  1. They're no mugs, treat this like we're going to roll them over, and we will not. They showed they're capable last season. Would go with strongest possible line up, fitness permitting. Despite me suggesting to rest Armstrong above, think we rest him once Ings is fit enough to play 90 mins. McCarthy; KWP Bednarek Vestergaard Bertrand; Romeu JWP; Redmond Armstrong; Adams Walcott Obviously Ings if fit enough, and drop Walcott back in place of Armstrong. Got a really good battle there for those top 4 spots in the side, and suddenly look very strong at CB with Vest proving most people wrong this season. Will need the squad more than ever over the next month or so.
  2. Armstrong hasn’t been at it since he got Covid. Would maybe give him a rest. Expect a win, and I never say that, but the sort of game we lose 0-1. Another win would be huge
  3. Not sure anyone is going to be going to the game "hammered" anyway, as the pubs are closed. I think if you're in serious risk, you should be opting out, but the majority will be fine from it.
  4. He's not terrible, but would switch off, thought he is better than he is, and didn't apply himself, similar to Lemina. Also just not sure he suited the premier league, or the way we play. Got a decent left foot. It's a good value signing for Lazio for £5m if thats what's been agreed, and good for us to get his wages off the books.
  5. So today is D-Day, anyone been told they're able to go yet?
  6. They're uber fans.
  7. Yeah, bet his conversion rate is ridiculous over the last 12 months. It's basically a pen when he gets it from there now.
  8. Details announced here: https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2020-12-03/southampton-fc-return-to-st-marys-ballot-for-sheffield-united With the deadline for Season Ticket holders to confirm whether they would like to attend games at St Mary’s in December and January having passed, the club can now outline the process for selecting which fans will be welcomed back for our fixture against Sheffield United on Sunday 13th December. The information gathered from Season Ticket holders has allowed the club to be efficient in allocating seats for each game, as well as being able to react to any changes in government guidance or capacity restrictions. The club has developed the processes to allow fans to return to St Mary’s based on government advice – we are aware that this can change at short notice and will update fans if there are any developments. You’ll find information below on how the selection process works for each match, the next steps that will be taken by the club, and details of information supporters can expect to receive ahead of the game against Sheffield United. Return to St Mary's The Selection Process The club has listened to views from fan groups regarding the fairest process for selecting which Season Ticket holders* are able to attend reduced capacity games at St Mary’s. The consensus from these fan groups is that the club should look to recognise the dedication of fans, giving priority to long-standing Season Ticket holders that have attended the majority of matches in recent seasons, both home and away, while also ensuring there is a fair opportunity for all Season Ticket holders, including Seasonal Hospitality guests, to attend games. Based on this criteria, there will be small groups who will be invited to attend either each home game, or alternate home games, with the remaining tickets available to general admission Season Ticket holders through a ballot of the 10,000 eligible supporters who have confirmed they would like to attend matches. Following the ballot, general admission Season Ticket holders that are selected to attend the Sheffield United match will then not be considered for selection for upcoming matches in future ballots until all Season Ticket holders that would like to attend matches have done so. This does not apply to the small groups attending either each home game, or alternate home games. Season Ticket holders that are not selected or have confirmed to the club that they do not wish to be considered for selection shall receive a pro rata refund for the game. The club will also have a limited number of tickets for our Seasonal Hospitality guests, including tickets that fulfil contractual obligations to our partners. We would like to thank all of our partners for returning either all or the majority of their tickets to the ballot to enable more Season Ticket holders to attend matches, sharing the club’s view that we should recognise the dedication of our fans. Return to St Mary's The allocation of the 2,000 tickets available will therefore be split as follows: - 80% general admission Season Ticket holders, including: - 62 fans that have held their Season Ticket for over six years and attended every match home and away last season - 176 fans that have held their Season Ticket for over four years, attending at least 95% of home games and 66% of away games last season - 1,319 Season Ticket holders to be selected through the ballot - 20% Seasonal Hospitality guests and club partners, including: - 241 guests that have held their box or lounge tickets for over six years continuously, with remaining spaces selected through a ballot Refunds for the Manchester United and Sheffield United matches will be completed shortly. If you have already had your refund, this will not affect your chances of being selected for the Sheffield United match. Instead, if you are selected, the refund will be applied to a future fixture. The club understands that there will be fans disappointed by missing out on the ballot for each fixture but, after internal discussions and fan consultation, we feel this is the fairest way to proceed under the current capacity restrictions and are doing everything possible to allow for as many fans back St Mary’s as we can. Return to St Mary's What happens next? Those supporters that are successful in the ballot will have their seats allocated and will receive an email with information about their tickets by Tuesday 8th December. Due to restrictions on which parts of St Mary’s we are able to open, we cannot guarantee that Season Ticket holders will be in their chosen seats, but we will endeavour to assign seats that are at a similar height and proximity to exits where possible. All Season Ticket holders will receive an email to confirm that the seat assigning process has been completed. Return to St Mary's If I am successful, what will I receive? Before the match against Sheffield United on Sunday 13th December, Season Ticket holders that are assigned tickets will receive further information about the processes that have been put in place to ensure a safe matchday experience for all fans. This will include: - Details on how to download your tickets to a mobile device or print your tickets at home before arriving at St Mary’s - Information on the matchday layout at St Mary’s, including the specific entrance you will need to enter through and your designated entry time - A Covid-19 questionnaire that is mandatory for all supporters attending to fill out in order to be admitted entry - A link to the Code of Conduct that all supporters attending must abide by when attending matches at St Mary’s - Details on what will happen on a matchday and what provisions are in place for supporters The process for assigning tickets for the game against Manchester City on Saturday 19th December will commence shortly after the Sheffield United match. We would like to thank our supporters for their continued support, and we look forward to safely welcoming fans back to St Marys. *Please note, any Season Ticket holders that are registered with a postcode in tier 3 at the time of this or any future ballot will not considered for selection to ensure we adhere with government guidelines.
  9. Even given he was already in England?
  10. Brighton are a decent outfit this season, I don't see them going down. But if we play to our best, we should win, simple as that. They've not won at home yet this season. Lost to Everton, Chelsea, Man Utd, Spurs, Drawn too many against Palace, WBA, Burnley, Liverpool Won at VIlla and Newcastle. Think 8 probably pick themselves, (Mccarthy; KWP Bed Vest Bertrand; Rom JWP; Adams ) it's just whether Ings is fully fit, (wouldn't want to rush him if he's not 100% ready) and what we do with Redmond, Armstrong, Walcott and Djenepo. Arsmtrong has looked a bit leggy in the last few weeks, but they have got a full week now to recover. COYS
  11. West Ham quietly going about their business, 3 points behind us having played, Newcastle (H) - L 0-2 Arsenal (A) - L 2-1 Wolves (H) - W 4-0 Leicester (A) - W 0-3 Spurs (A) - D 3-3 Man City (H) - D 1-1 Liverpool (A) - L 2-1 Fulham (H) - W 1-0 Sheff Utd (A) - W 0-1 Very good return given that fixture list, you've got to say.
  12. Think he's got what he wants at the moment, until Salisu comes in, and then it will be 2 from 3. I don't see Stephens as an option, and would expect him either to sit and accept he's 4th choice, and a utility option if desparate in the full back positions, or he'll look to leave in January or at the latest the summer. He's simply not good enough to be playing week in week out in the premier league. I'm not sure I buy this whole "he's good on the ball", I think he's ok, but he's not great at all with the ball at his feet.
  13. Can't help but feel that the way they play might just suit us. Quite a laboured midfield and not the best at the bac when pressed. However they also have the threat over the top with Rashford etc, Definitely more confident about this one than Wolves away...
  14. Nope - I've only had 4, Spurs, WBA, Everton, and Newcastle I would assume.
  15. Hmm, hopefully he’s alright and it’s not a falling out...!!
  16. Was very promising in a RWB position, but looked all at sea when playing RB. That Leicester game seems to have really hurt him, as I think he has only played once or twice since...? Looks to me like a loan move would be best for all parties, and see whether he can develop. Sure the allegations relating to his private life have also affected him massively.
  17. Some really promising news today for those wanting to get back into stadiums. Whats the chances of Southampton being Tier 1? I'd guess we have about 12,000 season ticket holders who opted in to return, so would work out as 1 in 3 games we'd be able to go to...
  18. If Bertrand won't sign a contract, then getting in Brandon Williams in on loan in January with a view to a perm wouldn't be awful business. Yes Bertrand would be a big loss, but Brandon Williams could develop into a really good full back given the chance to play...
  19. 19, Didn't know how old KWP was!
  20. At the end of the day, his personal life is none of our business.
  21. You say that, but Mane took a few seasons to get going, he was awful when he joined. I don't think Djenepo will get close to Mane's level, but there are similarities. Love his passion, and his unpredictability. Great to have a few different options on either side, suddenly feels like we have got some real depth to the squad. He's certainly got a decent role to play as long as he can get fit.
  22. But that's mainly because we stop pressing in midfield. It's fine as long as we press them because they dont have time to pick the pass.
  23. Jeremi Rodriguez - he's only 17 though and only just joined the club. It's incredibly difficult as it seems all the potential backups are also injured (Vokins, Salisu, Diallo, Smallbone). I would go something like this. Valery a huge gamble though, not sure what the other alternatives are with current injury problems. Would rather keep JWP in midfield if possible, especially give Diallo and Smallbone out. Only other option would be to put JWP RB, Armstrong into the middle and Djenepo/Redmond either side. Very difficult though as we want to keep disruption to the minimum. ---------------------Mccarthy--------------------- Valery------Bednarek-------Vestergaard-------KWP --------------Romeu---------JWP---------------- ------Armstrong--------------------Redmond----- --------------Adams--------Walcott--------------
  24. If that happens, it surely won't be long until they're in the premier league. Will it get to a point where you require to have billionaire owners to even be in the league?!
  25. I think we just have to wait, clearly something going on which is private. He's not been at the club that long.
