If you look at the Fouls by Player it shows the Cheats have 3 players in the Top 6 (mullins, ben-h & varney) http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/DivisionalDiscipline/0,,10794~20117,00.html

There is a good writeup and what may happen here http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2011/10/03/murphys-law-why-the-sky-isnt-about-to-fall-in-on-the-premier-league-031004/

The extended highlights from the BBC & Sky are here http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15143189.stm http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,,16428_7219285,00.html The Sky highlights only have the end of the "great team passing chance" (if only chaps had left the ball, why didn't Morgan ? call for him to leave it). I think there is a great opportunity for Saints Player here, why don't they show the full passing movement in the buildup (20+ passes ??) as a FREE video, missing off the end with something like "what happened next ?". IMO this would :- a) Encourage more fans to sign up to Saints player. b) Send a message to the fans of other teams to say "this is what you can expect when you play Saints", be worried. c) Encourage more "armchair supporters" to come to games to get Saints gate up from 23-25k to 27-28k etc. d) Send a message to the media (BBC,Sky) that they are not showing enough highlights of Saints games.

It is not going to be as easy as some think. From reports they put alot of players behind the ball. Watford's away form (1w 3d 0l - goals 5f 3a) is better than their home form, and they will be a harder team to breakdown than leeds (0w-2d-2l), brum (0-1-3) and forest (2-0-3).

I was calculating some stats from last seasons League games the other day and I found something interesting re Alex. I think everyone knows that we averaged 2.00 points a game last season (28W 8D 10L) and that Nigel's record was 2.20 (excl MK) or 2.15 (incl MK). I have used the Sports Echo's stats page (p14) of the 14 May where they list the teams to calculate the following :- (p.s. there is an error on this page in that they said Adam played left midfield at Orient, but it was Ryan. so there may be other errors) When Alex didn't play..... :- 9W 0D 3L (2.25 points a game) When Alex came on as sub...:- 5W 1D 1L (2.29 points a game) When Alex started the game :- 14W 7D 6L (1.81 points a game) Our most important player as everyone knows was Adam :- When Adam didn't play......:- 3W 3D 4L (1.20 points a game) When Adam came on as sub...:- 3W 1D 2L (1.66 points a game) When Adam started the game :- 22W 4D 4L (2.33 points a game) I think most of our other important players averaged 2 points a game when they started, it was only Alex where the average was below 2 (1.81). Now you could argue that with his "head down and charge at the opposition" approach that either a) his teammates could not keep up with him, or b) he struggled to fit in with Nigel's "pass and move" football and/or "change of systems (i.e. diamonds etc)". I'm not saying he isn't a good player, but I was suprised how low his average was (1.81 points), "when he started a game".

The Ref is due to be Phil Gibbs from the West Midlands (Solihull). I believe he only started doing FL games in 2008 before that he was mainly in charge of Football Conf games and was assistant head teacher at Kings Heath Boys' School in Birmingham. Saints games 2010/11 v Colchester (a) Won 2-0 send off one of their players for raising his hands to Butterfield. v Orient (H) Drew 1-1 last league home game for AP; Rickie scored deflected freekick but in general we didn't play well. Note a number of the Stats D/Bs say he was in charge of the 1-0 Win a Yeovil (17/4/2010) when Morgan was sent off, however the O/S, Echo & BBC all say the Ref that day was Oliver Langford, so there was probably a change of Ref and the Stats D/B are wrong.

Sorry to bring some bad news but the referee (Anthony Taylor) comes from Manchester, isn't that a bit close to Burnley ? He has done 2 Saints games 2007/08 Lost v QPR (H) 2-3 (we scored in the first & last min and Safri was sent off for a kick at one of their players), 2008/09 Lost v wolves (a) 0-3 (shocking performance - 3 down after 19 mins) He has done 2 burnley games both WINS for them (2008/09 a v sheff utd 3-2 & 2007/08 H v v PLYMOUTH 1-0)

This is the only recorded information this time. (which is alot less than last time where day1 had things like "Jury Sworn In" and Day 3 had "Witness Number 3 Sworn - 10:25" etc)

Burnley Team on Saturday.............Team last night Jensen (Grant 17)............Grant Trippier.....................Trippier Edgar........................Edgar Easton.......................Easton Mee..........................Amougou McCann.......................Bartley Wallace.(Stanislas 61).......Wallace Marney.(Bartley 72)..........Marney.(McCann 60) Treacy.......................Treacy Rodriguez....................Rodriguez Austin.......................Hines (Austin 60)

I will continue to look at one league game at a time, Burnley have certain strengths (e.g. Austin) and a number of weaknesses (defence). However if you want to look forward then after those 7 games we have 10 fixtures in November & December as follows :- 6 Home games (where we can beat anyone) & 4 Away games against Coventry, Bristol C, Doncaster & Cheats A case could be made for us to win all 10 games of those games if we are in the same form, playing the same "pass & move" football.

I've been off to TalkDrivel's web site http://www.talksport.co.uk/ and guess what - not a mention of it. And their "Transfers Rumours" page http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/transfer-rumours has guess what - not a mention of it. They do says the barcodes target a Freilburg striker (Cisse) is "still for sale". I've even typed "lambert" into their search box and guess what - not a mention of it.

The Ref is due to be Dean Whitestone from Northampton. Last Season H v Bristol Rovers W 1-0 a v walsall L 0-1 2009/10 H v Wycombe W 1-0 2006/7 a v colchester L 0-2

My view on that was totally different. Jos had only eyes for the ball, whereas the forest player looked sideways for the Saints player and ran 4 or 5 yards and JUMPED straight into Jos and gave him a "shoulder to shoulder" barge. At NO time did the forest player LOOK AT THE BALL, imo he was attempting to stop Jos heading the ball clear so that his teammates might pick up the loose ball. The Ref got that 100% correct. I thought the Ref on saturday got most things right (remember the "dive" incident which the picture afterwards also proved he got right), whereas last season against the sea-weed he had a bit of a shocker.

The pictures on the OS show clear daylight (? 6 inches ?)between Kelvin and the derbyshire (pic No 15) (The Tv pictures from the other angle show that KD did not move his legs ). http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/Gallery/0,,10280~2447072,00.html I have never seen Kelvin react like that (No 22), imo he KNEW there was no contact. Also should the cheat have been send off (No 19 & 20) for raising his hand and slapping Kelvin around the face ?

The Radio Solent reaction hour is online http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00k088w/BBC_Radio_Solent_Sport_The_reaction_10_09_2011/ "Eddie the mouth" is from 20:18

Can I remind you that there have been 2 cases where clubs have been deducted 10 points by the FA (oversee rules for both PL & FL). Luton has already been mentioned by others, however there is also the case of St Albans who were deducted 10 points last season for financial irregularities 3 years earlier. http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplinary/NewsAndFeatures/2011/st-albans-040211 If you want to know what C2(b)(ii) etc are it says here http://www.twohundredpercent.net/?p=10910 So the FA still deducted 10 points for 3 breaches 3 years earlier, for payments to players that tried to bypass paying PAYE and National Insurance, i.e. the Southwark court cases.

The wording of the CVA's "Proposal" to creditors (28 May) can be found here http://www.uhy-uk.com/media/download/turnaround-and-recovery/PFC CVA 28th May Final2.pdf Section 2.02 (page 14) says :- Over to the legal bods, but it implies to me that it was Portpin that made the promise, as it says in a very "wooly way".

I see their own paper has finally noticed what a poorly supported club they are http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/great-matches/pompey_pay_the_price_as_fans_feel_the_pinch_1_3031234 Why didn't they mention the 2,731 ? Only "in love" when they were spending beyond their means ? So they admit they gave away tickets last year. The attendance for the Sky game in Oct against Barnsley (2 taxis & a minibus ?) should be interesting. So did the 7,600 mentioned earlier in the summer every manage to break 8k ? (for info Saints 15k)

The Ref on Saturday is due to be Iain Williamson from Berkshire. Not one of my favorites. He was the joke ref from the Sea-weed home game last season where he failed to see the trip on Adam, gave a penalty for a drive and generally allowed monkeyboy's team to get away with all sorts of south american 1970's tactics. 2010/11 v Sea-weed (H) Drew 0-0 2008/09 v Forest (H) Lost 0-2 2007/08 v Blackpool (H) Won 1-0 2006/07 v Brum (H) Won 4-3 & v Cardiff (H) Drew 2-2 2005/06 v southend (a) CC Won 0-3 ; Leeds (H) Lost 3-4; Watford (H) Lost 1-3

Here is the team sheet from the PL Academy Final the year before. Note there is one player current on Saints books in that final

The next 3 games are a big opportunity for us, we can put some real pressure on the other teams around us if we continue to play the "high tempo pass and move" football that we've shown so far this season.. We have 2 home games (and we have not dropped a point at home since Jan) followed by burnley away (howe always tries to play "mind games" with us but ends up losing). While the other teams around us have more tricky games imo and I can see them dropping points :- Seaweed - 2 tricky away games (bristol city & leicester) followed by the cloggers from Leeds at home (9 a side at the end ?) Derby - 2 away games (local derbys) against coventry & forest followed by Millwall with their two lines of four in a defensive 4-4-2. Boro - 2 away games (burnley & palace) followed by Ipswich at home. W/ham - Cheats at home, followed by millwall away (2 very defensive sides) then a certain 3 points against P/boro. Palace - Leeds away; Boro at home and Donny away.
