  1. If we want to achieve 1880 temperatures, wouldn't a better starting point be to achieve 1880 population figures, given that it is mankind that is causing the planet to heat up? Reducing the population by about 6.5 billion people seems like a good start.
  2. I asked a question that I don't know the answer to, can you answer it or do you not know either?
  3. From that 'severe weather warning' we have the following phrases : I've made the key words BIGGER as you have a habit of missing most points. Lots of if, maybe, possibly etc. I can assure you that your 90 year old father living alone would have been absolutely fine today. The weather we had (seems to have passed now with blue skies and a bit of sunshine), was NO WORSE than any January or February rainy day (7mm rain today v 16mm on a rainy day in January!). Zero thunderstorms as usual - the last 'galactic' thunderstorm that was predicted yielded two rumbles in the distance. The point is not that the MET office is issuing warnings, it's that it feels it has to cover pretty much every eventuality with a possibly or a maybe so that IF something happens no one can blame them. That language is then interpreted by other media outlets as definitely going to happen and we're all going to die! It's akin to the Express and their constant headlines such as 'UK set to freeze for the next week' because the temperature is forecast to be -1 in the isle of Skye or somewhere. It's clickbait for the hard of thinking. No wonder you lap it up I guess you're in 'another country' on holiday with fuck all better to do than look at mong boards! You can thank me later for providing such a public service for you, as without my post about the weather warning in North Somerset, doubtless you would have been oblivious and continued to ignore your vulnerable, lonely father
  4. We didn't have any snow where I live in Jan or Feb this year - usually we would have at least 3 or 4 days of sleet or snow in that time frame, so I guess we experienced a 'heatwave'. Has your Googling of weather definitions discovered what the opposite of 'heatwave' is? Is it an 'ice age' or 'mini ice age'? It's barely got above 20c for the whole of July which is 5 or 6 degrees below the expected conditions of the area for this time of year.
  5. That's a lot of semantic bullshit regarding the word 'severe'. Definitions available here Arguably using the word 'severe' to describe a 'severe chest infection' or 'severe blood loss' is understandable. Using it to describe 'heavy rain' when we live in England is over the top. We have a 'severe' weather alert for North Somerset today because there might be some spray or standing water when it rains!
  6. ???? 8 - 6 = 2 doesn't it?
  7. No worries 😎
  8. Maybe we can lend them some money for the season. Reasonable interest rates of course
  9. What kind of retard posts a video of themselves on social media breaking the law? https://www.mylawyer.co.uk/graffiti-and-fly-posting-a-A76076D35092/ £75 fine incoming for her and up to £2500 for her old man. Definitely looks like it's going to plan
  10. You wouldn't be saying that if you received the emails
  11. And a recycled joke.
  12. No idea what your point is then! I thought you were saying those that can't afford to buy a new car could buy a different one with a similar value (that would be ULEZ compliant)????
  13. Eerrrr, whisky / whiskey....
  14. Finally! Too late though. Enjoy it whilst it lasts - forecast says it will rain at OT until Wednesday 9th August when it could be dry for the day....
  15. You're all over the place on this one. As the article points out, if you want a ULEZ compliant car then you have to pay the price penalty. Therefore buying 'a car of similar value' isn't going to solve the issue for many people.
  16. Not sure that fixes the problem.... https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/ulez-auto-trader-mayor-transport-for-london-nissan-b1097299.html
  17. Stranger things have happened, like looney Marvin insisting the city can afford to build a metro system!
  18. So, in your view, he's cuckoo for pointing out something that isn't happening. Right-o. You've already mentioned that people have a choice and don't need to drive which is fair enough, the same choice exists for living in a city...
  19. Until they change the rules
  20. No. Hence why I mentioned the additional seven years of building in that success. Although the local press is announcing today that two bus routes serving a school are being axed because they don't make enough money - which shouldn't be a problem as the Bristol ULEZ is there to fund buses.... Looks like they're not bothering with that bit...
  21. So they're not dropping down dead in the street as you previously claimed?
  22. Which is probably more likely to achieve in 5 years - unless his wife has a really short gestation period.
  23. Is he a 'bit cuckoo' for saying that or are people actually dropping down dead in the streets from air pollution?
  24. It's astonishing that the European Green capital of the year 2015 would need to invest in transport improvements to make it easier for people to walk, cycle and use public transport, especially since there has been another seven years of building on top of that success. https://bristolgreencapital.org/who-we-are/european-green-capital-award/#:~:text=Why Bristol%3F,environmental improvement and sustainable development
