Was staying at the De Vere and had breakfast at the next table to Paul Telfer the day after he had signed for the Saints ! Much to my wife's embarrassment I struck up a conversation with him (he had his lady and kid in tow!) and asked him if he reckoned he would get a place in the team straightaway, he said that there was virtually no chance but, lo and behold, a few hours later, he played the whole game ! Thereafter (according to the masses on Saintsforever) he was deemed to be Strachan's 'bastard son' ! Personally I thought he did ok for us and have to say that he came across as a pretty good bloke during that short chat !

Just checked my 'Oop North Grimometer' and although grim, the level of grimness should not endanger the game ! Match prediction - Saints win, performance - grim !

The owners/mods are 'damned if they do, damned if they don't ! They put in the time and effort to produce a forum for presumably like-minded Saints fans ! The use of the forum is entirely the individual's own choice and surely if you don't like it then you don't have to visit it ? The fact that you can start a thread criticising the TSW management shows that censorship is not prevalent and that the implied influence of SFC is nothing more than a conpiracy theory ! I fully inderstand that (given the PC and compensation culture which exists today!) the owners are careful to avoid any threat of legal problems and I feel that forum users should respect this as most undoubtedly do !!!

Not good news as we will have a real backlog and have to play matches very close together at the end of the season ! I would much rather have points in the bag than games in hand ! Grrrr...

Putting natural bias and rivalry aside, you really have to wonder why anybody would pay big money to take on such a shambolic situation with debt commitmnts running for the next 4 years and all manner of skeletons in cupboards ? There are many other clubs (at all levels) available without the complexities that this deal offers so why on earth would you choose this one ?? Correction ! VFTT has just shown that it happens in our society today, not that it is acceptable ! Also, I think that it is a bit naive to consider that those who feel let down by 'their own' courts just pop down the road and get a proper legal judgement and all is hunky dory (within a family dispute I think that this would drive an even bigger wedge between the parties!) ! Call me old fashioned, but surely there should be one law which applies to all and anything other is 'unacceptable' ?

The question is, is this acceptable within our society and within our own laws ? I suggest that it is not ! If ethnic groups are to use their own preferred system then it surely devalues the absolute rule of British law and becomes a form of anarchy ! We (as a nation) are much more accepting of these anomalies than most others (try doing the reverse in Middle Eastern countries for example!) but surely it would aid the principle of 'multiculturism' if all people adhered to the law of the host country without fear nor favour ??
