  1. As one of the best teams in the country back then, I can only imagine what would have happened had english teams not been bared from Europe thanks to Heysel. English football and the heirachy of things would be oh so different.
  2. SaintsWeb User: I'm on POL! SWU2: No! I'm on POL!!! SWU3: I'm on POL!..... And so's my wife!!!!
  3. How do you hate? So easily.....
  4. The microtransactions indicate that this will have to be tethered to 'Steam' again then. God I hate that program.
  5. Weird one, the Skate derbies never really bothered me as the nature of a derby is that it throws up freak results. Plymouth at home in 2010 was bad but after the ride we had been through I wasn't surprised by it. Felt flat on Sunday but could take heart from the performance, relegation against Man Utd back in 2005 hurt like hell but the worst for me were three earlier results in the season. Home v Middlesbrough Home v Everton and Home v Aston Villa. Three games in which we played superbly only to suffer from terrible brain fade which saw 2 points collected rather then 9. The Villa game in particuar was the game which hurt the most, I knew we were down after that in my heart but the Everton fixture hurt more, we were utterly robbed.
  6. No, it's not a Southampton kit. The shirt is fine but red shorts and socks? No, it's not growing on me. Looking forward to being back in something more traditional next season.
  7. There is a lot of sensitivity over this though, people losing perspective. Both men have done so much for us, albeit in very different ways and from highly differing perspectives.... To be taking sides in an argument is just daft.
  8. And I would counter: Neither is Matthew Le tissier He is an incredible, wonderful part of the clubs fabric and history. He gave us such phenominal memories but it existed before and now continues to exist after his active contribution. Neither men are Southampton Football Club, Cortese in his own words alongside the Leibherr family are simply 'custodians,' Le Tissier was a player. WE THE FANS are Southampton football club. Being split by their fued when they have both done such good for the club is insane.
  9. Playing Devil's advocate. Is Matt le Tissier therefore irreproachable?
  10. Seems very much to be the 'Pompey Online' of Saints message boards! A place the extremists are sent to fester.
  11. When the Cortese/Le Tissier dispute first came to light a while ago I decided to have a word with a few mates back home about it. Season ticket holders and fans but not users of sites like this and with other things to worry about on Saturday afternoon then watch Jeff Stelling when not at the match. They were totally unaware of what had happened and frankly didn't care. The issue is obviously there but is being heightened only in forums such as this and in the more fanatical elements of the fanbase. To 90%+ of Saints fans, this is a non-issue. And from a personal perspective, statements along the lines of Cortese is a 'Devil' need quantifying! Second hand rumour doesn't cut it when judging a situation where both sides are in dispute but on the whole silent regarding the specifics.
  12. This.
  13. Just have to add. That orgasm when Torres scored against Barcelona in injury time .... comedy highlight of last season.
  14. There have been hints at something a bit more revolutionary happening, something about being less conservative with the design this time. Probably why it's crucial that Miles Jacobson (SI MD) is involved with the unveiling and have been given time to resolve his personal circumstances.
  15. I had my reservations regarding the Shop steward, but his utterly professional manner has shone through in his punditry. An intelligent and articulate man who offers genuine tactical insight and provides an entertaining unbiased perspective. Glad he's involved with the England set up.
  16. Without Nicola Cortese there would have been no Markus Leibherr in the first place, he recommended the club to him! It's amazing how many people overlook this. Is Cortese perfect? No, no-one is, but without him we may well have ceased to exist. As for the terrible story about what he did to le Tissier, if it truly is as bad as is said it must surely be told!
  17. Potential in the young one there is....
  18. Barney to take the first penalty. Boo's ringing round. HAHAHAAA. He missed! Typical!!

It's Barnard at Bournemouth, not Chappy.
  21. Haha. Time to use Skate logic. The Scummer has just drawn the Derby level.
  22. Our past v our present and future. They all need to grow up.
  23. How many bestest ™ there tonight?
  24. Indeed. He has form for this... the accident off the start at Monaco springs to mind. He needs a race to cool off, surprised Maldonado hasn't been on the end of similar sanctions too.
  25. His physique.... a lot of load on a human heart...
