I'm a bit confused .... did we win 5-2 or 2-0......... did we play a foreign team or against ourselves?? If the latter then we've out done our poor home record by now losing to ourselves Even if it was being played behind closed doors why all the cloak and dagger secrecy and no mention about it on The OS or Echo before hand?

Norwich drew and were only knocked out on Tues 13 Jan, so the process couldn't have started till the next morning, maybe too short notice for the police etc (but if they'd have won they would have had a game today so that kind of shoots that theory out of the water ) After the draw at Charlton they could have maybe said if they lose the replay, the home game against us would be played today .... not sure how well that would have gone down though, making plans on the assumption of a defeat at home aginst one of the few teams beneath them Anyway we'd have probably said No, so that we would have a blank weekend in which to sack our manager :smt037

Half the problem is admitting that you have a problem. Here goes ... My name is Eric and I'm a Saints Fan.:smt005:smt005:smt005 :smt104

Highly likely ... but at lwast he'll have kept his side of the bargain :smt012

Yay .. does this mean The PA Deal is back on

Did this meeting really take place? No mention of it on The OS , so maybe The Echo just made it up :smt044

Is it Friday already?

Does anyone else find it rather ironic that Bankers are seemingly dictating how our club is run, when maybe they should be taking a close look at how they run their own business first :smt012 Maybe we could ask for a multi million bale out from the government to solve our **** ups

Feb 8th .... Sunday ... YAY ... this can only mean one thing we are being bought up by some mega rich Arab Conglomerate. Sunday is the start of the working week out here. Shame it is after the transfer window. Can someone start another rumour that this rumour has been bought forward by 2 weeks

Why would a new manager of any quality want to work with Rupert Lowe?
ericofarabia replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
But surely Redkrap has sole ownership of that excuse -
The Roll Call of Shame - A) Doncaster, Notts Forest, Wolves, Bristol C, Watford. Blackpool and Birmingham. B) Ipswich, Barnsley, Coventry, Plymouth, Sheff Wed and Reading. Never ever ever in my 43 years of following the club have we had such a **** poor home record, especially (with only a couple of exceptions) against a bunch of very ordinary run of the mill 2nd rate teams  Not even the most fervent Skate would have dared to predict us getting 0 pts from those teams in Group A or not beat a single team in Group B :smt012 The failure to even score in nearly half our home games and we still persevere with the same system . Even just scrappy draws against our rivals Donny, Forest, Watford and Blackpool would have seen us in 18th spot, above all 4 of those teams. Take away the 2 games against us at SMS and between them Donny and Watford have only won 2 games out of their other 26 away fixtures :smt044 Even in our 1st relegation season from The 1st division (and even for that matter our last relegation to a lesser degree) you'd turn up at home for a game against any of the top teams genuinely beleiving we could get something out of the game, now a draw against Swansea would be a nice surprise As if what is going on on the pitch isn't bad enough, it's what is happening off the pitch that has really shocked me to the core :smt010. False economies of loaning out the whole forward line to save money, which in turn loses up to 10000 fans per home game. The backroom antics and managerial choices over the last few years have seen our club become a thing of ridicule where as before we were a shining example of how a small club could be well run. Petty mindedness point winning such as The Picture Saga or further back not acknowledging Lawries existence by naming any of the Corperate Areas after him etc etc. Even this weeks treatment of Dave Armstrong, presumably for his criticism of the way things are going at the moment further sullies the name of the club. In the past, no matter how bad things seemed, there was always belief (hope ) that at least some of the players were good enough and all of them cared enough and had the backing of the fans to ensure that The Spirit of Southampton shone through, but today all of that is missing and even if we somehow manage to stave off relegation with a last minute win at Forest on the last day of the season it will not be a time for celebration like last years Sheff U win was. Just when it looked like we had turned a corner and our troubles were behind us and positive vibes were once again present ..... whoooooosssshhhh The EGO has landed and sent us spiralling into a seemingly endless tail spin. So in a word "NO" I have never felt so low about the situation regarding Southampton Football Club and as someone else said, it doesn't so much hurt now, more a terrible numbness, and anger that I now dread Saturdays coming up rather than it be the highloight of the week.

Way back in the days of my yoof in Beastleigh (or as rather aptly nicknamed Obeseleigh in the Echo last week ) my local was THe Eastleigh Hotel. Even with a whole group of us spotty 17 year old students in The Lounge Bar the average of the punters was still about 90 . I think it is now an OAPs home or something ... no change there then, just less beer The childish joy we used to get on Friday nights asking the visiting ****les/seafood seller if he had crabs was just about the highlight of the evening in there, although putting smutty captions in The Sally Armys War Cry was highly amusing as well. Bloody students eh! Having to ask for a pint of Pompey Royal was a bit of a drawback, but been regulars we could get away with the old pint of the usual please barman. In Dubai my local is my Beer Fridge or Wine Chiller can't be arsed going out to Hotels and pay extortionate prices unless it's to watch Saints lose yet again, then we normally mob up and go to GoodFellas in Bur Dubai, which shows every PL game, Sky Fizzy Pop games and numerous European leagues as well as Rugger, Golf,Grand Prix etc etc on about a zillion screens. On a Saturday afternoon they may have as many as 6 games being shown at once, including 2 screens in teh bogs If the footy is boring and you are sat in the right place you can get a good view of the Ho's going up the stairs to the club on the floor above

I hope your crazy feeling from last week has the same effect this week This is a game we really do need to win (aren't they all ) and in most of our minds the sort of one we should be winning easily, but lets not forget how Donny won 4-2 at Forest the week after they stuffed us at SMS and last week they beat high flying Burnley. I've got a horrrible feeling things could go tits up , but will be praying and hoping they don't. Maybe last week was a turning point, winning a game in which we didn't play well, rather than only winning plaudits from the opposition manager in games that we have lost

Time for some good old fashioned name dropping

That really does conjure up a fantastic picture .... :smt044. Puts me in mind of Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest (in a nice sort of way, if you know what I mean ) You should have said they were doing Ronaldo impersonations :yawinkle: Keep them coming, haven't had so much fun reading freds on here since another of SB's favs The Soul Cellar -
Stoneham - What Actually Happened?
ericofarabia replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints

Besides meeting Mr ITK Dubai Phil, not really had many actual meetings with any Saints players. I was sat a few rows in front of MLT at Coventry away a few years ago.... "and we've still got Matty in the stands .." lol. Watching Coventry fans walking outside the ground jaws on the ground or walking into lamp posts as they couldn't beleive that it really was Matt was leaving the ground with the away support Have seen Mick Channon at Dubai Race Course but could not get close enough to speak, but did get a nod from Alan Shearer at the same venue when Newcastle were out here a few years ago on a winter break. He is probably typing the same moment on a players web site saying he'd seen ericofarabia give him the nod, but was to shy to come and speak to me ... :smt044 My dad used to work for MiniCabs and used to drive Eric Martin home and often need to 'escort' him to the door . In fact Eric used to ask for my dad whenever he phoned up for a taxi. (No I wasn't named after Eric Martin, I was already an avid SFC fan by then!!) How about somebody giving Mick 7 a wake up call and get some of his cherished memories from growing up with his dad Superb fred, and one that really does highlight the difference between the money/image fixated players of today compared to the characters of yesteryear. -

Basically it's The preacher of all that is true (The Daily Mirror) saying that Newcastle want Nigel Quashie to save them from relegation :smt044 If we were ahem in a relegation battle he'd be the last person I'd want given his track record . About as welcome as a pork pie in a synagogue -
#-o:smt103 .... good point and very well presented :yawinkle:

He doesn't look anything like he did when he was singing with The Shadows or at Wimbledon :yawinkle:

Well at least that is one competition you'd win unless there is something about S W that we don't know about
