  1. Yes there is only the 1st 30 mins this week. The last 30 mins had a interview with the whinging cotterill, where I think he said something about "going into the referee's room at half time to show him a dvd of the penalty/sending off". Now I thought that was NOT ALLOWED for either Manager to go into the Referee's Room at halftime. (correct me if I am wrong ?) and I was going to sent it to the FA/FL for comment. However i cannot hear it again and the shorten interview with "the whinger" is slightly different in that it doesn't include the bit about going "into his room". ( In the interview he moaned about the TWO decisions (1 penalty, 2 sending off) at least 3 times but once he said he went "into his room").
  2. It is nice that we can switch systems from the "diamond" to a "flat 4" and vice versa without too much difficulty. Today I thought MK had done their homework on the "diamond" BUT couldn't adjust when we switched systems. There was a 15 min period where they were unsure who should be doing what, e.g. should the right winger be dropping back to cover Adam when we went on the left. They didn't adjust to our change of tactics. There have been other games (e.g.swindon) where they played a "tight 3" in central midfield (in a 4-5-1 system) and we started with a "flat 4" (Alex on the right; Adam on the left), but their 3 in midfield were playing nice triangles around our 2. In that match we switched to the "diamond" around the hour period and again scored 3 goals in a short period of time because they were unable to adjust. My big concern is Rickie when we play the diamond because his lack of movement is shown up, i.e. he should be making runs behind the fullbacks so that they do not advance and play in the space on the flanks, but he doesn't.
  3. The last thing I saw in the press was this from the 13 Jan http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/13/portsmouth-tottenham-hotspur-asmir-begovic There is nothing on the PL web site (or FA / UEFA ) about this yet, so I assume they are still gathering evidence.
  4. IMO he looked very worried going into Southwark Crown Court on tuesday. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/29032011/2/photo/29032011105602.html Although it was only for the "Plea" on Tuesday, I am very surprised there has been nothing in the press about the court appearance. Not even a one liner given the dates of the 2 trials.
  5. This is a good read on the issues relating to Lehman and the Football Creditors Rule. http://m.accountancyage.com/aa/analysis/2029942/lehmans-soothe-taxmans-football-woes So it is "Lehman Brothers Special Financing V Belmont Park Investments" that HMRC is waiting for a judgement from the Supreme Court.
  6. I think the weather forecast is wrong for today. I believe there is a very localised cold front spreading from Hayling Island to Skate town today. Imo it could see the Cheats drop to Minus 10 in a few weeks if Storrietellers trip for "Plea & Case Management" to Southwark Crown Court TODAY doesn't go well. 10:00 Court 7 before Judge Testar. http://www.courtserve.net/courtlists/current/crown/sthwk_T110329.01.htm No wonder the Cheats were trying to get the ST money in early
  7. IMO our game against them will probably be the one where they need to "not lose" in order to be champions (They will only have 3 games after ours and we will have 4 games = 12pts max). ? Does anyone know how many games a player has to play in order to get a Medal at the end of the season. A few years ago it was 10 (I think) and a side who had already won the league played a few fringe players for the last 2 or 3 games to try to get them up to the limit. I am therefore more concerned about their final home game against Huddersfield where they might play a weaken side.
  8. I believe there are 5 companies of interest. I remember hearing that the "fan's company" received some letters from the Tax man a few years ago that should have gone to the "City company" therefore they may well be trying to confuse the Tax man. CORRECT ME anyone if you think I am wrong The current lot are :- The cheats that went into Admin last year are :- There are 3 other companies
  9. Share Buybacks Sept 2004 - 450,000 at 44p http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=359&NewsType=CDP&Indate=28/09/2004 Oct 2002 - 1,120,000 at 24p http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=1637&NewsType=CDP&Indate=14/10/2002 June 2002 - 2,746,153 at 30p http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=2186&NewsType=CDP&Indate=19/06/2002 May 2002 - 400,000 at 35p http://www2.hemscott.com/scripts/AFXnewstory.dll/text?EPIC=SOO&SerialNumber=2794&NewsType=AFR&Indate=14/05/2002 The Sept 2004 one, although a small amount of money, followed only a couple of weeks after Steve "out of his depth" Wigley was appointed head coach/manager (23 Aug) . Imo it showed where his prioirties were (Q/ The Share Price drops from 50p to 44p between 8th and 28th Sept OR give the new Manager the money ? A/ Share Buyback )
  10. I agree Merrington was SHOCKING last night. Attempting to stir things up between JP and Nigel. For anyone who didn't hear it, I think he was the most mentioned "Saints player" on Solent last night and he wasn't even playing. From memory I think they said that they received one text BEFORE the game about JP and if you add on the fact that Solent twitter says he was at the game last night. http://twitter.com/solentsport ?? I wonder if somebody knew JP was there and was "pressing Merrington buttons", knowing he would go off on one of his rants. ?? And who is Echofon ?
  11. I believe PFC Realisations Ltd changed it's name to PORTSMOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB (2010) LIMITED (Company No. 07264768 ) awhile ago. http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/1519a622a52c6c3f4052240f839f87e9/compdetails Another reason they could want the money in early is their "big game" at Southwark Crown Court in the w/c 16 May (last date i've been given). Get the money before HMRC's star player "Folder 29" bags a winner and the 10 points are lost. ?
  12. I know i'm going to upset a few but I don't think his fitness will return to the levels that Nigel requires. IMO he should have retired/left last summer. He has started five games this season and as a team we have failed to score in any of them, and didn't look like scoring for long periods Plymouth 0-1 Swindon JPT 0-3 Rochdale 0-2 Swindon 0-1 and NA 1st game MK Dons 0-2.
  13. Add on the fact that WE made 2 of those goals. 1/ Radhi back header at walsall when the original ball may well have gone straight though to Kelvin. and 2/ Jose clearance against Butterfield at Dung Court that fell for their player when most other times (99 out of 100) it would have gone for a corner or something. And for those going on about previous Managers wasn't there somebody in the 91/92 season whose name must not be mention who's team only conceded something like 1 goal in 7 games.
  14. The stats from the BBC site show how only one side were trying to win the game (the other came to spoil and stop us playing but failed). Possession Southampton 56% Sheff Wed 44% Attempts on target Southampton 12 Sheff Wed 2 Attempts off target Southampton 6 Sheff Wed 7 Corners Southampton 7 Sheff Wed 1
  15. Sorry to worry everyone but the ref is a Darren Deadman a Civil Servant from PETERBOROUGH !?! 3 Saints games last season :- Gas (H) 2-3; Colchester (a) 1-2 and Wycombe (a) 0-0.
  16. The Zimbabwe fixture is a "Continental Qualifier" against Mali (26/3). http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=zim/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.html The 2 NZ fixtures are FRIENDLIES against China PR (25/3) and Japan (29/3) (may be called off). http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=nzl/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.html (I assumes Brighton will also be without Wood for their 2 games in this period ??). The Rep of Ireland web site makes no mention of an U21 game http://www.fai.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=23&Itemid=41 the senior side are due to play Macedonia http://www.fai.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=57&Itemid=32 so he may have been called up to this one. But FRIENDLIES should not count imo.
  17. I believe there is only 2 dates that can be fitted in: 1/ The Tuesday before Brighton (19 April) or 2/ The Monday/Tuesday before Walsall (2/3 May) I hope it is (2) but I think the league will go for (1) (in case there is some bad weather in late April and they need to use (2) for something else). If it is (1) Saints will have to play 3 games in 6 days, therefore I HOPE THE CLUB CONSIDER moving Hartlepool back from BH Monday to a Tuesday night to give the players an extra days rest. (By suggesting that I bet that makes me unpopular with some on here).
  18. In case anyone missed the final hour of Radio Solent (5 to 6), you can hear it again. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00f8pzq/BBC_Radio_Solent_Sport_The_reaction_12_03_2011/ Nigel's post match is 25:04 to 29:22. Adam's is 45:20 to 49:02. I find Dave M's comments about Saints so NEGATIVE, he always seems to focus on one negative issue in the match rather than give a balanced view. We got better post match comments from the bompey bloke (williams) about Saints. The texts from some bompey fans are so funny because they are so bitter.
  19. I see that completely differently, the 1st half we played a flat 4-4-2 trying to get the wingers down the flanks. For various reason (mainly the players not putting in the work rate) it was not working. Within a few mins of the start of the 2nd half Nigel had changed to the "diamond system" in midfield with Adam given a free role. For 15-20 mins or so we were producing some wonderful football. For me it is nice to have a Manager who knows when thinks are not working and changes things tactically. Last year when the flat 4-4-2 wasn't working all that happened was a change of personnel in certain positions.
  20. For some reason the BBC site seems to miss our game at Plymouth on the 26th March at 12:30.
  21. Reading a Yeovil fans site it seems the Ref is card happy and they have lost all 3 games he has done for them. http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/news/news.asp?NewsItemId=14510 I was also reading their views on Southampton http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/opposition/southampton.asp So that is where Jim Joyce went. I couldn't help laugh at other fans view of our troubles (prehaps some fans need at reminder) They need to update some of their pub information at the end because it is out of date.
  22. On the previous Colchester thread I posted this fact :- The Pink looked at the top 10 sides and how many results had changed in the last 10 mins of a game. Saints only had 2 games - 4-4 against PBoro and the 2-1 win at Exeter. However Colchester have won lots of games by scoring in the last 10 mins i.e. they have won 8 games by scoring in the last 10 mins of games, the best of the top 10 sides. Saints MUST focus for 95 mins.
  23. I sit fairly close to the pitch and I have always thought we are a "very quiet team", for example there are times when the ball has been bouncing between Kelvin, Jose and Radhi and the supporters behind the Chapel goal have to shout, "KEEPERS" before the 3 defenders stops looking at each other and Kelvin comes off his line. The one exception to that is when Frazer plays, although not the best at crossing the ball he is about the only player I have heard "talking on the pitch", telling the other players what to do, "man on", "clear long" etc. From memory I think he was captain at Leeds and Charlton.
  24. IF we finish above them I won't see it as "mugging" them. From memory when they won at Walsall a few weeks ago I think Walsall hit the woodwork 3 times, against us I don't think they had 3 serious attempts at goal. The Rotten Fruit are on a good run at the moment, since 28 Dec it is 8-4-1 but if you look at those games 6 of the 8 wins were against teams in the bottom 5 (Home and Away wins against Plymouth, Swindon etc). IMO they have an unbalanced fixture list. If you look at the other games (against non bottom 5 teams) their results are are 2-4-1 (10 points from 21 games) which if they continue to the end of the season we should be able to beat. Remember we have just had some tricky away fixtures, e.g. Exeter away, PBoro away, Hartlepool away. The Rotten Fruit still have to go to all those grounds, i.e. when they go to Exeter we play Yeovil at home, when they go to PBoro we play MKDons at home. IMO there is a long way to go, with lots of ups and downs.
  25. I agree. There seems to be a "myth" being spread that just because very little money was spent in Jan that the plan has changed. I suggest that certain people reread the Echo from the 8th July 2009. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4479991.Markus_Liebherr_is_the__ideal_owner__for_Saints/ Back on the subject of THIS THREAD, the Pink looked at the top 10 sides and how many results had changed in the last 10 mins of a game. Saints only had 2 games - 4-4 against PBoro and the 2-1 win at Exeter. However Colchester had i.e. they have won 8 games by scoring in the last 10 mins of games, the best of the top 10 sides.
