They just need a possession game, where passing out is more important than anything else. 🙂

If only there was a way of knowing just how often such practices were used, by how many people and in what areas of life...some way of capturing the data... 🙂

And on the other side, you have people believing in things that aren't true. One side thinks it's an intervention, the other thinks it's an an alien abduction or proof the pod people have captured their loved ones, because they know the truth, and must be stopped. -
A dreadful signing for everyone involved. TP brought right aint the end of the window, just as the tactic, and the manager were going out the door two games later. Under Selles, I saw him get into positions, only to walk back when our attack broke down again. He wasn't suited for the attacks Selles was looking for. I thought we might get him out on loan for this season. I guess the club added up the wages, the possible cost of the exchange player, amortisation, and the fee with add one, took a deep breaths and took a bit. Perhaps thinking that at least they got something back. SR caught out, backing Jones when his position was already untenable for many, and picking the next manager with someone he couldn't use, but who was closer to the previous tactic (that they failed to get a striker in for). He wouldn't have got a look in, under Martin either. He'll be glad to have got out, and who knows what a return to his previous form will bring?

Answered your own question there. 🙂 -
https://footystats.org/england/championship/xg Top of the xG league! On Manning's quote, there's still plenty in the media who see any victory as a statement of heroes and any defeat as the wheels coming off, on the way over the cliff. The sad binary world of hacks, knowing their ignorance at least gets clicks from the sensational headlines. Meanwhile, some clubs use a variety of methods to improve players over the longer term, without knee jerk reactions. If the system they're working towards is sound, then the results will come. How quickly they arrive, how many players need to hit their marks for the system to work, the usefulness of the inputs and the viability of the system itself are all worth monitoring. You can have all the inputs you like, but if there's a fatal flaw in the system then it won't work. Nothing wrong with preferring to work somewhere where you don't get shouted at for a narrow defeat, but where a fluky win is roses. On posession, the team will surely be looking at being able to play at pace, and when not to. Some teams need to get drawn out patiently. Others can get punished with quicker, incisive passing. At the same time, where there are clear advantages, we should be working to take them. Under Martin's system, that's a lot of variations to learn, to make sure we're taking the best options and providing adequate cover.

Since he didn't stop to make a 5 foot pass, he's clearly not been listening to Martin and is a long way from our first team. 🙂

I'm much the same. We overpaid for him, and he didn't set the world on fire. He showed some moments, but got caught in a system/ approach that just wasn't him. When he got moved to, and did okay, at left back I think the club simply didn't want a player with possibly some value, go for nothing. It did noone any favours, as he's basically been squad baggage, while the club hoped to get something for him.

Glad you didn't say "Let's have six consecutive games of starting KWP, Jan, HOLGATE and Manning and see how Baz looks at the end of that." Being talked out of hanging himself off the crossbar by the Samaritans is how that would have ended. 🙂

It seems that they couldn't even get shot of him due to reputational damage. Witness drops out and there's no realistic chance of confession. His employer have said " we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged." If his own employer is saying the offences weren't commited by Greenwood. And what was released was out of context, according to their findings. Then Greenwood would be advised that he had recourse to wonder why he was being effectively dumped, even at full pay. As unpleasant as it is, both parties would realise the further damage legal action would cause, and have come to this arrangement. There will be rug at Old Trafford, with a tell tale bump in it, showing where their internal report was swept. Neither party will want that to see the light of day. Greenwood admits "mistakes" in his statement about what he would like us to believe his values are. The club have found a loan solution. I read Getafe are paying a minimal amount of the wages. Another year of that, and he will be off their minds.

Meanwhile at the Holgate house... "I looked around, and the full backs had just vanished! Both of 'em! "inverted" what? I'm just getting to know faces, and none of them ended up where they were at training! So, I covered there, and that time I pushed up because our DM wasn't at DM. I'm just glad no one's pointing at me. I didn't know what the hell was going on!" 🙂

Still think it was a great transfer window?

He's never going to escape not extending that Bournemouth contract. 🙂
