They've just got £20m for Webster. Let them use that! -
Let's hope so. Will get them ready just in case you're right...

A holding message is now on the OS... https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2019-08-03/club-statement-southampton-football-club-201920-kit-release -
Oli McBurnie has completed his move to Sheff Utd.

Burnley are about to replace Heaton with the signing of Northern Ireland's Bailey Peacock-Farrell from Leeds for £2.5m. Great value for money there if they charge a flat rate for names on the back of replica shirts...

The non-stop player machine that is Aston Villa now confirm the signing of Marvelous Nakamba from Brugge.

Tom Heaton has completed his move from Burnley to Villa. And Bournemouth have signed winger Arnaut Danjuma from Brugge for over £13m.

So with Brighton about to spend £20m+ on Andy Webster from Bristol City and Sheff Utd about to spend £20m on Swansea's Oli McBurnie, other than Norwich and Burnley, do we now have the lowest transfer record in the Prem? Whilst I accept high transfers fees are no guarantee of success (see Fulham last season), surely it gives a sense of transfer market muscle? I know Brighton's outlay will be as much about Lewis Dunk's impending departure but I can't shake the feeling our ability to compete financially is diminishing even against our lower/middle table rivals. Hopefully, eventually shifting some of our unwanted higher earners will free up not only space but also our market competitiveness. I'm fine with Ralph suggesting we won't be competing in the £30 million plus market but surely the £20m - £30m market is achievable for us when squad space allows?

£150m for Maguire, Dunk and Webster? Jeez. Football is nuts.

Arsenal are looking to shift the liability that's Mustafi and the ageing Koscielny. I imagine they'll then start pushing for a younger, more mobile CB like Upamecano.
-
More a never made it than a defector but Jason McCarthy has signed for Millwall from Wycombe. He's carved out a decent lower level career, so far, and it'll be interesting to see how he gets on in the Championship.
-
Idrissa Gueye has completed his PSG move. Wonder if that means Everton will now go for Lemina? What better way to achieve his big club dreams than sitting on the bench of the side who invented the dugout...
-
I imagine Jose Fonte felt Dani Osvaldo expressed himself very clearly...
-
Sheffield United have signed Man Utd goalie Dean Henderson on loan again and Ben Osborn from Nottingham Forest. Prepping for a Championship return already???
-
William Saliba has completed his move to Arsenal and back St Etienne again (on loan). Spouted out a nice piece of nonsense to get the Arsenal fans onside and so they remember they even signed him, this time next year:

I think it goes to show how poor the 3 relegated sides were in the Premier League last season that there's been very little interest in any of their players even from lower table sides like us. Ryan Sessegnon is the stand out player from any of the 3 teams (and he's been long linked with Spurs) but after him there's only been some partial interest in Aleksandar Mitrovic (who has signed a new 5 year deal with Fulham anyway) and Philip Billing, who Bompey seem to be keen on.

Arsenal confirm the loan signing of Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid and Jordan Ayew has moved permanently to Palace from Swansea after his loan last season.
-
Wonderful name, marvellous in fact. No idea if he's any good at football.

Chance for him to play in Europe again, I guess. He may see that as a step up and they're a decent side but Arsenal or Man Utd they ain't. -
And Pedro Obiang has left West Ham: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49106031 Can't say Lookman leaving Everton or West Ham losing Obiang does much to weaken either side. Probably just gives them a spare space on the bench at best!

Ademola Lookman has completed his permanent move to Leipzig: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49010835
