Doncaster 2 up  -
Voting and majority are obviously concepts you don't understand, I think

We might find that no worthwhile manager would want to come here, all the time Lowe runs the show.
-
Maybe I should have done so, Vectis. Although it ended 1-1 and Wycombe are clear at the top of League 2, I thought Exeter played by far the better football. They kept a very good shape and fought to the bitter end.

Yesterday we went to watch Wycombe Wanderers play Exeter. For a split second I thought I'd moved into the future, seeing all the red and white Flybe shirts walking to the match (Exeter) - I thought we'd gone down and Wycombe had gone up I was chatting to Peter Taylor before the match and I asked him to come and manage us. He just sniggered

You mean you'll get the stuff for free

At least the skates got stuffed by West Ham

I was at Wycombe Wanderers yesterday and Adams was being talked about a lot at the end of match. Chairboys saying he was a nice guy but completely lacking in motivational skills. They reckoned he'd walk before he was pushed as he can't deal with pressure. BTW I also chatted to Peter Taylor before the match - asked him to come and manage us. He just sniggered  -
I think it's just about to be repeated.

That really made me lol - the irony However, I think we're supposed to be a 'for profit' organisation as we're a PLC and have shareholders - surely
-
I thought Dom Joly was good - for a first timer. Stephen Fry is one of those people I'd love to invite round for dinner.

I don't know that we're technically insolvent, actually. If we were, we'd be breaking the law by continuing to trade.
-
We thought it was brilliant. We did actually say 'what's he on tonight' when we were watching it. I love that programme so much

Bees have tried it  http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2008/dec/23/cocaine-bees-australia-drug-research

I think Adams will bottle it - the way he did at Wycombe. He should concentrate on his clinic where he's doing some sterling work from what I hear.

Woolies in Woolston brings back some memories for me I remember, when I was about 8, saving up my pocket money to get my mother a present for Mother's Day. I bought her a really garish brooche that formed the word 'Mother' and was covered in blue, red and green glass bits. It was terrible, although I didn't think so at the time. Bless her, she wore it for ages

Every Local Authority should now have a 'Whistle Blowing' number for staff to use in confidence. That's the only 'legal' way I can think of to report a concern. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful - it's not something I get involved in. If the service users are via the NHS, there is the NHS Counter Fraud unit: http://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/fraud

And I think the Football League won't grant the 'golden share' certificate to allow the team to take part in the division if the CVA isn't agreed? Or it could be 'golden shower' as far as our lot are concerned

I'm surprised you left then StG. Why not stay and fight the fight?

I've decided my New Year's Resolution! It is to find out where WSS's pub is and, armed with ESB, visit and have a face to face debate Have a good holiday WSS. I really enjoy crossing swords with you

- yes it was AND I asked about selling it on (eventually) to Social Services and was told that they wouldn't be interested AND I was told (by all suppliers) that a second hand system is no cheaper overall than a new one (because of the ADDITIONAL charge for the track) AND I know from years of experience both as a procurement manager in the public sector and now as an auditor of public sector contracts that suppliers will offer the BEST deals for new systems / equipment AND I know from the above experience that the cost to the public sector of selling on second hand kit (IF they can find a buyer) results in less revenue than the cost of administering such a deal Just as a matter of interest, genuinely: You presumably have contracts with the suppliers of equipment for your pub? Do your suppliers replace, on a regular basis, with new or with reconditioned equipment? I know, for example, that the NHS leases large kit (MRI scanners for example) rather than buying it because it is a more cost effective way of always having state of the art equipment. DOes the same apply to your industry?

Can't he get a representative to cast his vote for him?

But you're talking about money only! And that was kind of my point. It isn't about money - it's about valuing people for their compassion, care, contribution and dedication to the rest of society. This 'value' has to go hand in hand with paying people a decent living wage. Of course it does. But values are distorted if, for example, bankers get millions in bonuses for failing and a*se wipers get a pittance for what they do. At the risk of boring you, I'll repeat my mantra. People should be judged by what they are (i.e. their contribution to the well-being of society at large) rather than what they can buy. My son earns five times the salary of my son-in-law who is a special needs teacher. My son would agree with me that my son-in-law makes the more valuable contribution to society.
