He was brilliant last night, didn’t stop, fully deserved his goal. Turning into a really good player.
-
Been out a long time now, not expecting him to play for us again tbh.

Michael Obafemi - Official: Signs for Swansea
Saint Garrett replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Bloody shambles this. what a mess. The thought of us sticking all our eggs in the Ings, Obafemi, Long and Austin basket is absolutely laughable. All either always injured or nowhere near good enough. Which other teams would any of these get in in this league? -
I'm not an Austin fan, but he has to start this. We'll have to carry him through the majority of the game, but we know if we give him enough chances, he is the most likely to stick it in. Plus he can actually head the ball which is a novel idea for the other lot.
-
If we don't win, we're as good as down I think. ---------------Gunn Valery Bednarek Yoshida Bertrand --------Hojbjerg Romeu----------- JWP-------Redmond----Armstrong ------------Austin So little pace in our side. Could stick Long on a wing. Such a championship side and no surprise we are where we are. How have we got to the point where thats our first XI - madness.
-
He's dross - would struggle to get in the majority of Championship sides. Not good enough on the ball, not good enough in the air, gets pushed off the ball, doesn't read the game particularly well. He shouldn't be anywhere near a premier league first XI.
-
He's already better than Cedric. He's a kid who has been thrown in at the deep end. I'm not worried when he's playing. Seems to love a dribble forwards and is arguably a bit greedy but great talent to have - doesn't quite have the quality with his balls into the box, but not much for him to aim for in the middle anyway. Defensively I think he is ok, but we do have a poor back line in general.

Just me who thinks Lemina is going to be out for the rest of the season? Seems never ending

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Saint Garrett replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
Thought he was an academy product, didn't know we bought him in like Stephens etc. Slight difference I guess is that Obafemi was 15 when he was brought in rather than a first team regular like Stephens. -
Travelled on Lion Air a few times when in Thailand - was absolutely fine.

Decent write up on it here... https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11642200/relegation-battle-examined-who-will-maintain-their-premier-league-status The head to head table is pretty damning, and pretty much shows why we are still in the sh1t.

The January Window - what will it cost us?
Saint Garrett replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
To be honest, I think even when he is available, we're still in the bottom 5 on options up top. You know you're only going to get 60 minutes out of him anyway. The options off the bench are dire, and when Ings isn't available we've got a strike force that some Championship sides wouldn't take. It's just a gamble to see whether thats going to cost us by the end of the season. But, if Gao has no money, then he's got to go. Nothing good can come of him, there's clearly a reason why he didn't pass the "fit and proper test" by the premier league. -
He regularly plays well vs Arsenal, actually scored there last year. Sod it, should be a good day out, few drinks, no point being pessimistic. It's a free hit. We normally give them a good game up there, and I see no reason why we can't nick something if they have an off day.
-
This is my problem. Defence are just not good enough. However with Yoshida back and Stephens out, it should improve.
-
Annoying, bringing my mate to this, but bought his ticket a while back. £30/
-
He hasn't got a pot to **** in, and certainly no interest in spending it within the club.
-
Would go something like... -------------------------Gunn--------------------------- -----------Bednarek--Yoshida--Vestergaard----------- Valery-----------------Romeu------------------Bertrand ------------JWP-------------------Hojbjerg------------- -----------------------Redmond------------------------ -------------------------Long---------------------------- Press them hard, and try and hit them on the counter. You can get at them for sure. Can easily win that midfield battle against Guendozi and Torreira like we did at home. 1-1.

Mid-march last year - would expect it to be a similar time... https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/16100297.in-depth-a-detailed-look-at-the-saints-accounts/

There is certainly a real chance of us being "cut adrift" after the next four, so it's imperative that we beat Fulham now, and nick a point or two from the other 3 games. You'd like to think everyone won't go and pick up in form over the next few weeks - Burnley seem to have sorted themselves out so don't see them being in it tbh.
-
Possibly a bit too early, but worth keeping an eye on fixtures. Home games in bold. Saints - 37 Points April 27 - Southampton v Bournemouth May 04 - West Ham United v Southampton May 12 - Southampton v Huddersfield Brighton - 34 Points April 27 - Brighton & Hove Albion FC v Newcastle United May 04 - Arsenal v Brighton & Hove Albion FC May 12 - Brighton & Hove Albion FC v Manchester City Cardiff - 31 Points April 27 — Fulham v Cardiff City May 4 — Cardiff City v Crystal Palace May 12 — Manchester United v Cardiff City

Looks like it's time for the "relegation price 2019" thread.
Saint Garrett replied to tisspahars's topic in The Saints
Agree - they were absolutely rubbish on Saturday, but still outwitted us. Matched us up and stopped the wide men (Valery / Bertrand) really affecting the game, and we obviously had no threat in the middle third of the pitch apart from Redmond. Even if we nick 2 draws which should have happened from those two games things would be looking a lot more rosey. We'd be sat on 26 points and them on 21, with the bottom three pretty much cut adrift. But this always seems to happen with one of the teams who looked dead certs for relegation, their form picks up and they stay up, and another drops like a stone and ends up being well amongst it, (could well be Brighton this year). There is a long way to go, but we could do with a draw or two in the next 4 with us beating Fulham. Get 4/5 points from the next 4 games and I think it's not looking too bad. -
Which would have been utterly ridiculous bearing on mind we were 16th off the back of a few decent results...
-
Should be playing for us IMO. McCarthy hasn't been great this season, and his kicking is not good enough.
-
TBH, I think people see him "having an attitude" because he's black - same with Redmond...that's the elephant in the room here....
