  1. that’s a relief On the rare occasions he has played in the last 12 months he’s looked ordinary, slow and a poor touch. Obviously he hasn’t played any football for some time so maybe that’s to be expected but TP showed in twenty minutes he’s a far better prospect than Stewart. Has he had a shot yet ?
  2. If he’s sacked it won’t be because he got us promoted There’s a feeling we were promoted despite Martin and not because of him Thought he did well in the play offs so i’m happy to give him the benefit of the doubt on that but this season has to date been a shit show and if we don’t beat one or both of leicester and everton it could be very grim indeed
  3. Did you watch us last season at Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hull and Leicester ? There were times when we were tactically naive and overrun. There were also times last season when we were good but against teams who pressed high and attacked at pace we struggled and that’s what we are facing this season and have looked totally out of our depth so far. I don’t think most of us are surprised that playing the way we are with the players we have is producing these results. The reason we did ok last season was we had a bigger wage bill and better players and now this season we don’t and at the moment RM’s approach is not delivering and I cannot see it will. He’s showing himself to be a limited coach who can’t set up a team to defend and if you have an attack as poor as ours then it’s not a good mix
  4. He’s not done anything this season to show me he can keep us up, allowing for the fact it was a tall order anyway. As a coach he’s always had a poor goals against record and now he’s got a below average attack he’s not going to win enough games. The warning signs were there last season - Hull away for example where we were blown away by a high pressing side that attacked with pace and it was key stone cops at the back. Fair enough it’s Arsenal but on Saturday Flynn was overwhelmed in the middle of the park trying to get things moving forward. There was a glimmer when TP came on and see you could see there was a finally a focal point for players to make runs off. God knows if he will play him from the start against Leicester. I find it bizarre that instead of TP he played Stewart from the outset who has looked very ordinary - has he had a shot on target yet for Saints ? Equally there’s no point sacking him unless there is a decent replacement and the record to date has been poor.
  5. I believe we haven’t won a match in the PL now for 20 games or so with that record it’s not a surprise it feels a bit depressing at the moment
  6. When you see him in the flesh you can see what an imposing figure he is and I surprised how nimble he was. Given the obvious lack of a focal point in attack so far this season, seems odd that it took until the 60th minute or our 7th game to give him a go.
  7. Think when he has played he’s looked very ordinary so I don’t see it’s an issue for the team. TP looked a significant improvement yesterday and seems negligent to not have played him so far
  8. RM sees the players in training and so how on earth does he conclude that Stewart is a better bet to play the lone striker role than TP. been said countless times before but the passing out from the back is suicidal and will continue to gift teams goals. I do think we have a real issue as well with the midfield not taking responsibility for taking the ball of the defenders and moving it forward.
  9. Watched this from the arsenal west side and he was good - not great but a proper target man who could hold up the ball and was surprisingly skillfull. far better than stewart and god know why he started above Tp. has to start next game
  10. Got tickets for this and feel we have been so shit to date that this might be the game where we actually put in a decent performance and maybe nick a point , but probably wishful thinking and just trying to justify the money i’ve spent on the tickets. Defence picks itself but god knows who plays up front this week and in what formation as the choices are pretty shit and I think RM knows it. At the moment it looks like we had a better forward line last year with Che there. Are any of the current choices better than him ? Can’t see they are.
  11. I knew it would be tough but I have been surprised how poor we have been and how we look totally out of our depth. We have only been competitive over 90 mins against ten man Newcastle. I dont think it will even be close as even if we change the manager for a decent coach we havent the quality up front to score enough goals to stay up. Maybe a new manager could try and go long to TP and RS and play two wingers but that’s desperate stuff really. Fees like we need to try and keep things respectable and wait for next season which is saying something on 1 October….
  12. At the moment we average a goal every other game so would rather save our goal for the Leicester match as might be of more use
  13. We look out of our depth sadly. Similar to the Huddersfield, Norwich teams that came up and never looked like staying up. Ok Ipswich and Leicester haven’t won a game either but we look the least likely of the three to make a proper fist of it and I can’t see how we win a game at the moment. I don’t think RM is a great coach and his style of football is being shown to be naive and totally unsuited to grinding out wins when you have inferior players.someone said last year he was a flat track bully and it looks like that wasn’t far off. Was listening to a podcast with Graeme Souness and he was talking about the need for experienced senior pros in any side and for there to be succession planning for the baton to be handed on - who are our ‘senior pros’ ? Jack Stephens and Bednarek who were not able to cut it last time in the PL.Who else ? We are so short of proven PL experience in so many areas. The recruitment at the club over the last two years has been shocking and you can’t blame RM entirely for that. The kids we signed from City have been a disaster with the exception of Lavia and I can’t believe we signed BBD and Archer when we were crying out for a top quality CF. You add to that the likes of Sulemana, TP and Orsic and it just looks like the management at the club can’t pick a player. We are constantly shopping in the ‘potential’ isle and for a club our size you can’t afford to get recruitment so badly wrong and expect to thrive. We are crying out for some established PL quality players and we have signed one In Ramsdale. Our only other experienced PL quality player is KwP who is now on the bench. We look so lightweight. We need to 4 points from Leicester and Everton but I can’t see it and we could easily be on 1 point after 10 games.
  14. to be fair none of the promoted teams have to date won a game but we look the worst of the three after the weekend games
  15. I wouldn’t get rid. I’d bring in an experienced coach to work alongside him and who has avoided the drop in the past. Thinking of Dave Basset, Jim Smith someone like that from the 90’s who can shout a lot
  16. if you wanted to throw him a bone I agree that’s right no PL manager can be happy when he’s given BBD and Archer as his forward signings and maybe his decision to put all five on the bench tonight was his way of saying that to the club
  17. We are totally out of our depth and don’t look like a Premier League team. Save for Newcastle against 10 men we haven’t all season. We are a pretty toxic mix of a bang average squad and a poorly coached team. There were some horror shows last season but we got away with it because we had better players. There’s absolutely no pragmatism now in recognising our weaknesses and adopting a strategy that plays to the strengths. At the moment I have no idea what we are trying to do apart from not lose the ball and we seem unable to create decent goal scoring opportunities. We just fanny about with it - it’s hopeless football and teams must love playing us. We are also fucked by an abysmal recruitment strategy that today saw us play without a recognised CF but with 5 (five) on the bench. How much have we wasted on bang average football players instead of signing a few top drawer ones. We have played six games and our defenders have contributed 2/3 of our goals ! I guess at some point we will win a game but the moment we are a team that concedes and cannot score so it looks like this could be an absolute horror show of a season and I feel it’s already over. Think we have to replace RM. I don’t think it will make a difference to relegation but whatever he’s trying to do isn’t working and it seems wrong to keep him there.
  18. If we can score ( and it’s a big if) we go above cardiff in least goals scored in the football league.
  19. Can’t see we would have scored Ipswich’s second as soon as the ball went out to the left it would’ve been recycled
  20. There was a stat during the wolves game saying we have conceded 5 goals from set pieces in 5 games and the league average is 1.5 ! Seems a damning indictment of how we set up to defend set pieces, the ipswich goal being a prime example
  21. Hopefully the boys preparations won’t be disrupted by Cardiff scoring, meaning we are now joint bottom in the four leagues for goals scored. However looks like tranmere or salford could get dragged into it so all to play for
  22. I think the team looks ok ( not great but ok) with the exception of the forward quartet that aren’t going to score enough goals
  23. You omitted to mention that around 60 mins we will make 4 subs that will on the whole make us worse
  24. …we can and will do better… just not this season by the looks of it I always thought Adams was a decent support striker and a good link man for us.. He was our best striker post Ings but wasn’t good enough to keep us in the PL but neither are the current crop of forwards who look a poor bunch by PL standards pleased he’s doing well
  25. it’s the lack of quality up front that will condemn us ultimately and we just haven’t addressed that since Ings left. the defence isn’t that bad but in games against premiership opposition this season we average a goal every two games and that’s comfortable relegation form. indeed if you include the two games against the spanish and italian sides pre season it’s 4goals in eight games so we don’t score enough goals and unless that changes quick it’s game over
