  1. Grandson: Would you keep it down? I'm trying to check the scores. John Boy: Wheeeee! Look at my glider! Can we have ice cream?! The grim alternative of watching Southampton, makes doing anything else that bit sweeter. 🙂
  2. One result of such intensively drilled systems, for us, is that it lends itself to having automatons for players. It's an odd balance. One one side, not having the highest quality team, a system can get us punching above our weight. On the other, our systems are mostly flawed, and rely on individual quality to dig us out. Something that goes against being an automaton. The result is that we've a squad with little to no leadership in it. Just lots of similar level players who need to be led by the hand in a system. Nathan Jones certainly mentioned how quiet the squad was. By the time he arrived, nearly all of the higher, more independently minded, quality players had departed. Martin inherited that. It was at the stage if you showed some Pashun and shouted a bit, you were considered a leader. So that was Stephens and Lallana. Horribly enough, that did make a difference on occasion. The rest were so timid, they needed someone shouty with them. It's just a shame our top shouty person has a glaring error a game in him.
  3. Perhaps one day, everyone else who laughed will believe you. But don't count on it. Here's Patrick's primer for you, in case you get confused again. Or perhaps you'll go down your other rabbit hole that evening, where all the problems in the universe are down to recruitment. 🙂
  4. There's only a hole in the ground because you kept digging it, after not being able to tell the difference between strategy decisions and recruitment ones, a few days back. 🙂
  5. No doubt the other three at least made some effort to avoid it. Ramsdale probably has more respect for those three.
  6. 🙂 Fun aside, that would be a no. I doubt any experienced, top level manager would align with SR's "genius" policies. It's not just cheapness as a reason they go for up and coming managers. Noone serious would put up with their nonsense. It would quickly end in acrimony. Jesse Marsch saw through it quickly enough to avoid signing up. One of those "Arteta quits after 3 days, after realising SR are a bunch of charlatans. Police also investigating a bump on Arteta's head, and a dodgy signature, both appearing just before he was announced as manager."
  7. Arsenal could line up as a guard of honour either side of an uncontested red carpet between the goals. We would still go in the wrong direction, and put it into our own net.
  8. SR will convince themselves that you meant they were exceeding expectations, and get back to that left field thinking that's worked so well. 🙂
  9. "Hey everyone. I know you are giants of fast food, running quick, efficient outlets. But...have you considered breaking all that?" Mr Ankerson's short lived career in the fast food industry.
  10. Out because of a scanning appointment. 🙂
  11. I will hear nothing bad against SR's new appointment! 🙂
  12. Yes. It only has power for a single trip into the past. So, I'm using it to go back and get my younger self to support another club. 🙂
  13. For all the clubs looking to fleece and ignore "legacy" fans, it's amazing how many other things are their to replace watching dross. Something they should all keep in mind when things aren't going well.
  14. Your sentiment was perfectly clear. MLG confessed to being a "bit of a twat" last week, and is just living up to it.
  15. Lovely day here. Local non league team at home. Could race back to watch us...saw 3 centre halves with Sule there to provide for Mr Rust...mind nearly made up then...saw that first had gone in, and decided to stay where I was.
  16. Their goal was a long passing move. You could see the layers of triggers VA have trained for, activate, then get by-passed. One in midfield broke from that, but hard to say if that gave them a little more room or as everyone else couldn't stop it either. A more direct equaliser from a cross from the right, getting a touch in the centre. That took it to a VA player, unmarked as their defence had been drawn into the middle. VA had one ruled out. Paris had a sitter and looked the better side on a surface VA weren't the most comfortable on. VA once again showing that they are not a promotion pushing outfit in this league, and fully deserved their position. As a neutral, it was decent. I like grounds where you can watch the world go by outside it. In this case the traffic.
  17. Well, he directed their sport...globally. Like it says on the tin. 🙂 Let's see... Not an achievement, but ticks SR's up and coming box by not being old. Worked at a high level in a multi club model. The clubs involved all at a good level. One of the clubs he's worked at had RB in the title. So, that gets a tick from all the other multi club groups that want to follow what they do. Another club he worked with had strong links to Player Farm FC, or Chelsea as we call them. Worked a lot with Ralph Ragnick, who is highly thought of presumably in places that don't follow man utd. According to one site, reduces ages of squad, the wage bill for them, and hones multi club recruitment models. All of which SR are in love with. All sorted of at that fluff level. The sites don's say if he got the coffee changed in the vending machines, or concrete examples. I guess we could look at the position of the clubs while he was there. But that might not reflect youth and recruitment that takes time to come through. Definitely a SR vision he's aligned with. Rather than just paying the going rate to get where we need to be, to fill gaps in the side sort of appointment.
  18. It's not a coincidence that Sargent is in there alongside Sainz. Norwich's lone attacker can be an isolated spectator without a really good creative players pulling the strings. They looked good back when Buendia was doing the same. That said, there's no doubt Sargent has improved season on season. So, not taking away credit from him. To have two in there, as their season has limped into midtable shows how good those two were.
  19. Global Sporting Director with infamous multi club owners, 777. Bad example? 🙂
