What happens now, is EVERYONE on the forum should be issued with a Markus avatar for one week, which cannot be changed, as a mark of respect.

The benefit comes from FUTURE revenues. Look at Portsmouth to see how easy it is to survive financially in the prem. Not easy at all. Therefore maximising every revenue stream = more money to spend on players / wages. At the moment, this is almost totally irrelevant, but we have an owner and chairman that have ambitions for us to get back to the premiership. Then we will see additional revenue. Frankly, I'm quite happy that we've got an ambitious owner and chairman. I'm even happier that we appear to be trying to build that success on sound business principles which means the club will be sustainable in the future. Especially after last season when we came close to ceasing to exist!

You seem to think that 'selective photos' is a new thing. It isn't! Saints - and every other club - have always had the freedom to decide which pictures get released and which don't....
-
Apart from the Echo and the JPT final, just how many Saints pictures were in the papers last season? Probably no more than about 20 I'd guess....
-
Today, I did not buy the Sun or The Echo. Just like I didn't yesterday, or the 365 days before, and just like I won't tomorrow or the 365 days after
-
Today's newspaper is tomorrow's fish and chip paper! Two week's and the Sun will have forgotten all about this and will have moved on to something far more important like a bunion on Rooney's toe, or John Terry ****ging some glory hunting bint.

He should fit right in, what with all the hate that's being bandied around these days

But if they printed the truth they wouldn't be able to use their sensationalist "Clotese" tag....

Think 'Cilla Black' and the dating show - the name of which eludes me, as all I have in my head is 'surprise, surprise'

Perhaps there is a different agreement for 'cup' games???
-
Not really Nick. I'm sure you've been around the business world long enough to know that when a new management structure is put in place a lot of the 'old guard' will be upset with the new policies and procedures, especially if it means their 'cushy' job role is changed - I expect there were quite a few 'cushy' roles under the previous regimes.... I would take the post for exactly what it is, one ex-employee disgruntled with his/her previous employer.

Catchy name Does this mean there is now 'officially' only ONE team on the South Coast

Phil. You seem to be suggesting that our Chairman should tell a lie to cover up the reason why he has taken his decision. I suspect that once people - and the press in particular - saw through that hopelessly thin lie, all sorts of sh1t would hit the fan. As it is, we have a statement from the club saying in plain old English, not trying to dress it up or hide the fact at all, that this decision was taken solely and simply to make more money for SFC. And yet, look at all the grief this and other threads have generated on the topic, where the club have come out and openly stated the reason behind the decision! The whole South Coast would have gone into meltdown if the club / Cortese had been found out to be lying!!
-
The rest of your post becomes meaningless..... The simple fact is, you don't know, nor do I, nor, I suspect, does anybody. It was mentioned yesterday in the paper ban thread, that Cortese was in fact being advised by some media guru - we're hugely lucky it isn't Dubai Phil!!! - but whether or not that advice is being adhered to is anybody's guess....
-
Are you sure
-
If every club does it, the press won't have a choice....
-
Or ends up with everyone else 'following suit'.
-
Can't wait 'til the threads about the editor of the Echo appear, telling us what an outrage it is that the paper has not kept it's loyal customers up to date with vital information

Who is [presumably] employed by SFC to do a specific job and create images for the club. The club then owns the copyright for those images, and wants control over how they are reproduced - for a fee, you can buy them and do what you like with them.... Maybe this is so the 'income' from images - ala image rights - can be absolutely discerned, and appropriate taxes paid, thus avoiding the shenanigans that have gone on down the road??? Surely it also means we are 'getting our money's worth' from the employees [photographers] of the club?
