  1. Agreed Naive - but we will learn from it - we have to! - Give JRod and Mayuka time - they have not had a chance to gell by a long way and if playing Jrod in different position he will take time to learn this - he is young and should be able to adapt given time. Chappers or Hammond would have been good subs - but we also have to give Nige time - this was a CCC/L1 decsion which in those leagues have given us the game IMHO, but not so in the prem, where when we were bossing the mid field and causing problems, we should have goe for the 3rd goal and kiled it off whilst we had a chance - and if i hear that fricken annoying tired cliche that MU 'never give up' or I will sling the lap top through the telly... AAARGHH
  2. ... at 5.40 Ian Turner is wearing the Turk's favourite head gear!
  3. Nice - but when the video ends, there is a noice thumbnail of teh post FA interviews - always worth a look!
  4. I dont care about Harr's Portsmouth connections, I dont even care that he came and left - those things hapen in football - and although i cant stand his self publicising and media friendly BS or the media love in for hi as a result, this is football and you can and should really only judge such move (and I believe its all made up by the way) on whether he is a decent manager or not, and whether he is honest and trustworthy Those are the two key questions for me. On the integrity quetsion, well he has been found not guilty so from a legal perspective he has done nothing wrong - I would just hope that any chairman would read Tom Bowers 'Broken Dreams' in which Redknapp has a whole chapter to himself and his transfers and make up their own minds... enough said So is he a good manager - will always divide opinion - Yes he took Portsmouth up and won them a cup - he also took an under achieving club like Spurs to the brink of the champions league and had the football gods been rewarding quality and entertainment over defensive pragmatism, Barca or Bayern would have prevailed and Spurs would have been in last weeks draw... so is he any good? Well IMHO he has something obviously, but looking at that 'success' up against the volume of cash spent at both clubs, and you could argue that he HAD to succeed - the quality of players he had available to him meant any thing less and he would have been consider average at best... but the most telling in my book remians what he he failed to do with Saints. Forget the spending issue and the 90K. Ask yourself if teh squad he inherited that was 4th from bottom, with over half a season still to go was good enough to stay up? I believe it was - It was poorly motivated and in a rut, form was not great and we had injuries, but he should have bene able to motivate and do enough - yet his first words were ' they are not good enough to stay up' - hardly inspiring stuff and designed more to appeal to try and loosen purse strings and set up his 'excuse' than anything else - I simply believe that in the one time he was up against it and had to show his true motivational and coaching skills - he was found lacking - and if his heart was not really in it, he should have been professional enough not to take the job, or at least give it his all. Its no surprise that when the media discuss his reputation and there whole clamour for 'Harry for England' - they conveniently left out his failure at Saints when glorifying his abilities. So basically I just dont think he is good enough for us - Nige has been given his chance, but time waits for no man and the level of investment provided indicates that the 'plan' to establish ourselves and progress has been accelerated - Nige has the opportunity to show he is capable and in some ways he's a victim of his own success - had he spent an extra season building and learning in the CCC he may well be even better equiped, but now he has to show he can learn rapidly - and the pressure to succeed is rightly huge - you dont acheive you ambition unless you have the desire and drive - sadly the excuse that Nige is great and has huge potential (and IMHO will be a fricken great manager at the top level at some point), but is still learning is not one that can be used to justify no change should we be found wanting this eason - there is too much at stake - I think Nige is a fanatastic man, a great manager and if hearts were enough to succeeed and sentiment enough to keep you up then he would win hands down, but the reality is that sentiment wins no trophies, nor does it keep you in the premierleague - If NIge is not able to learn at a fast enough pace then I doubt we will see him beyond Christmas - and yes that will be sad. If the financila gap between [prem and CCC was not so great, then for smaller clubs like ourselves, keeping a manager long term would obviously be the best option, but we cant afford the luxury of waiting if he is not able to learn fast enough. If that sad and difficult decsion is made though, I certainly dont want Redknapp here though- he's just not good enough....IMHO.
  5. Got a feeling we will get something tomorrow and do the Gooners too 4-6 points after the gunners game
  6. Hopefully will change in future - This is teh last generation that probably still moan about not earning enough out the game compared to today - although they did Ok, many ' peed it up the wall - will be interesting to see, if others like Neville come on board when they retire as they dont need the money any more to do media work - but I daresay Sky like the 'characters' in that Gillete Soccer Saterday - the better pundits (no disrepect to Matt) will end up commenting on big games at grounds, not stuck with Stelling in teh studio - where they are looking for thsoe who make watching monitors for 3 hours 'entertaining'
  7. Think its great that we as fans are disspointed hes gone off to Forrest - I like the fact that as a whole Saints fans are not only appreciative of what Billy Whizz did for us on the pitch - the 10 in 18 helping us get promoted, but also appreciated his courage and all round 'topblokeism' off it. I know some feel that he could or would be able to do a good job for us in the prem, and probably if we played a more traditianl 442 etc and had him and Lambo up front it might be OK, but as its looking likely that we will be more 433 or 4231 etc, we needed more pace for that, and that was where we are lacking and I am sure Billiy would admit its not his strongest aspect. In Lambo we have the more tradtional, etc for when we need that and I guess we dont have time to reward thsoe who got us up with a season in the prem if we are looking to make more rapid progress than just survival? Yes there are others in positions that have remianed in the squad who are not as talented or have not contributed as much, but thats how it goes sometimes. Good to see all teh good luck messages and hope he delivers for forest as he did for us - but if we are honest, the club have to make decisions on what tehy feel will bring progress, not on sentiment. We will need to wait and see if they got that one right
  8. Sorry, my first line should have read 'I DONT believe there is a media bias against us...'
  9. Fair point, but cant see that relationship mellowing or Matty being welcomed like a long lost son, whilst he still works in the media - I suspect that part of the reason that our old guard such as Lawrie and Matty were 'shown the door' was precisely because they are often called upon by the media for comment and NC wanted to stop the media being used to play out our business or dirty laundry. The recipe for the NC/Liebherr cake needed eggs, so quite a few were broken, but its just a shame that those eggs were very close to the hearts of fans.
  10. I dont believe there is a media bias or agenda against us - that sort of paranoia is a bit silly - what there definietely is though is a great deal of ignorance about the club in general - OK a fair bit of that is Sky and these pundits focus of the prem and the top 10 clubs, which you can understand as its who their target market is - the armchair fan. So whenever they 'comment' on us, they tend to use old cliches etc as they dont really do enough homework. Add to that that controversy is better 'telly' and you have your answers. You could also argue that we probably dont support the media in their need for good stories - the 'Swiss' way tends to be more closed with a desire to treat business as confidential and private - Which while I agree with it, will mean we will be subject to a) more speculative stories, as ther is less word form the horse's mouth, and certainly while we sit in the bottom quarter of the table some 'mocking' usually agin based on ignorance. If we do end up progressing up the table, then our actions will speak louder than any words as they say... which would be just the way i like it! Merson, Lawro et al, simply ignorant about us and dont have any real interest in us either, so its alwyas nice when we prove them wrong!
  11. Voted No... but for the simple reason that I though the complexities of the split ownership deal and the rumours of constant changing goal posts might have fecked NC off and we would have walked away - As we have seen that these rumours were overblown and some possibly BS and NC and the team simply worked through any obstacles to bring this about. I think the biggest lesson learned is probably that if you expect a transfer to be all done in a day - then the price paid is likely to be 25-100% more than the value of the player - If you want to pay what someone is actually worth, the negotiation is always going to be more complex, and we will lose out on some players as we get beaten by a better offer or we walk away as no deal will be possible. Those suggesting it took so long because NC was 'out of his depth' are classic numpties. IMHO it took so long because we are not to be messed around with or naive enough to simply pay more cash.
  12. Forgotten how nice that Lambo goal wa sand the great set up by Lee
  13. I dnt disagree as such..... but we have concedeed goals through errors - and if we can work on those aspects, then hopefully the extra discipline may improve our record here rather than just improvemnets in quality? .... because wat was most telling against Man City and Wigan, is that to score from open play, you need to attack with pace and creativity if you want break down a Prem defence - Wigan's was not great but well organized and they sat back and simply absorbed any threat we had - we stuck two past City because we attacked at pace and they were more adventurous coming forwarf, but to me i think thats whay the lions share has been spent on more attcking players - sure we cant win if we shift a load of goals, but we cant win games if we dont score any either and whilst there may be a bit of the KK nutter attack attack going on with NC and NA, much more fun than the Chelsea 'defend' approach against better sides - LOL at them getting stuffed last night
  14. You cant judge this only on the amount spent you need to look at age, and sell on potential. Because these are young players, even if relegated, we coiuld sell Ramirez and the 15mil (assuming a breaken even average season for the guy) we would get would mean we could keep everyone else together for a ppush for promotion... If we have a realy good seasona nd ramirez really shines, chance are that a CL club may want him, but his value will be 25mil plus under thsoe circumstances and that means a nice budget for a replacements. We have not spent this money on any 'guarantee to keep you up signings' - but players wth potential to grow together - addd in lalllana, Lee, schneiderlien, gazza, ward prowse, luke shaw and yes we are still a CB or or 2 short, but it has the feel of one of these sides that could do something in acouple of years - sure we would proba;y end up doing a Leverkusen if ever we did, with the best moving on for very big money, but I am sure we would b happy with cyclical success based on investing in talented youth. The hope must be that thy have enough about them this year to not ony stay up, but do so comfortably.
  15. Rememebr that - classic stuff - although signing Keegan was like us signing Messi!
  16. Tis moderately amusing how they go from how great he is to 'not sure we wre interested' when he signed him.... someone should remind them they blew over 40mil on Carrol and Adam and both now gone... superb signings....
  17. The poll... well I always prefer being proven wrong in such a case and was more a sort of reverse phsycology thing really Only slight ele,ent of concern is that when we talk metophoricaly that he has signed I am 100% sure he has, i am alos 1005 sure saint Blogna is signed , but will the teh 3rd party stuff with Penarol be complete in time is the only slight doubt.
  18. This - clearly knows feck all about football and is hppy WUMing on about his obvious distrust of the the Godfather
  19. Hahahahahahahhahahhahhahaahahhahhahahahahahahaha - its always about the money - even if there is any remote truth in the Americal Government being gullable enough to spend research funds on this kind of 'woo' bool ocks - then its only because the woo spin merchants have conned the yanks into giving them 25 mil to sit around and do feck all and make up some more bo'llocks that when 'leaked' adds further credibilty (amongst the gullable)) when they come to selling their woo bool ocks to the gullable public... and make more cash from it...
  20. Alps will be happy - He's just gets nervous , antsy etc about these things - come on we know his character now, and it takes all sort no?
  21. Well after spending 25mil in teh window - demonstrating he is serious about staying up and building something - he can LOL at us all he likes in my book!
  22. excellent - remind me not to verbaly joust with you as your put downs are first class - you can say arse on here I believe though!
  23. This is going to sound odd... but can someone remind me where this pic is from and what context it was originally used?
