  1. Me too, to be fair.
  2. I bet they didn't wait until the last minute. My guess is that they had zero intention to serve beer. I'll also bet they didn't even put beer pumps into the stadiums - that would have been a big giveaway for anyone having a look!
  3. To be fair, I think the debate about 'how' we got here is credible in terms of understanding how we get out of the mess. Many will blame Brexit because that's the lazy option that doesn't require any real thought, just hatred. Some will overlook the long term impacts of covid and the collapse of the supply chain from the far East driving prices up as they assume that's all gone away now that covid is no longer in the news. Others will focus on the current energy supply crisis, which is what has pushed us over the edge in recent months. Obviously I don't have all the answers but controlling the energy price issues seems the most logical to lessen the impact. The Government gave the OK for energy suppliers to increase the daily charge to every household to cover the cost of the firms that went bust (rightly so), but haven't noticed that the profits this has helped to generate has paid that debt back two or three times over already, so the simple answer would be to reduce the threshold on that charge - the Government wouldn't need to subsidise households and energy supplier's profits would drop back to a more normal level. The Gov't could then focus on the impact of the energy price rises themselves to keep the money flowing in the economy, but look to have ignored this completely after April next year. I suspect the recession is only going to get worse after that point as energy (along with food) is critical for every household.
  4. Isn't that the plan though, take money out of the economy, allow economy to shrink, thus reducing inflation. You can't do all of that and STILL have economic growth.
  5. Have you tried buying them sweets? On second thoughts, I think I know the answer
  6. To be fair, they did send the England team to Qatar in a plane named 'Rain Bow'. That should sort out the issues in a strict Sharia country
  7. Get a grip! The child trust fund contributed £500 to the total - but in reality that is probably negligible as the money (including the deposits made by me) were tied to the fund and could not be withdrawn whether it was performing or not. No point moaning about it, just accept it. Nothing 'lucky' there. She chose to continue saving, when, in reality, she could have taken all the money and spunked it on useless junk. Good decision that or is it just lucky? I agree, sometimes luck does play a part, you seem unwilling to accept that sometimes good decision create good 'luck'.
  8. Some of the choices were mine, some will be hers. The point is they were choices and not luck.
  9. Not necessarily. My daughter turned 18 this week and her child trust fund (that I've paid into for 18 years) 'matured'. She's now got around £10.5k. Fortunately, the conversation I was dreading went well and she decided straight away to save the money (I will continue to contribute every month). She's planning to study nursing at Cardiff where pretty much everything (course fees, accomodation, uniforms etc) will be paid for her and will work at weekends to earn spending money. She will then have to work in Wales for 2 years once qualified but at the end of her course will have around £14k for a deposit. A two bed (fairly new) flat in a reasonable area in Cardiff with an easy commute to the hospital currently costs around £110k, in 3.5 years expect that to be around £120k, so she can easily afford a 10% deposit. I'm not convinced that's a happy accident or luck, more 'good choices'.
  10. Not for an "average person earning an average wage" it isn't....
  11. New manager bounce, only lose 7-0.
  12. Seriously? You think a deposit of over £100k is ahievable for the average person earning the average wage whilst paying rent, bills etc etc? I agree about the must have it now generation, but if you think that kind of deposit is achievable you are way out of touch....
  13. Welcome Nathan, you've been gone too long.
  14. It's only really Tuesday and Thursday that need inspiring, not everyday.
  15. It's weird. Russia should have been clearing out the furthest reaches of Europe by now, but haven't actually managed to take over (and hold) a single provincial capital in Ukraine yet. So much for the mighty red army.
  16. So you'll be over the moon when we finish 8th in the Championship next season?
  17. To be fair, the celebration is about the foiling of the act of terrorism - I'd have thought it was right up their street.
  18. Not a clue what point you are trying to make. No-one has ever claimed that all illegal immigrants are Albanian.
  19. If a claim "might not be considered", that is a barrier isn't it? Not even complicated semantics. We do grant asylum to many thousands of people who do cross France. I don't think anyone is arguing against that. We also reject the claims of many thousands more people.
  20. Trail. He wants a trail, not a trial.
  21. Typical. No respect for the environment using all those trees. You should watch out for a vengeful smiting.
  22. So you're arguing for argument's sake. And you pretend you aren't MLG
  23. So you agree with the reality that he won't. Fabulous.
