And modelled by one our many invisible men from last season. Probably Stewart or Lallana, as the legs come off to pose next to the shirt. π

Kits for the Euros shown in one article. Some nice designs in there. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c873dgwlz8vo

If she was dressed as the vicar of Dibley, it's probably connected to the nun pics on here. And return the box to @Matthew Le God on the stadium expansion thread.

"He uses all his midfield grace, when putting out those cones," said Milner. "Our bibs are folded just the way you'd expect to see at a Champions League club," added Fernandes. Others see a career path ahead of them. "Adam is always pointing out thing that Liverpool do better," said Tyler Dibling. "And he waves a contract in front of me, so I can see Liverpool for myself, any time I like." π

There was some footage on the Beeb site. It's not something I'd normally watch, and my first thoughts were "why are the police trying to take down a guy with a sword with something you'd spray on weeds. "Unsuccessful" said the clip. No kidding. A number of additional injuries and lots of terror. There were multiple encounters with the guy, mainly because the police were not equipped to deal with it. Sure, things like this are thankfully rare. But why you'd expect officers to deal with all sorts of incidents without adequate equipment is a mystery.

Once Netanyahu is done with Iran and every terror group beginning with H, he can turn his attention internally?

Edwards and Charles coming back, after good seasons in the Championship could arguably count towards that. With THB and Downes still here, as is a hopefully fit Stewart, that's 5 of a starting team. But point taken. Regardless of all the backroom changes, has it altered our player trading model enough to build a team capable of PL survival (should we get there)

I was trying to find which coach indicated he wasn't that all-impressed with possession football. Instead I found a nice interview with Thornton, and a pic of all our 'keepers. https://goalkeeper.com/news-and-media/exclusives/post/dean-thornton-interview-southampton

For all I know Lallana cut a frustrated figure, failing to get any of his ideas implemented and trying to motivate a doomed SR squad. He could have a lot of good ideas, and find a connection to Still and Trollope. I hope so. I think he's still going through coaching badges, so it's a good role to get, with his playing career playing it's part in getting the post.

Just you wait for the hipster war movies, where Churchill will be making plans based on xG. π

I'm not close enough to it, to determine the responsibilities and autonomy each of the coaches has. I saw your post just as I was going to ask, on the basis of last season, what if anything, Lallana brought to the squad. Unless we could somehow have been worse, it was nothing that made it's way onto the pitch (much like Lallana the player). If Rusk gets the chop, why not Lallana and Martin? One day, I will look Lallana in the eyes. And when faced with his Saints past...we will eat ice cream. I have a Vienetta against him. π

60 billion isn't what it used to be... π 60% of what HS2 might cost. https://inews.co.uk/news/hs2-fraud-allegations-cost-pass-100bn-further-delays-3698024 Only twice the amount water companies were allowed to rack up debt https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-5078471/Britain-s-water-firms-flush-profits-tax-havens.html Not quite only double test and trace which a report said made little difference https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/coronavirus-test-trace-dido-harding-report-b1814714.html Our defence could be to spend 60 billion on lots of abandoned Brexit border facilities to line our borders at 50 million a time. About half a billion wasted so far on those. https://news.sky.com/story/post-brexit-border-control-post-in-wales-to-sit-empty-13388153 A report combined some of the above to show 60 billion as just 60% wasted by the conservatives over 5 years https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/127/public-accounts-committee/news/161243/government-has-risked-lost-unacceptable-billions-of-taxpayers-money-in-its-covid-response-and-must-account-to-the-generations-that-will-pay-for-it/ Not that you'd spend 60 billion up front on defence. You'd spend a fraction of that safe in the knowledge that incompetence from contract negotiations and various cost overuns casual observers may consider border on corrupt will take you towards any total you set. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59876757 It was getting 40 billion a year in 2022, with none of it's 36 projects "being on time and within the original budget." The levels of waste and pocket stuffing will increase a lot faster, at 5%, than our safety.

I can still hear the crackle of his brain melting on his debut. "Manager insists on short pass...career training says no....manager insists on short pass...malfunction...ball given away...malfunction..."

Much like my team, 3 points elude me. π

With the caveat of assuming he wants to stay, and is as hungry to do well for us, then AA gets into my first XI pretty easily. I'd be happy to see movement on a lot of the rest of the squad before him. It wasn't just the goals and assists the last time we were in the Championship. His work rate lifted the energy of the team. It also stopped any number of opposition attacks. Where he got goals was key, with him putting in shots from narrow angles from cutbacks. That gave us momentum in games that really helped with the season. As it stands:- Ramsdale, Bree, Welington, Bednarek, THB, Charles, Downes, Fernandes, Armstrong, Edozie, Stewart. We really need a Romeu DM and Adams Forward in there. Ideally, someone a bit more powerful than Edozie to balance out Armstrong on the other side. Charles, Edozie and Stewart would be getting plenty of minutes across the season. Squad:- McCarthy, Sugawara, Taylor, Edwards, Quarshie, Stephens, Dibling, Fraser, Archer Loan or Depart:- Bazunu, Larios, Manning, Wood, Bella-Kotchap, Smallbone, Sulemana, Juan, Aribo, Onuachu, BBD Youth to fill out the squad:- Bragg, Akachukwa, O'Brien-Whitmarsh, Robinson, Ballard

A few Yes and No questions. Were the vaccines risk free? - No Is "risk free" the same as "safe"? - No Were the vaccines "safe" for the vast majority? - Yes Did governments push how "safe" they were? - Yes Do they feel obligated to do so for the benefit of overall public safety? - Yes Did "safe" and "risk free" get conflated? - Yes Were risk based decisions made without testing all age groups here? - Yes Should the data have been easier and up front? - Yes Would that have affected take up? - Yes Was there a push to roll out vaccines - Yes Did that affect normal research and testing cycles - Yes Was there a lot of parallel, crossover testing reducing the risk? - Yes Did individual Big Pharma companies push their own products to be the ones to corner the market? - Yes Did politics play a part in vaccine decisions and distribution? - Yes Did that have an impact on which ended up being considered safest? - Yes The science underpinning the work, in a developing situation, meant there was plenty of data up front and available to make an informed decision. I don't trust politicians to make decisions on my behalf. I don't trust companies with vested commercial interests to make decisions on my behalf either. But the widespread data on risks and rewards was there (or enough for me anyway) Fortunately, Covid hasn't impacted me, and I'm glad I got the jabs. I think people are quite correct to question what they are being told. There are enough groups involved with an interest, well meaning or not, to distort information that can have an impact on lives. However, that information has to be countered with equally rigorous data and investigation. Then you can make a decision. On the Chemo issue, I've known a few people now who are choosing not to go through it. It seems like an increasing number, but that could just as easily be making more connections going through life, means I'm just seeing more of what was already there. Decisions are based on the type, severity and chances of success against the quality of life they feel they will get. Like @Turkish (belated condolences), it's not always going to work, and that can be devastating too. That's not to say it doesn't work full stop, or that it can't improve the quality and duration of the lives of people.

Football Manager and it's researchers such as @Matthew Le God A book review of Football & Racism in When Saturday Comes, contained the following. "...Ronny Blaschke has delivered a fascinating examination of racism within football, exposing the links to colonial attitudes of the past that still influence thinking today... A significant theme in the book is the common perceptions of footballers from such backgrounds, and the way they are portrayed in the media and beyond. Black players are valued for their athletic prowess - typically big, strong and blessed with pace - and their representation is top heavy in areas such as attack. By contrast, their white counterparts are deemed more intelligent and pivotal playmakers in midfield. This is particularly evident in scouting reports then reinforced by media narratives, in both commentary and punditry, which in turn influences public impressions and perpetuates certain stereotypes. You only have to take a look a player stats on games such as FIFA and Football Manger to see such thinking take subconscious shape."

That's not due to this thread, but from the increase in xG adherents on the site. π

MLG takes a tour group around the new retail city that demolished the postcode around the stadium...

Hopefully, some of that will filter down to the SR teams not in their top divisions. π

I've seen him a fair bit, Nd his game has improved season on season. Obviously, he does even better when he's got creativity of a Sainz or a Buendia around.. But he does well when given the chances.
