  1. TBF he was a 'bright spark' !
  2. Blatter promised 'total transparency', this was his first opportunity to prove that he was serious and look at the result, a joke once again !!! A proper (independent) investigation into all the corruption charges is the only way forward, anything less is a cop out !
  3. I don't remember anyone blaming a toilet for our lack of signings last year ! Am I missing something ??
  4. Actually, that was a bargain ! Hughes was on £18k, Brown was on £20k and Ben Haim was getting £38k for a similar input !
  5. That's all they had to do ! Christ, even the government didn't change the retirement age suddenly in one go !!!
  6. I'm pleased to see that they are beginning to invest some of my 72% increase already !
  7. ] At the age of 58 I was asked by my company if I would accept early retirement in order to make way for 'younger blood' coming through ! I was paid off (through the pension fund!) and felt that it was the honourable thing to do, although I could have refused without being penalised ! Since then my annual income has been roughly half of what it was but I'm still pretty satisfied with my lot and tend not to complain unless I think that something is a bit extreme and this is where the 72% comes in ! Frankly, I have reluctantly accepted the club's decision and moved on, but sadly I find the attitude of some (probably younger?) posters on here to be quite insulting given the circumstances and reasons why I stopped working !
  8. Winger ? I only ever saw him play at centre midfield and am sure that he does not have the pace and/or trickery for a wide player !!
  9. I politely stated my case by e-mail and got a bog standard, pre-prepared reply which basically told me what I already knew, and no, it was not satisfactory !!
  10. I'm sure they won't worry about a minor detail like that !!
  11. I find this thread thoroughly depressing now, firstly I'm disappointed by the club for dropping a bombshell for the second consecutive year and on top of that we have argument & abuse about the issues on here ! Clearly those affected by the huge increase (72%) are going to be upset and this is understandable, but the vitriol from some fellow fans seems to me to be completely unwarranted ! I believe that it is a sad situation which does nothing to enhance the feelgood factor which was really beginning to unfold !!!
  12. Interesting reading for those who think that Saints are overly generous to the 'wrinklies' !! http://www.manutd.com/en/Tickets-And-Hospitality/Ticket-Prices/Season-Tickets.aspx
  13. I bow to your superior knowledge on the detail, but nevertheless this action had a pretty disastrous effect and basically triggered the demise of final salary pensions in the private sector !
  14. I am aware that my argument was over simplified but I still do not feel that my future pension is "being financed by us!" as was stated by Aintforever ! Whatever happens my overall contributions will far outweigh what I receive ! As for my generation 'milking' the economy, does this mean that your generation of bankers and politicians have 'screwed' the economy as we are now trillions in debt !! BTW the tax relief on private pensions was scrapped by Gordon Brown (one of his first acts as chancellor) around 1997/98 ! As for me subsidising you, I did, your education, healthcare, security etc.. was paid by the contributions of previous generations !!! Ps. although I am affected by the 72% increase I have not complained about personal circumstances nor am I refusing to renew, I have just taken umbrage to some invalid statements regarding my place in society !!
  15. I think you'll find that this has changed and any woman born after 1950 is now affected. My wife was born in Dec 1952 and will now get her pension 2yrs and 4 months later than expected ! http://www.ageuk.org.uk/money-matters/pensions/state-pension/
  16. Just for the record you (nor anyone else for that matter!) paid a single penny for my private pension and when I do receive a state pension at age 65 I will have contributed at least 10 times more per annum in tax (every year for 45 years!) than will be given back to me ! Anyway, let's not let the facts interfere with your opinion, eh ??

    Fun facts!

Hamster is enjoying this thread ! FACT
  18. Last years controversy was the loss of installment plan and booking fees, this years is the senior concession rate ! It should not be beyond the wit of man to consider these issues in advance and give some time or leeway when implementing changes ! Regardless of anybody's circumstances, a 72% increase is unjustifiable (IMHO) and does not foster goodwill towards the club and it's custodians ! Along with others in the 61-64 bracket I will inform the club of my dissatisfaction and would hope (probably naively!) that at least they give a courteous reply !
  19. I haven't read this complete thread but it seems to me that the 61 to 64 year olds have been hit the hardest and I wonder why ? I am facing a 72% increase for the same seat as last year which (given that inflation is around 4%) seems a bit steep ! As it happens I intend to renew but I do wish that the club would give some explanation behind their decisions because otherwise they can easily be perceived as uncaring which will not reap any benefit in the longer term !!
  20. Mills can be a liability at times and am not sure that he would want to come back here anyway ! Apart from Long who will deffo go to a prem club, I would like to see Kebe or McAnuff down here but reckon that we'd struggle to get them ! Howard would no doubt like to come home but I wonder if he is better than what we've got so we probably won't take any Reading players at all !
  21. I've not been to Australia or New Zealand but near as dammit everywhere else ! Am I the winner ??
  22. I presume that you are the Sue who made the last comment re. 'why Pompey' ? For me, that is 'the big question' to anyone about to buy them, because otherwise the heavy suspicion is that it will be a money laundering machine and not a football club at all !!
  23. Correction : "The Russians will only buy if it is a dodgy deal !
  24. Apparently brown trousers are the bestseller at Gunwharf Quays at the moment
