Enjoyable game so far but I am getting tired of the ceaseless snide remarks about Saurez by the commentator - in the same circumstances I wonder what reaction there would have been to (say) Rooney palming the ball of the line, then celebrating when Gyan missed the penalty?

Yeovil But then that was as good as a home game for me (and a damn sight nearer), and I was sat amongst the home fans. Took a bit of willpower not to grin too broadly on the way out

Good post - astute and to the point. Essentially we had three players who at club level are regarded as the kingpin of the team and the club manager builds the side (and tactics) around them. Maybe Rooney and Gerrard can work together but if so then Lampard has to go, not because he is an inherently bad player (20+ goals in at least the past two premiership seasons) but because for whatever reason he unbalances the side. However, if Rooney really is as off-form as he looks or is carrying an injury then maybe he and Gerrard should go, because Lampard brought infinitely better form into the WC than Gerrard did who spent a season alternately sulking and fretting under Benitez. Jo Cole has to play the next game ...

Don't panic, it will happen to us all as we get a little older, and you can get something for it

I could quite easily see myself punching Rio Ferdinand in the face. And that series of YouTube videos just makes its easier.

Burley Sacked as Scotland Manager
Bushey Saint replied to the saint in winchester's topic in The Saints
My God he looks old in the photo here. He is almost exactly two years older than me and looks about 65. Poor sod looks positively haunted. -
Judging by Trotman's reaction to the Charlton goal I think there may have been a bit of lively debate going on between him and Jaidi, or another member of the back four: Harding for not closing down the cross, or even Lallana for the same 'sin'. But if that was the case then I reckon Pardew would have been secretly delighted, he just didn't want it in public on the pitch.

:smt046 Best comment on the board for a long time!

It is SOOOO good looking forward to match days again! :)

Not technically chairman but Mike Ashley has to be in with a shout for his outstanding work in royally scr+ewing over Newcastle United

Hopefully they will grab a winner. In the 95th minute. An own goal off of the back of James's head. I reckon I might hear the sound of Pompey hearts breaking even from here in sleepy Zumerzet :smt043

Granted, compared to Ayr anywhere (except Skateville) is like Monte Carlo. But personally I dislike the place although it might be guilt by association with Abbey Wood.

My deepest sympathy ....

That would be greatly appreciated as, with the best will in the world, I cannot see me being able to pick up a copy in the middle of the Kuwaiti desert

Reasons why you have not bought a ticket for Saturday
Bushey Saint replied to Amesbury Saint's topic in The Saints
Flying back to Afghanistan today so no, I won't be going, I have bigger things on my mind. Even so I might have bought a ticket if the god awful ticket office database hadn't refused to recognize me despite being a ST holder for four of the last seven years. -
Great. Last game before I sod off into the desert for six months and another toothless defeat. Bottom of the table, morale rock-bottom. Can't see us getting out of this.

What does "celebrate" mean? Guess it will have to be a celebratory coffee or coke as I'll be in Iraq by the time of our next home game

Who will you support if Saints go really under ?
Bushey Saint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Cheery little thread this, isn't it? That said, in the unlikely event of SFC being wound up, I may follow Ipswich or Yeovil having lived in both towns. Can't say that I'd support any other team though although I'd be quite likely to attend games on an opportunity basis. -
The whole ITV FA Cup coverage lacks class, from the embarrassingly cliche ridden opening sequence all the way through to their second-rate punditry. Not liked ITV sports coverage since Italia 90; BBC gave us Pavarotti and Nessum Dorma, ITV gave us stone busts heading footballs!

Anyone got beyond their seemingy blind hatred of RL and anyone associated with him, to consider whether in today's economic climate, administration might could do to SFC? That it could mean liquidation and going the way of Accrington Stanley, Bradford Park Avenue, etc? I'm no fan of RL but is that really a price we would be prepared to pay?

For the record: Christianity - monotheistic religion originating from the first century AD (AD = Anno Domini - "the year of our Lord") Islam - monotheistic religion originating from the 7th century AD On that basis its kind of difficult to see how "Muslim's (sic) have been doing that for longer than Christianity has even existed", no? Always useful to base any argument or opinion on fact

Heard that too, and joined in. But in my opinion there were also far too many in the crowd who seemed more prepared to groan at a misplaced pass or even boo when we were under pressure than to give encouragement. This did transmit itself to what is a very young group of players. I didn't see any heads go down, but I did notice one or two starting to 'freeze' - fear of failure taking over from the earlier confidence in their own ability. Like it or not, this is what negativity does.

So, no pressure on the boys then?
