very young age with lots of room to improve 3) SRL was 1 million 4 seasons ago I would hazard a guess he is at least worth 5 to 8m now 4) SRL has been playing English football for years Ramierez is still getting used to the pace and physicality of the English game as well as being in a foriegn country and environment at a young age So Ramierez will generally hold his price that is why we bought him! Be patient he will improve!

He will get better as we close out the season wait and see!

Newcastle 4-2 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction

Abu Dhabi local commentator in Arabic blames Fox as the one factor that changed the game! A little harsh me thinks! -

Pardew pretty fair and gracious in his post match interview said it was a great win not because of their position but because Saints were one of the best teams they have played and started brilliantly in each half. He also said without the new signings Newcastle of a few weeks ago would never have beaten a good team like Saints! -
It was an England game I recollect not a Toon one no chance of not knowing a Toon result in Newcastle itself even then!!

Ahhh poor you another day playing with the Aeroplanes?

Yes we could in theory if we win and they lose! But we are told Westham are as likely to go down as Manchester United Apparently so getting above them will make us as safe as Man U by that argument, even though the Hammers are playing dire long ball football and are bottom of very form table since the first ten games, and despite Turkish insisting they have been 11th forever! I see they are now 13th and begining to slip!
-
15 games is not a bit of a run it is almost half a season! Also we had an exceptionally poor baptism and tough run of games to start and took time to find our feet. What has been said is if we keep up our present form there is a distinct possibility we can climb to mid table! If you dont agree then fine. Reading is irrelevant to this argument! There is a possibility they may climb too however they are starting from behind us and just got crushed today by a wigan side we outplayed! So the probability of them moving up to mid table is less than that for Saints! Just ask the bookies for the odds! sure westahm are still in 11th now the question is where will they be after 38 games they have been on the slide and their football is dire and they are now within reach! will we overtake them? It is possible and the next 12 games will tell! I understand and respect your view that we cannot possibly get to tenth or overtake the likes of Norwich and Westham, so why can't you understand my view that it is possible even if not probable and leave it at that?
