  1. Beckford reportedly has a terrible attitude. For this reason I don't want him. He has played in the Prem but my Everton supporting mate said he was the laziest player he'd ever seen who was most definitely NOT good enough for the Premiership. He's hardly doing it in the Championship either, Leicester might not have as good a midfield as us but its still better than the majority in the Championship. Even David Nugent is scoring a few goals for the Foxes and he really is ****e. Would rather have Sharp, someone who has proved his worth in the Championship this season even in a team which isn't really very good. He hasn't had the chance to prove himself in the Prem either. Can't see why anyone would want Beckford over Sharp - although it would take the heat of Guly (if you think he's lazy just wait until you see Beckford)
  2. Considering Cortese allegedly vetoed the Beattie deal, I cannot see this happening.
  3. If this were to happen it would be absolutely incredible. A bid for him is mildly believable owing to the Swiss connection. However, even if we were in the Prem I'd still give us no chance of getting him. I reckon almost every team bar maybe Man City would take him.
  4. Completely agree, which is why (although they are necessary) we need to be careful to recruit the right sort of players not just recruit them for the sake of it in Jan.
  5. That was brilliant - showed how much it meant to get back to winning ways. I love the team spirit this squad is showing.
  6. Lukaku would be fantastic - I don't think we'd get him though. If it were possible I'd like to see Kenwyne back as well - despite the negative comments on here I thought he was brilliant in our playoff season.
  7. I agree with the above comments - Ramage and Parr were dreadful. As for Guly, he scored two today but didn't do much else and I for one (like many around me) were expecting Connolly to replace him moments before he scored number two. At his best, he's one of our best, sadly he is very inconsistent. The fact is, if he was brilliant like he can be every week he'd be playing for a top six prem club and not for one in the Championship. We wouldn't be where we are without him and I want him to continue in the side (although maybe on the right of midfield should we sign a new front man).
  8. Would love to see us sign Sharp - I think he is exactly what we need. If we pushed Guly wide right and then had Lambo and Sharp up top we'd be pretty formidable I think. Sharp is a great finisher and would put away some of the chances Guly has fluffed over the past few weeks. He would also hopefully be a damn sight more reliable in away games. Of the names mentioned I think Sharp is the most likely, but knowing the new Saints way - we'll end up with some Italian we haven't heard of who will still turn out to be good even though everyone on here will get through the roof when he signs.
  9. Thought we were ok today, was a fairly routine win in the end. We weren't back to our best by any stretch though. We played well in the first half but invited them onto us way too much in the second. Thought Morgan was excellent as was Cork, Lambert had an off day but they marshalled him very well. De Ridder was good but his crossing must improve - ok he put a decent ball in for the first goal but all too many times he got to the byeline and then put in a terrible cross.
  10. Yep it was Cardiff.
  11. A good player, but no club in their right mind would pay that amount for him. I'd prefer Sharp anyway and that's who I think we'll get.
  12. First away game today (lucky to get tickets I know) but boy we are a different side away. We dominated the game and just didn't have any killer instinct. Guly was garbage, I'm normally a big fan but he was rubbish today. Adkins baffled me by bringing off fox who I thought played well. Harding should have prevented the corner. Was surprised de ridder didn't come on as his pace might have caused problems at the end. A striker in January is an absolute must. We need a clinical partner for Lambo as he can't Do it all. Very disappointed with a draw, we played well enough to win I thought but for me, Adkins made some mistakes today.
  13. Not unless the Hammers win by 6. Also Cardiff now winning.

    Ched evans ?

As I recall Evans has played regularly and scored regularly in the Championship in the past. All for giving Barny a chance if fit but he isn't. As for signing Evans - he could be good for us but would prefer Sharp or JRod.
  15. IN: JRod McCarthy (on loan from Reading if we can steal him from Leeds) Matt Phillips from Blackpool - thought he looked dangerous today. OUT: Much as everyone else has said.
  16. I would also like to know this - if he was back next Sunday it would be a HUGE boost.
  17. Might be a good option to mix the starting XI at some point - but not against the Skates - too big a game to try new things.
  18. Both very good players on an equal footing but I would go with Harding v the Skates - he played really well off the bench today both in an attacking sense and defensively. I was a Fox fan before today but Harding convinced me today.
  19. This is it in a nutshell. I like Deano a lot but as the season has worn on it is clear that Morgan and Cork are the best pairing. That's not to write Deano off by any stretch and I like the fact that we rotate them. Once Chappers comes back we will start firing again I think.
  20. Yes - every promotion chasing team has a wobble - this is ours and the way other results have gone we haven't damaged our position too much as yet. That being said, next week is massive as our the games against Palace and City at home. If we can get to January clear in the top two then I really think we will do it. With a fully fit squad plus another striker (I really think we'll end up bagging JRod) then I can't see us blowing it.
  21. Thought Morgan played really well on the right today - he was lost out there against Hull but today, especially in the first half I thought he was good. As for SDR, I think that part of the problem is the way we are using him - he only gets 20minutes a game and clearly wants more/to impress enough to start. Although he should have squared it today the fact he didn't seemed to show me that he is desperate to give the gaffer a reason to put him in next game (i.e by scoring the winner). I do agree with the general consensus though, at home we can play narrow, intricate football with the full backs bombing on. Away from home we can't do it and that's where we got caught out (especially at Bristol). Give SDR time I think he will come good for us.
  22. Lambert for me - he is our talisman and just so so important to how the team plays. Him, along with Chaplow are my favourites and right now I think they are most important to the team as a whole.
  23. I'd honestly rather have a half fit KD than Bart at the moment - plus Adkins said KD wasn't far away. My point is I'd rather a 50-60% fit KD than Bart and that is my honest opinion.
  24. He simply CANNOT play against the Skates - they'll have seen that performance today and will prepare accordingly. Not only did he cost us the win with that ridiculous spill he was simply terrible all game. Can't remember him doing anything well. When I've seen him this season I've been worried about him. The fact is, we didn't actually play too badly today - for those saying we did - it was a knock on effect from the back. Bart put so much pressure on the defence it was untrue. You could see that they did not want to give it to him. We lost our rag at the end of the game because we were behind with only a couple of mins to go - and whose fault was that? Oh wait.....
