  1. There were 2 other threads with Pre Season Predictions in them :- (1) 12th July - Early-predictions-for-next-season http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?31214-Early-predictions-for-next-season Although I was wrong with alot of my predictions I still thought we would finish 2nd http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?31214-Early-predictions-for-next-season&p=1086724#post1086724 (2) 1st Aug 2011-12-Season-End Predictions http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?31596-2011-12-Season-End-Predictions My prediction in this one was Top6. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?31596-2011-12-Season-End-Predictions&p=1103206#post1103206 And of course there was the Press Predictions on the 1st August http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?31590-Press-Predictions-for-2011-12
  2. He came on as a sub for them in the 63rd min of the reverse fixture when the score was 1-2. That was his 1st appearance in the 1st team. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10280~58230,00.html As I remember one of their defenders went missing for our 3rd goal - Guly free header from 6 or 7 yards. And somebody left the ball in a mix up with the gk for our 4th (Steve). It may have been him or one of their other defenders at fault for both those goals.
  3. The Football League site has 2 articles that go into more detail. http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20120425/league-clubs-choose-financial-fair-play_2293334_2748233 http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/FLExplainedDetail/0%2c%2c10794~2748246%2c00.html For example the 2nd explains what is included and what is not.
  4. Is this the statement from the Football League you mean ? http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20101024/pompey-exit-administration_2293322_2193579
  5. What a stupid thread, some people are still thinking it is about INDIVIDUAL players. The tactics this season have been to push the full backs up leaving our centre halfs expososed to one-on-one situations. Other clubs like Hoof-Ball Sam have played more defensive systems 4-5-1 or 2 banks of 4 in a 4-4-2 system so that their defenders do not get exposed. Nigel tactics have been to push defenders and midfielder forward at every opportunity and try and WIN games. By winning games you get promotion, by being defensive we would only have get us to the play offs. Since Xmas a number of teams have played 2 quick wingers against us in a 4-3-2-1 systems (3 tight central midfielders + 2 wingers) and then play the ball over our full backs in an attempt to keep our defenders back, but Nigel has still pushed our defenders forward, therefore it appears that our full backs are always caught of position. I expect us to be more defensive next season in the PL in most games and to double up on our defenders, therefore the individual mistakes that certain posters seem to focus on will not be noticed. By the way Jose has been CLASS this season, making the right choice in so many one-on-one situations. The 4 league games I believe he has missed were defeats against Bristol (0-1), Brighton (0-3), Leicester (0-2) and a win against 10 man Forest.
  6. There were 3 free kicks just outside the area in the game, 2 for Saints 1 for boro. The only 1 he made sure the wall was back the full distance was the boro one. The 2 that Saints had the wall is only about 7 or 8 yards back. As with the "sending off" (sic) the Referee was there to make sure that Sky TV have a game to show next Saturday. If boro had not won they could not catch cardiff and all the play-off teams would have been decided. All the relegation teams were decided yesterday. With the boro win, Sky can now show with a play-off game (Cardiff or Boro) or a promotion game. Also a Saints win yesterday would also have made monday's TV game a "dead game".
  7. What a load of rubbish. I believe Jose has missed 4 league games this season. Do you want to play without him ? Defeat against Bristol (0-1), Defeat again Seaweed (0-3), a 3-0 win against Forest where we played against 10 men for a hour and Defeat against Leicester (0-2). The first foul yesterday was by the Boro player, but imo the Referee was there to make sure Sky TV had a choice of games to show next Saturday (the "sending off" (sic) proved that). Now they can select either a Play-Off game or a Promotion game.
  8. I believe there are 2 sets of Prize money (a) average of £2.4M per Championship Club and (b) either the Parachute payments or the average/fixed of Solarity payments £2.2M. Here are 2 articles from that time which give details of the Prize money. When the rules were proposed in April 2010 the Torygraph said http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/7641526/Football-League-clubs-at-odds-with-each-other-over-Premier-League-payment-plan.html However, when the Football League past the rules "Ciderspace" (Yeovil supporter ?) said :- http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/asp/news/news.asp?NewsItemId=12427
  9. Imo the stats make interesting reading. I've have looked at the records for the top 6 since the 1st March, which I view as the run in. Brum & Cardiff have records of 4w-6d-2l = 1.5 points a game. Blackpool has been 4-4-3 = 1.45 ppg. Hoof Ball Sam has been 4-7-1 = 1.58 ppg. Reading have a record of 10-1-1 = 2.58 ppg. Nigel has been like Nigel of last season 7w-2d-2l = 2.09 ppg. We have averaged near to 2 ppg for most of last season and the early part of this season, so we have been consistent, but Reading record of 10-1-1 has just been too good for us. However if you look at some of those matches they have been second best in the game yet have still gone on to win the game and the 3pts. I.e. the game against us we had 19 attempts of which 12 were on target i.e.(19,12) and they had (6,4) yet they scored 3 out of their 4 attempts on target. Likewise against Brighton it was Brighton (13,7) against Reading (7,2) i.e they scored from 1 of their 2 attempts on target. Against HoofBall they had (11,8 ) and scored 4 from their 8 attempts on target (Stats from the BBC web pages). So as far a McDermott saying they have been the best side by a "long long way", I think not. As a team they know how to "weather the storm" when the opposition are on top and be "very clinical" with their limited chances they get. (Even on tuesday in their home game against Forest the stats were Reading (7,4) - Forest (15,8 ) (and I believe Forest had a shot cleared off the line late in the game). Things could have so easily have gone against them in some of those games i.e. Jos missing 3 near post headers (2 into the crowd and 1 he just missed the ball) yet he scored on Tuesday within 3 mins from his only chance. IMO they know how to get the "best results" but are a long way from being the "best team", because they have been "outplayed" by a number of teams.
  10. I agree with you. His pre match comments were a disgrace, he said things like he thought Nigel was "almost manic" (because he was was making positive pre match comments - yet the answer was in the 1st 10 mins from the players). He then went on to say that he always "got the same old cliches" from Nigel and then compared him to the "clown down the road" by saying something like he gave "honest press conferences" (?? Handball from Kitson last Sat !!!).
  11. From Incourts for yesterday it says http://incourts.co.uk/search.html (search for Lee James Barnard) From LawPages for today it says http://www.thelawpages.com/court-hearings-lists/Salisbury-Crown-Court.php
  12. He seem to ignore any questions he didn't want to answer. I asked a number about the Football League statement made when they were given back the Golden Share (24 Oct 2010) http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20101024/pompey-exit-administration_2293322_2193579 and especially the final paragraph. (a) "ENCOURAGE to operate in a sustainable manner" - surely the FL will do more than "ENCOURAGE" this time. (b) "RESTRICTIONS on player signings.. live within its means" - yet the Club signed Lawerence & Kitson on big wages, surely the FL is going to come down hard this time on any signing because the Cheats appeared to have ignored their requests last time. © "meeting the commitments made to the creditors" - words fail me on that one ....."COMMITMENT" !!!! But he refused to answer questions on "ENCOURAGEMENT", "COMMITMENT" or "living within its means" and what the FL actions will be.
  13. As well as Adam missing Jose also went off a h/t because of a tight hamstring. He probably got that because we has just played West Ham 4 days earlier and if I remember correctly they had some bully boys like Reid,Faye,Diop and Carew on the end of Fat-Sam's huff ball tactics. Some of our players were "black and blue" going into the Reading game. (they had a easlier home game against Derby 2-2 before they played us).
  14. Since we were in League 1 the Football League have introduced new rules relating to amount of money that can be spent on wages, we got out just in time. http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20110805/footballs-back_2293334_2410453

    Guly

This. Some Saints fans have a shocking understanding of Football, they still think the "old school" way of a fixed 4-4-2 every game where every player only plays in his OWN square of the pitch and these fans look for some INDIVIDUAL skill to win a game. They seem to want Steve over Guly as right midfield only because he puts his head down and dribbles while running flat out ONLY when the ball "accidentally" arrives in his square. However Football today is about playing different systems, e.g. "diamond" (which we NEVER play with Steve on the pitch, because he cannot play a role in that system), or "T" (3 advanced, 1 anchor in midfield) etc. Guly can play lots of different roles in lots of different systems which makes him a better squad player for the TEAM. Take a look at the league table there are 9 or 10 sides who have won 15-17 games this season (they all play fixed systems and win more than they lose etc). Ask yourself WHAT has put us on 23 wins this season ? What has taken us above those 9/10 sides. It has been our ability to change systems and Guly ability to change roles has been very important to the team. I just wish the thicko fans who know nothing about Football (tactics & systems) would lay off him, because they are in danger of wrecking the season with their stupid vendictive comments about Guly.
  16. Sky have seen some of HMRC doc re the Football Creditors case and the Cheats FC. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11688/7648507/Rule-could-destroy-Portsmouth
  17. In the case of Rotherham, Bournemouth and Luton who came out of Admin without a CVA the Football League said the newco must pay the amount offered in the CVA to unsecured creditors as well as giving them a large points penalty. Rotherham - http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20080806/fl-board-statement_2293334_1359838 Bournemouth - http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20080807/league-make-bournemouth-offer_2293334_1360692 Luton - http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20080710/league-board-considers-clubs-in-administration_2293334_1353487 I believe Leeds only offered a small amount (1p) in their original cva, but because of legal action by one of the creditors it got raised to 8p The Cheats FC came out of Admin on 24 Oct 2010 while under the control of the Football League http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20101024/pompey-exit-administration_2293322_2193579
  18. Has anyone heard any rumours about the Itchen Riverside project ? No3 in the following plan VIP projects. http://www.southampton.gov.uk/s-environment/future/ccplans/vipproj/ It runs from the Itchen bridge to St Marys. The only details are here http://www.southampton.gov.uk/s-environment/future/ccplans/vipproj/itchen-riverside.aspx Is this what all that stupid talk of a takeover of the club ( ? £25M for £33M of shares !?) was really about ?
  19. Rupert problems started when he put the Shareholders before the Football Club. Compare it with Apple, they have only just paying dividends again (since 1995). They BUILT up the company and re-invested their profits in the company. Here are some of Rupert's Share buybacks + dividends, when reading remember that Steve (Out of his depth) Wigley was appointed on the 23 Aug 2004. Rupert's Share Buybacks 28 Sept 2004 Share buyback - 450,000 at 44p http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=359&NewsType=CDP&Indate=28/09/2004 10 Oct 2002 Share buyback - 1,120,00 at 24p http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=1637&NewsType=CDP&Indate=14/10/2002 19 June 2002 Share buyback - 2,746,153 at 30p http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=2186&NewsType=CDP&Indate=19/06/2002 14 May 2002 Share Buyback - 400,000 at 30p http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=2794&NewsType=AFR&Indate=14/05/2002 Some of Rupert's Dividend payments 3 Sept 2004 - 3p per share http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=358&NewsType=CDP&Indate=03/09/2004 3 Sept 2003 - 3p per share http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=446&NewsType=CDP&Indate=03/09/2003 I have others including a Dividend Payment when we were relegated from the PL !!!!
  20. Wayne Veysey was the author of KP book. http://www.amazon.com/Kp-Wayne-Veysey/dp/1848187017 He also made predictions for the 2010-11 season "Liverpool were going to be taken over by the Chinese and that Torres would be the top scorer in the PL"
  21. Could it be that the End of Year Accounts for the period July 2010 to June 2011 for Company DMWSL 613 (Dickson Minto WS Lawyers) are due to be published at Company House at the end of this month. From what I can remember that year will include :- Death of Markus; Sacking of AP; Payoff for AP; Signing of Nigel; Long term contract for Nigel; Adam etc. The only major signing was Guly (Cork came in this year) I think. I expect the usual 20 or so Anti-Nicola lot will come out from under their stones with their usual negative comments and the Skate supporters will tell us that 2 + 2 = 50 million etc. IMO this interview with Nicola about the Plans for the Training (+ implied funding of the Club) will counter any "negative spin" that the Anti lot put on the Accounts.
  22. This Sportingintelligence doc says they do not know what happened to the £169k of unpaid Taxes in Saints case but I am sure it was repaid. http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/03/25/revealed-the-39-6m-in-unpaid-football-taxes-and-thats-only-part-of-it-250301/ The table at the bottom shows what each Club debt (21 of 53) was and how much was Tax. Part of the tax doc on the left is here http://www.sportingintelligence.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Tax-doc.jpg
  23. For me Steve has alot of INDIVIDUAL skill, but is LIMITED in the systems he can play for the team. Nigel has only ever used him as a wide player in tha "flat 4" midfield system and as one of the 2 forwards. I have never seen him play in a "Diamond" or a "T" type systems that Nigel likes to use (those systems give up more of the ball in central midfield). It was noticable today that when Rickie went off, Steve went up front and we immediately changed from the "flat 4" we had been playing for 50 mins into a "diamond" with Adam at the tip of the diamond and Chaps on the right of the diamond and we looked a better "team" (we started to pass the ball through midfield). All 3 players (Chaps, Guly & Steve) have their value to the team in different systems, i.e. Guly plays very well in a "diamond" and the "T" system (3 advance midfielders but playing narrow, with an anchor behind), but less well when he plays as a wide player in a "flat 4" system. IMO it has been Nigel reading of the game and the changing of systems during a game that has put us the 15-18 points clear of the "playoff pack".
  24. Try Section 17 http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20110629/section-4-clubs_2293633_2125725 Also Coventry are subject to Transfer Embargo because they have failed to submit Accounts (Section 16) http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20120302/transfer-embargo-for-sky-blues_2293322_2630650 There is one for Brum as well http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20120302/birmingham-under-transfer-embargo_2293322_2630756 The CHEATS have not shown "committed funding for next season" therefore they are subject to a Transfer Embargo. I am also waiting to hear back from the Football League on the subject of the Cheats and their Transfer Embargo.
  25. Their o/s says they will have a centre half available (Chimbonda) again. (I believe the last couple of games they were missing a tall centre half). They also say that Chung is fit They also imply that Billy can play against them (no agreement) http://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/page/MatchPreview/0,,10329~2688682,00.html
