Mine came in at 4.1/10 (very precise). Then I read Egg's post about the spine being light. I'd mentioned much the same, without giving it a weighting. With a very broad weighting, it takes my 4.1/10 down to a 2.6/10 rating against our last promotion side, where 5/10 would have been an equivalent side. That's losing your best central defender (Bednarek), not having a defensive midfielder, and losing both your best attacking midfielder and central forward, in Stu and Che. It should be noted that both sides have Baz, so not great there either. 4.6/10 in our last promotion season, would have got us 7th (72 points) 2.6/10 in our last promotion season is in the relegation places. (46 points) That 46 points should be the worst case. That's replacing your better players with players who don't step up. There's no reason why some/all of the new signings won't be able to show they are top championship players with us and ready for the PL. But it does give a broad indication, that when recruiting for championship level and moving on all of your better PL players, there's an increased risk of it not working out. You could end up pretty much anywhere. On the plus side, Charles, Edwards, Azaz and Fellowes all were standouts at their clubs last season. So, there's hope of a higher finish. Then there's Still's management supposedly getting us back to winning ways under a much less rigid approach. But we're 6 games in with 6 points, projected across the season would give us...46 points. So, that's right on the lowest end, matching that 2.6/10 window, exactly.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Holmes_and_Watson replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Just wanted to congratulate your model maker. Definite progress since Troy. Mind you, the sheep are small and who knows how far away... -
A definite no. Further, it was a poor signing. As were Stewart, Archer, Downs, AA (for the PL and centrally), BBD. The common denominator is that SR's recruitment model is not only broken, but shows an utter lack of knowledge in what's required to build a successful squad.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

Don't forget to tell them you're on your way. It gives them time to put down the beard oil and Guardians, and get ready to fake having actual businesses. 🙂 -
Has Spoors been taken in by another fraud of a manager ?
Holmes_and_Watson replied to Andrew Watson's topic in The Saints
No, I don't think so. I think SR's recruitment strategy has never changed. They look for higher risk/ less proven managers to run in parallel with their player recruitment model. This is where that goes. -

I've not seen the highlights. But Raskin back in and MOM, with Martin saying it might have been a learning experience for both of them. Tavanier in for Aarons, and there looking to be a bit more depth up front following the end of the window and the break. League tests to come though.

I admire your optimism that SR would get a lightbulb anywhere near the club. 🙂

I couldn't think of a positive. But we've definitely got the horses. So, we're half way to...somewhere. 🙂

Such a poor display. Hull have a side built on a fraction of the resources we have. It's put together to be the best that it can be, as a unit, and they've had rumblings of transfer restrictions over them. We, on the other hand, still go by SR's incoming mantra. Lowest possible individual wages. Buy potential. Make profit. So Hull have a core of experienced pros, capable of working together and digging out some progress in games. We have a group of players at a stepping stone club, who aren't capable of filling key roles in a football team, following the latest set of mediocre instructions from SR's latest "project" manager. We are where SR set out their stall to be, from the moment they took over. A championship level side, that they are cleverly maximising the potential of to rake in profits. Except, their appalling grasp of squad management, player and manager recruitment and the history of football has just left us with a championship level squad bereft of a clue, a structure and any cohesion. They have put in money, and have good intentions. Just let down by all of their decision making. Players who can look to be in the next team:- Stephens - who offered a couple of runs, that at least forced Hull to think. AA - Who looks frustrated at not being picked. Fraser - Put in more of an effort than any of the others. The rest can be added to the names of the away fans today, and put into a selection tombola for next time out.

Nearly concede right after it though. We were probably in shock at getting a goal.
-
AA consolation!

Big Sam wouldn't be hired by SR, because Big Sam would have seen through them in a moment, and demand a different approach. Only up and coming hipster managers are every on SR's radar. Mutual pretence on both sides.
-
I'm disappointed with Stephens. It all a bit mouth and hair pulling. He ducked out of that confrontation. If he's here for his aggression, I expect a bit more than that. 🙂

I'm wondering who to support in my new save of Football Fan Manager 26.

THB throws himself to the ground as their player just runs past him the other way. Well blocked THB.
-
Archer:- Offside Couldn't control it Got muscled off it Another forward incoming. Sorry... "forward"
-
Hang on...one of their crosses got headed by their own player... and when that happened it went in... That never happens when we do it. What a surprise. Experienced pros with a plan, get the job done over player traded clueless ones for the future.

Miles over from Manning.
-
In SR's minds, they dealt with all of those quickly. Brought in Downs Gave Stephens an extension Checked to see if Pep was still Man City boss, as one day Baz will go back there as number 1. Decisive stuff from SR.
-
"This could fall kindly for Manning" Who promptly gives it away. Like Downes in a previous game, some of our players really don;t know what to do in those positions or they are now scared.
-
Here we go ... Archer for Downs Scienza for Mads AA on for Fellowes
-
Downs link up... miles away from Fraser. Can;t put together a couple of passes in attack or defence. Hull delighted to let us have possession elsewhere. There's no threat. Hull making changes, while we sit on our hands.
-
No, we could still be in one of them and go down. 🙂
