  1. RM on the Venables tribute before kick-off: "He was a legend of the game and well ahead of his time when you see what everyone has said about him. To go and manage Barcelona back then as an Englishman is amazing. He gave me some of my best memories of watching football with his England team". I guess he was more English than Scottish when we dumped them out of Euro 96, he's just gone up in my estimation.
  2. Back in the 70s Everton used to belt out… ”We all agree, Duncan MacKenzie is magic” it got most of their crowd involved - Kyle Walker Peters would slot in there OK - bit of a struggle trying to fit that mouthful into a chant!
  3. That was definitely an early 80s thing for a very small bunch of our dinlos at the back of the Milton. What the fuck it had to do with Southampton and giving support to a football team only they would know.
  4. Thank fuck for that, another weird one from the thickos. Anyone uttering anything about strawberries, ferries or skates should immediately be lined up against the wall and shot.
  5. This is not really a new thing, as long as I've been going there has been an...eclectic...mix amongst our fanbase. I started going regularly over 50 years ago and our support has always been a bit hit and miss. The Dell was great on its day but it certainly suffered as being one of the only grounds in the country not to have a bank of covered terracing behind the goal for home fans like most others around the country that became the focal point for the more vociferous fan (until it went all seater). And the fact we almost totally ignored the lower league skates up until really the 80s, was one of the biggest reason their "scummer hate" really festered from the late 60s through the 70s. We lived in their fucking heads by ignoring the dinlos. The first time I remember our lot giving them attention in a chant was the " We are Southampton, the pride of the south..." it started well then rapidly went downhill with 'lyrics' that made no sense whatsoever. Typical of some of our support from that point, stupid songs that made no sense and they still do it these days with a strange need for shoe-horning words with too many syllables into chants. It just seems a lot of ours just ain't very bright, we've got more than our own fair share of dinlos.
  6. We sold out the full allocation of just over 2,300 over a week ago so plenty of time to get more if available so can only think Huddersfield just don't want an entire end full of away fans. Can't blame them.
  7. We're talking Teflon 'arry, nothing to see here....................
  8. Now received the full allocation of 2925 tickets https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/match/coventry-city-vs-southampton-english-football-league--championship-2023-12-13
  9. There's someone looking for tickets for Watford on the Saints Away forum https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/topic/60509-watford-spare-wanted/ Someone else also has a couple of Huddersfield tickets up for grabs https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/topic/60507-huddersfield-tickets-for-sale/
  10. Looks like it - doesn't appear to be on sale to home fans https://www.eticketing.co.uk/huddersfieldtown/EDP/Event/Index/3103
  11. Just had a nose on their forum and they are not in good place right now. All doom and gloom and expecting a rinsing on Saturday - apparently they only had 3 touches in Hull’s penalty area in 98 mins last time out. This sold out for Saints over a week ago so looks like we won’t be getting any more tickets, would have heard something by now. Bit strange, the rest of that end will be empty, guess they don’t need the revenue.
  12. You're probably right in it being an initial allocation. It is midweek but considering we took over 1,600 up to Preston (also live on Sky) which is a further 100 miles+ north of Cov, then I'd think we'll shift them fairly easily and be looking for more.
  13. Yeah, thought it was just the 3 blocks initially - this is now all sold out and with over 2 weeks until the fixture there may be a chance they may offer more tickets as they're not selling the remaining seats to home fans. I guess they won't want to be giving the opposition too much help if they're not in desperate financial needs.
  14. I would have said that was pretty reasonable entertainment on Saturday but clearly not enough to keep this Baggie awake
  15. With some of our less intelligent fans penchant for squeezing words with too many syllables into chants expect to hear “Yer just a small town in Southampton….” ringing out from certain corners
  16. Well, we won 3-1 the last time we went there and the couple of thousand Saints fans enjoyed an early Xmas present
  17. I'm certainly not sticking up for the counter-demo extremists but it was far easier to Police and make arrests in a relatively small concentrated group (that was more likely mostly intent on causing trouble). There's clearly extremists on the 'Peace March' too but in a crowd of 300,000 it would be easy to just quickly disappear amongst the genuine protesters if needed.
  18. I'm writing a stiff letter the the BBC, the Scottish sports reporter on there has just clearly said Pak-i-stan lost to England at the cricket. 'Disgusted' of Safampton.
  19. This one is up there with my best-evers, looked great inside the ground, even better on the box later
  20. Someone’s trying hard to get his name mentioned on a rivals message board
  21. Ted Bates was in charge when I started going and Lawrie Mac didn’t get off to a great start when he took over and relegation and the long barracking walk to the dugout soon followed. In the next 2-3 years he’d overseen our one major trophy success, got us to the the quarter finals of a European cup as a second division side and promotion soon followed. Unfortunately our board’s ambition never matched his which lead to him eventually naffing off for a few years (hurt at the time but understandable with hindsight) - but gets legend status for many of us. Cheers Lawrie!
  22. They did give Sunderland additional seats last season and they're not selling tickets to home fans in that stand so we may see an increased allocation yet. Edit: If I’m reading that correctly then it looks like the original 2,300 have just about gone and a new block of around 300 have been put up for sale https://tickets.southamptonfc.com/selection/event/seat?perfId=10228596938717&choiceSelectionDone=true&productId=10228556762132
  23. Probably an underground tunnel in case the natives didn’t take to him quite as well as our lot did 🥴
  24. You would have thought so but only if they sack the newly appointed Joe Edwards...in record time. Some suggestions Jones interviewed well and was leading the chase but then demanded an escape clause which put the mockers on it.
