West Hams defence looking quite weak. Hopefully we can actually trouble it π€πΌ

We can put whatever we want on the table, none of those three would want to come here. Domenico Tedesco, Gerry Seoane, Ole Solskjaer or Peter Bosz (in that order) would be my choices, all of whom would be realistic targets

Joe Shields leaving? What the hell is happening???
woodsaint1 replied to stevy777_x's topic in The Saints
Its not so much the hype around Shields (who only seems to specialise in young players), more so the fact that we embarked on a new recruitment strategy and its back to square one after 4 months -
He came across as a billy big balls, more interested in his image and social media presence (#toniclikeleminade) than he was in putting the work in. In his defence, his time here coincided with some of the worst managers we've had so we definitely failed him in that sense. But he also went from Juve to Fulham within the space of 3 years and that wasnt all down to the managers
-
Mario Lemina. Wasnt so much his debut, but in one of his first few games, I think it was WBA away, he was immense. Remember it getting a feature on the MOTD analysis. Pity he turned out to be a tit

Think the word to describe the last two years has been stagnant. While there have been some good performances/results which have exceeded our expectations, they have been greatly outweighed by many poor ones. We dont seem capable of stringing a good run together anymore, just the odd win here or there. But we're very capable of going on horrendous winless runs. For that reason I think we're sleep walking towards relegation unless SR act soon. I still think our summer business has been good, and a new manager with fresh ideas/impetus is exactly what we need right now to help us push on. Hope for Ralphs sake this isnt dragged out as the fanbase would really turn against him, and he doesnt deserve that. A really likeable guy who has given his all for this club for the past 4 years. For the most part he has overachieved and kept us well away from relegation, with some very average teams and with little financial backing. Thanks Ralph

Laurent Blanc replacing Peter Bosz at Lyon. Wonder if this will prompt a few managerial changes. Seoane also free after being replaced by Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen last week. Would definitely take either here, though not sure they would fancy a relegation fight
-
He recently turned down Nice who are a much more attractive proposition than us right now (owner, players, location). He's clearly holding out for a top job in Italy or Spain as there doesnt seem to be any top 6 jobs becoming available in the PL anytime soon, although Villa apparently interested
-
Harshly criticised π. He brought it on by being absolute dogshit. Bazunu hasnt overly stood out, but he also hasnt done anything terribly bad. He deserves to play until the WC break at least. If he starts making more mistakes then we can take him out of the firing line, but not right now
-
Any lesser known Simeones or Contes out there? While we all want a manager who will bring fast, flowing, attractive football, we could also do with somebody who makes us hard to play against, aggressive, a team of bastards even. For far too long we've been so easy to play against and even bullied by some teams. For all the praise of ABK, Salisu, KWP, Lavia etc, I think we have the 5th worst defence in the league, with the promoted teams making up most of the positions below us. Like a foreign Sean Dyche π
-
No because what they've achieved at lower levels means diddly squat when they get to the pressures of the big league. Many examples like Scott Parker, Dean Smith etc. Cooper now has his chance and so far is struggling. If he is sacked this early, he has hardly inspired PL owners to take a chance on him
-
With that logic we should just bring back Adkins
-
When do we play Forest? Please let it be after we've got a new manager in place
-
Sorry, what? ππ΅βπ«
-
They've only scored 3 goals this season, yet still managed a win against us π©
-
I didnt say that it doesnt, Ralph should go and now. Just pointing out that people were quick to praise Selles as being the reason we turned it around against Leeds and beat Chelsea. The changes to the backroom staff have not made any difference. Either thats because of the level of autonomy which Ralph has, or they're just average
-
I was waiting for Selles our saviour to come to our rescue today. It didnt happen. After 8 games of the season you would think we'd see some signs of change/improvement with the new backroom team. Nope, in fact we've probably got worse
-
Has to go. If he doesnt then questions will start to be asked about SR's ambitions. Ralphs record under the new ownership is nothing short of abysmal
-
We'll sneak a draw to prolong the agony
-
Exactly. And although we havent had a clean sheet yet, we seem much better defensively. I'd be inclined to commit more forward and trust ABK, Salisu, KWP and Perraud to do deal with any counter threat. Set pieces are a different matter π€¦π½ββοΈ May be wishful thinking, but if we lose this then Ralph could be on his way. Im not convinced that SR will let this shitshow drag out π€πΌ. Hopefully we win though and can start finding some consistency
-
Didnt Neville do a programme a year or so ago highlighting the disgraceful slave labour used to help build the stadiums. No doubt he'll be very quiet in the run up to the tournament since hes got a cushy punditry job in the ITV studio. What a c***
-
Whens Lavia due back? I thought he was out for 5-6 weeks and we must be nearing 5 weeks already. Given Ralphs recent comments on AMN, its unlikely we'll see him for a while and therefore Diallo will still be in beside JWP. Ralph will also find a way to keep selecting Moi π€¦π½ββοΈ. Our home record against Everton is very good, although they seem to be much improved defensively. Hopefully an early goal and then we can build from there. A much needed clean sheet would be welcome too. 2-0 Saints - Adams and Aribo

The Possibility of a Proper Derby Match is on the Horizon
woodsaint1 replied to John B's topic in The Saints
I doubt this ownership will solely entrust the manager to decide who we sign. Joe Shields and Matt Crocker will have plenty of input. January definitely isnt a buyers market but we'll try -

Didnt realise Scotland games had a bearing on how we'll do this season. Che will chip in with his usual 8-10 PL goals. It's whether theres enough goals outside of that. Hopefully Mara, Edozie, JWP, Stu etc can get some goals. Our defenders are also capable of contributing. We're also only 10 games away from the next transfer window. We were in the market for a striker in the summer so I'll sure we'll be looking again
