  1. The boys are going to have to cope without my listening support tonight, but I may be able to get a quick glimpse every now and then on the latest score ... hoping for a convincing win just to keep us up with the pack. It is to scary to think where we'd be if we'd say got 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss (which would have seemed optimistic) instead of those wins  Hope the fiver entry fee encourages a fair sized crowd and atmosphere to boot, and they players give a performance to encourage people to come back for more. (not in support of the board etc, but for the very existance of the club) COYRs
  2. Considering they have hardly ever been out of the top 3 all season, they really are getting poor crowds despite the results. Even their local derby matches with Coventry and Wolves only managed just over 17000 and 22000 respectively  Dread to think what sort of crowds they'd be getting if they had our home form and until recently, home performances, to face up to each week Maybe there's about 5000 Zulus on banning orders
  3. Couldn't find a rate your weekend fred, so I guess this one will have to do. Fri ... Desert Rock Festival : Chimaira, Opeth, Arch Enemy and Motorhead. The 1st 3 bands listed were a bit too Thrash metal/shouty for me to be honest, the girl from Arch Enemy was pretty scary in a cool way . Motorhead rocked, plenty of beer consumed, people watching in the earlier part of the evening added to the entertainment (was I really that much of a **** when I was a student  - probably still am ) Evening ended on a low note of having to wait i and a half hours for a friggin taxi, bed at 0400  Sat ... worked afternoon shift. Could only snatch occassional glimpses at teh internet for latest score . Can't go to Rugby 7's World Cup  Sun .. worked afternoons again, watched some crap horror movie when I got back home .. should have gone straight to bed!! Can't go to Rugby 7's World Cup Mon .. bit of a lie in, bit of gardening, bit of shopping, bit of cooking. Not all at the same time. Pretty **** poor effort all round, only Motorhead and teh (expensive beers ) worth getting out of bed for. Next week kicks off with a fancy dress party on Thurs (that's when our weekend really starts) and will be able to listen to the Saints match on the Internet and drink copious amounts of beer ... so hopefully next week will be cool.
  4. Nice to hear all these nice things about our football from a team we've just beaten rather than the usual paudits from a team who've just stuffed us, but still thought we were the best team they've played this season
  5. Anybody who scores for us against Skatesmuff can be excused such indiscretions .
  6. I had 2-0 on the prediction league, but am only too happy to concede max points for the glory of the club Looking at the league table it is frightening to see where we'd have been if we hadn't won 3 on the trot ... WTF have we got to do to get out of the bottom 3 :smt048 Getting merrily sloshed now on some nice Chilean Sauvignon Blanc to complement the 4 pints of London Pride during the game Playing 2 up front .... what a revelation :smt115
  7. Also could you please state what your mum's maiden name was, where you were born and your pet's name. Alternatively just print your credit card/bank account number here
  8. Now I see where the team name The Luzzie Luvvies comes from. You might want to get a female coach ... the promise of being pulled off at half time sure as hell beats a cup of tea or an orange
  9. I am glad to read earlier that this case is being treated as an incident near the football ground rather than football related. As with the JT Man U thing the incident happened whilst the match was actually in progress, so presumably all Saints Fans would be at the match, and the incidents involved chavs from Southampton, rather than Southampton FC chavs. It sounds as if the main difference in this incident was that the guy was not repeatedly attacked whilst on the ground, but it was the actual fall that caused the blow which has unfortunately led to the guy being in a coma. I hate to sound callous but if he hadn't been (alledgedly but verified by his fellow CC fan) totally inebriated he may not have been put on his arse by the initial thump/kick or whatever. Sadly flare ups like this happen all the time in every town/city each weekend, but fortunately rarely end up with such tragic consequences. Hope the guy pulls through and the culprits caught and dealt with, as even if provoked they have also attacked a seemingly innocent bystander as well.
  10. LOLage at Mark Dennis getting a bit carried away at the 2 saves by Davis (comparing the 2nd to Gordon Bank's from Pele against Mexico:confused: ha ha) and then the flowing move from which Mule nearly scored. Thank god the commentary is back. Cardiff still creating a lot of chances, difficult to see us keeping a clean sheet sdo we defo need more goals
  11. Okay you guys with access to the commentary, the rest of us dotted around the world are reliant on you for all the latest news on the game ... and posts like "Yes" or "Oh No" don't help one iota, we need info please!! Cheers from a totally p*ssed off EoA. COYRs
  12. Lowe Out!!! I've sent them 2 emails but so far no reply or joy on the connection  hope this isn't a prelude as to how the rest of the afternoon is going to pan out Cuckin Funts.
  13. And how could I forget the old classic Knees Up Muvver Brown .. a true classic.
  14. About a milli second after the opposition had scored .... 'You're gonna get your f**kin heads kicked in' As mentioned earlier, pop songs/theme tunes etc quickly got changed into footy songs more in days gone by...... Hello Hello ...Southampton Aggro, Southampton Aggro ... Peado Boy Channon, Channon etc or Lawrie, Lawrie to the tune of Amazing Grace. We all live in the back of Milton Road, the back of Milton road ... Yellow Submarine Viva Bobby Stokes, Viva Bobby Stokes .... (The Equals?) One Stevie Williams there's only one Stevie Williams ... Tell yer ma, yer ma, You won't be home for tea, The Saints are at Wembley Que sera sera. Daisy Daisy give your answer do I'm half crazy oh for the love of you It won't be a stylish Marriage I can't afford a carriage But you'll look sweet upon the seat Of a bicycle made for 2,4,6,8 who do we appreciate S,O,U,T,H,A,M,P,T,O,N Show them the way to go home They're tired and they want to go to bed (for a w*nk) Coz there's only half a football team compared to the boys in Red and white stripes, black shorts, red socks with a white hoop round the top.Hey! I can't read, and I can't write But that don't really matter Coz I comes down from Sarfhampton And I kin drive a tractor Now I kin plough and milk a cow and drive a great big mower But the thing that I likes best is being a strawberry grower ooooooo aaaahhh. Loads more but the brain is getting tired. Cheers
  15. LOL ... looks like your ring piece is in for a serious hammering as well, down at the Navy dockyards whilst you try and earn some beer money for the weekend
  16. Some of the football under Chris Nicholl was breath taking, but considering he was a top notch defender some of our defending was shocking, you never reallly new what was going to happen on any given day  He was a young relatively inexperienced manager, who put everything he had into the club. Remember back in those days there weren't a million and one coaches, trainers, scouts, directors of football and cone movers, the manager did all of that and make tea at half time probably If he'd had a wily old hand to help him through I'm sure he would have gone onto bigger and better things with us. The young players he had at his disposal makes me drawl now thinking of theat 4-1 thrashing of one of the all time great Liverpool sides at The Dell. None of that 1 up front for a home game, lets make it 4 He cared for the club that is for sure. On one of The Club's videos from way back when he talks of the club as 'us' and vows to play attractive football as that is the only sort 'our fans' will accept. That is what they have been brought up on and will accept nothing less. Always had a great respect for the man as a player, manager and as a person. I admired Souness as well and thank him for dragging the club into Premiership Reality by buying classy foreign players to supplement the home grown and lower league buys. His astute signings of Claus, Egil, Berkovic and man mountain Van Gobbel on a relatively small budget showed great promise and it was a shame when it all ended up in tears when no further funds were on the horizon. To be honest the only one I wouldn't welcome back with open arms is Redkrap. Never threw himself into it and once he realised it he should have slithered back under the stone from whence he came rather than dragging our club down. At least Branfoot somehow kept us up in The Prem, despite evrything, but I think much of that was the Spirit of Southampton within the fans and players alike that kept us going
  17. I average about 100 yards per game ... the walk from my computer to my fridge with the beer in, 10 yds there and 10 yards back x 5. Also factor in a visit or 2 for a wee and another visit into the kitchen for some crisps or nuts ... no wonder I'm so fit This week was the 1st time in yonks that a bit of aerobics in jumping up and down to celebrate a goal needed to be added to the exercise If I actually had to attend a match it would be about 7000 miles round trip ... anybody lend me the use of a Lear Jet for the weekend
  18. No :smt048 Here's why .... Hairy Todgered Hippos.
  19. You are completely missing the point here. We are about to (if we haven't already) lose a whole generation of future die hard fans, which may not kick in for a while yet, but imagine where we will stand in another 10 years or so (if we are still in existance ) and things are as bad as they are now. I was lucky enough to see the 76 Final, the likes of Keegan, Ossie, Bally, Channon, Davies and the mercurial MLT wear the Saints shirt and also seen 2 relegations but this is the first time I have ever really (although the Branfart era tried my patience, but ooohhh how good was the make up sex when Bally/Lawrie and MLT came to the rescue ) not felt totally elated after a 3-1 win. One look at the league table sorted that out. Now, as the legendary Bill Shankly once said (or probably often said ) You can change your wife, you can change your politics and you can change your religion, but you can never change your football team (or something along those lines!) BUT we as a club are in the situation where we are alienating our future fan base before it has even started. Plus despite what you say, there are plenty of "mature" fans there (WTF has a salary got to do with it ) who won't be taking their kids to matches in a hurry. The worrying thing about the ratio of oldies amongst the protest is that most have probably gone beyond the stage of anger and into total apathy and have found alternative things to do on a Saturday afternoon. PAH in my semi inebriated state I missed on first reading that you weren't against the protest, so apologies at any injustice thrown your way, but bollix if having typed (and corrected numerous typos) this far, I'm not giong to post this now and it's my last one so I can't say sorry later  Why is every body going on about one swallow doesn't make a summer/ It does make for a t least a half decent BJ though Just as well this is my last post, as I'd probably be banned by the end of the evevning Anyway back to the beer and pulling my hair out at not being able to reply to some of the utter tosh that will be posted tonight Come on you Saints. Eric X
  20. Come on Burnley, come on Blackpool. We are beating your Lancashire rivals now do us a favour Thanks Beatts for putting a grin on my face. Come on Saints we need more goals to chip away at our GD. Shytehawks how can this be so nerve racking we are 3-1 up and I've gnawed my finger nails up to my knuckles  Come on you Red and White Machine ... you can beat this shyte.
  21. We want at least 5 as revenge for last seasons tonking at Preston when ironically they were as poor at home as we are this season. I think they had scored 1 goal in 5 games and had one point from 15 or something stupid till we rolled over and shipped in 5. COYS lets really kick on and whittle down that GD which at the moment is as good as -1 point against the teams above us. We could have had 4 with the crossbar and a classy save keeping us at bay. Makes a nice change from most games where we don't even have a shot on target ..... YAY YAY YAY Saga skins the defence and scores our 3rd ... how far off the play offs are we ... hmmm the Fullers London Pride is so sweet at the moment :smt048
  22. Good point and well presented I remember now that as I was flying from Dubai to Geneva that day and KLM completely screwed us up and we did't get to our hotel in Val Thorens till midnight. Spent all day skiing the next day, so it wasn't until about 6 o clock on Sunday night that I had a chance to check the score on the Internet in a pub and when I saw the headline something along the lines of Wolves hit for 6 on the OS I just presumed it was an April Fools Day wind up :smt048 :smt082 I wonder what this years April Fools Day headline will be ... Saints win at home, Rupert resigns .... no it would have to be something a bit more beleivable than that
  23. LOL no sooner do I say that and we are on TV again Admittedly it isn't until April and it could all be academic by then anyway. Got your email Steve, will reply over the weekend. Cheers E
  24. Another April Days 6-0 score line on the cards but I don't think we'll be celebrating this time  I expect Ladbrokes would give shorter odds on Elvis doing a Live Concert on The Moon wearing a I'm A Vegan T shirt than a repeat of our 6-0 win :smt048. Now lets see .:smt115... I'm off work that week .... should I fly back to Uk and go to the game, or stay here and go down the pub and watch it  Thanks Sky for ruining my Easter.
  25. Redkrap and his side kicks who took us down. I know the seed had already been sown, but Redkrap, as he is now doing at Spunks didn't instill any self belief in the players and publically stated that he needed another 7 players and even then it was a virtually impossible task to stay up. He slagged off our promising youth players when they lost at Mansfield ? in LC ... he chose the team, tactics and substitutions but didn't accept any of the blame . Fielded a crap line up and left every one totally demoralised when we played Moan U in the Fa Cup and then his decision not to play SKP in the most important game ever to keep us in The Prem on the last day of the season was beyond a joke. I know a lot of people give SKP a hard time for what he said afterwards but he was one of the few players who looked like he gave a damn on the pitch in the last few weeks of that season. John Bailey, already well documented, but as an extra reason, Ossie never played at The Dell again after being sent off at Ewood Park, so we were never given the opportunity to say farewell to him But what a day the 5-0 drubbing and absolute verbal mauling of JB was. Even Roops hasn't been the victim (yet) of such an onslaught from all quarters of the ground!! Many others already mentioned, but one of my other pet hates is Phil Pinocchio Thompson. Probably the most ungracious loser ever (after Alex ferguson of course!!) 2 of my most treasured TV moments are the absolute **** take wind ups Mick Channon and Mike Osman gave him on Sky during the 4-2 Valentines Day massacre of his beloved Liverpool (he wouldn't even acknowledge just how good Matts 1st minute screamer was ) and more recently Matty on Sky going ballistic when Howard scored for Barnsley in the last minute to secure an Fa Cup upset and ripping the **** out of his fellow big nosed pundit Too many refs to mention, but his name escapes me, but the one who looks like Errol Brown out of Hot Chocolate ... his condescending grin at players after giving dodgy decisions really wound me up, it's a wonder nobody ever chinned him. Rant Over ... for now .. at least it was a nice diversion from our present woes
