  1. I only follow a handful of them so can't comment on the exact amount across the whole squad, but I saw 2 out of the 5 I follow (Clyne & Chaplow). How many is the official amount for 'some'? Apologies to you if I've confused or distressed you by using the word 'some’ rather than saying 'a couple' I appreciate today's been an emotional rollercoaster for many people on here and I certainly don’t want to cause any more outrage via this totally inappropriate use of wording!
  2. Sometimes nips are ok anyway, you need to do better than that!
  3. Because these people getting all hot & bothered about this are the same people that will tell you the decision made on Deano and Sharpe were made by the evil Cortese as well!
  4. I thought it was pretty interesting that within a couple of hours of this breaking, some of the players were on twitter talking about getting behind the new gaffer and working with him.
  5. I can't really disagree with you here to be honest and personally I'd also rather we had stuck with Adkins. We'll never know what might have happened now, it's a shame, but as fans we also demand success and sometimes that comes at a price. It's not right but that's how it is.
  6. He had a five year plan to get us back to the premiership, we're already there. You don't think that's a pretty good basis for us to trust him? He felt Adkins had a better chance of getting us promotion than Pards, I'd say that decision worked out well and whilst we'll never know if Pards could have also achieved the same results, clearly Cortese made a decision that worked out. Now he's decided someone else has a better chance of pushing on from here. Yeah of course a lot of fans aren't happy but if in another two years’ time this new manager is a legend and we're in an even better position as a club it'll have been worthwhile. In business (which includes football) sometimes the best decisions aren't the easiest decisions. Fans will come round if things work out. If key staff have been lost maybe they weren't up to the challenge and were wrong for the club. I'm not saying he couldn't have done things better, but I am still seeing enough good work as a whole to maintain my trust in Cortese.
  7. Exactly this. Whatever people think about some of his individual decisions, as a whole he has done wonders for Southampton football club and as such, regardless of our sentimental feelings about Adkins, we have to trust Cortese and the vision he has based on what he's done so far.
  8. Stop it with your crazy common sense and logical approach, there's no place for that here!
  9. I assume someone is translating these comments what with the fact that he doesn't speak a word of english according to some on here!
  10. Be interesting to see if comments after a couple of hours are as emotive as they have been over these first few pages?
  11. Yes I'm sure the lads in the Northam all have white hankies!
  12. Good question. If I'm honest I'm not surprised unfortunately.
  13. what is the acceptable amount of time for grown men to stop acting like irrational girls?
  14. Every week people are moaning about Adkins crazy substitutions, maybe the new guy will align to the Saintweb forum majority opinion on subs! Maybe he will stop playing Guly and then you’ll all be happy!
  15. Exactly this! I can totally understand everyone being ******ed off about adkins going, but getting on the new guys back when we know nothing about him is just silly.
  16. Ok I’m as disappointed as everyone else about the loss of Nige, BUT I was disappointed when pards went and that change was for the better. We have to trust Cortese and his vision, he’s not let us down so far, so whilst we wish Nigel all the best, we need to get behind the new manager, a young man with a similar vision.
  17. fu ck not cool
  18. These are my thoughts too!
  19. I know a Bompey fan who just posted this on his facebook wall (I really do feel a bit sorry for them not having any real rivals)............... Nigel Adkins is keen to discover how Eddie Howe's team went on such a magnificent unbeaten run, so he decides on a visit to Bournemouth's training ground to see how Howe trains his players. After one day he is not really impressed by the training practices, so he asks Howe how he gets his players so sharp. "Well, it is simple.” Howe replies. “I sometimes ask my players a difficult question, and that way they stay really sharp mentally." Of course Adkins wants an example, so Howe asks David James to come over. He asks: "David, he is not your brother, but still he is your father’s son. Who is he?" "That is not difficult," James answers immediately; "Of course that would be me." "You see? That’s the way you keep them sharp," Howe says to Adkins. Adkins, who desperately needs an unbeaten run to live up to Saints fans' god given entitlement to fourth bottom in the premier league, decides to bring this technique into his training session the next day. He calls Rickie Lambert over. "Ricky, I have a question for you," he says, "He is not your brother, but still he is your father’s son, who is he?" "My God, gaffer," replies Lambert, wiping pie crumbs off his face, "That’s a tough one to answer, can I sleep on that?" Adkins agrees with the one-night postponement. So that night Lambert decides to call Matt Le Tissier. He’s had years of experience of getting battered in the PL, so maybe he knows something about these top level questions. "Matthew, maybe you know the answer to this question: he is not your brother, but still he is your father’s son. Who is he?" "That is easy," says Le Tissier, “that’s me!” So the next day Lambert smugly walks into training full of confidence. Adkins says: "Ricky, do you know the answer to my question yet?" "Yes it was actually very easy," he says, "It's Matt Le Tissier." Adkins snaps. "No of course it’s not you stupid bar steward. It’s David James."
  20. Hi Bearsy, hope you are well. Sorry to trouble you, but how do you know this? I stayed with a girl at a Premier Inn (this was a few years ago when girls still spoke to me). Does this mean that I've had an indirect threesome with Lenny Henry?
  21. Mr Tonka would be turning in his grave (if he's dead). Maybe instead of action men, we could just send kids straight into wars?
  22. He should have stuck with snooker
  23. I find it difficult to believe that any manager would specifically ask his team to underperform (unless for match fixing reasons), although I do believe a manager could put less importance on winning a game. As per the fans opinions, I’m sure if Nigel had answered honestly which of the two games he’d rather get something from, he’d have gone for the league game and I’m sure he used the cup game to try a few things out and gets some ideas for how to approach/not approach the league game. But I can’t see that he’d have specifically asked players to underperform, no way José!!!!!
