My first home game of the season - as Saints look for their 20th consecutive home win, I think you know what I'm saying - whats it worth to stay away?

I used to love going to see the reserves at SMS - a mixture of enthusiastic and raw youth, with a few aging stars. I particularly remember the young Theo, Oxo, and from the opposition an impressive Darren Bent - you could see something special in all of them. It was an affordable way to see footy!

Jan and Mark had a thankless task when they were here - in their defence I'd say we played some of the most attractive football for years with our "kids" and limited resources, even though it didn't last too long once the lack of quality in depth was exposed and the physical demands of the league kicked in.

I usually associate Scotch with good times, all in moderation of course

You can't blame Saints first home defeat since 1066 on this - the real reason is that it will be the first home game I have been able to get to this season

Some of these comments show what a high standard we have set - and how unrealistic some people are. We are 12 games into the season and we're 3 points clear at the top of the championship. We had a string of tough games - Derby away, West Ham at home and Reading away - and we've come thorough unbeaten with 5 points. You cant expect champagne football for 90 mins every game and I'll certainly take where we are with huge thanks to NA and the whole team at SFC. Still a great time to be a Saints fan, possible THE best time. Just back from the game, last night, watched at the pub.

Very good point gained - how come we played out best football with only 10 men?

He looked more reliable that Jose against West Ham - I think Fonte has not had the greatest start to the season by his hight standards, and so often looks close to giving a pen away. I'm sure he'll up his game but I'd still be happy to see another top quality CB come here in Jan (along with the striker)
